All in all a great little Mexican joint.

Realistically you have to know someone to get in or you need to come early on a Monday. It's fun, it's different, and unfortunately it is probably now outdated.

Vatan Indian Vegetarian
Categories: Indian, Vegetarian
Neighborhoods: Murray Hill, Kips Bay
The service was top notch and possibly the friendliest I've ever experienced in NYC. I think our waitress genuinely felt bad about interupting us when she explained each course.
Now the food ... $31 for all you can eat Gujarati Vegetarian. No, not buffet, but platters of food brought out to you. Think 18 different items to choose from, almost all of which are FABULOUS. And after you have stuffed yourself so full you think you may explode they bring you desert.
Vatan, I love you. One small critique ... use glasses for water instead of the metal cups. They make the water taste metallic and bad.
Come in, sit your butt down and order up some delicious BBQ. At Jim N Nick's the operative word is sweet. Everything is sweet. Whether you are talking about the divine sweet tea, the immaculate sweet corn muffins which come with every meal, or the syrupy sweet BBQ, this place may be a diabetic's nightmare.
I still prefer Texas BBQ, and the service was a little slow, but for an easy lunch in Birmingham a loaded baked potato here is a sure winner.

Gazuza
Categories: Hookah Bars, Lounges
Neighborhood: Dupont Circle
Gazuza was the place we would go when we knew that the evening was beyond saving. There was no merit in pretending that we were doing anything short of stumbling from bar to bar in search of a pure wisdom a man in his young 20's strives to discover, a man in his late 20's believes he possesses, and a man in his 30's knows never existed.
If you're in Gazuza odds are you are convinced of your own worth to the universe. You are so convinced of it that you've come to scam on young, pretty Euro girls looking to have you buy them overpriced fancy drinks with the promise that if you demonstrate enough wealth you too can spin the venereal disease wheel in her bedroom. It tends to be dark, loud (I'm talking jet engines taking off loud), and expensive here.
They do sell hookahs though.
