Writing this review solely for Tisha, who I had seen at the previous salon she had worked at. Worth the drive to follow her to this one.

First, a backstory, which will help illustrate exactly why I am so freakin' thrilled about my salon results today. While pressed for time one day, I had gone to a different local salon before a job interview for a quick root touchup and a basic trim. I was holding back tears when I left, because I had no idea how I was going to fix the mess that was made. Weird chunks cut off the side, the pre-mentioned uneven yellow tones and fried spots where the guy just left the flat iron on my hair while he was momentarily distracted by his favorite Kelly Clarkson song. I basically just had to wear my hair up in a clip until my roots were grown long enough to warrant an appointment.

I'm terrible at describing what I want and half the time, the picture in my head is impossible due to the weird layers and whatnot left over from the mistakes of other hairdressers. "you know, I want something pearly, but ash with, like, champagne-ish in the sunlight, right? and then like, a Drew Barrymore in Scream, but like more blunt and modern. You know what I mean?" Today I went to Mitra's and Tisha was somehow able to decode the nonsensical description of what I wanted. I ended up leaving the salon with possibly the best color combo and bad-cut salvage I have ever had. I am seriously impressed, the color came out precise and perfect. The roots aren't yellow and match the rest of my hair. She nailed the specific color I wanted and blended in the weird Carol Brady on crack haircut the other guy gave me so well that I actually received compliments on it the rest of the night . Confidence regained,  job well done.

Mitra's itself is a nice spa-like salon, in an older building in Orange. It is stand alone, not in a strip mall, which is a nice change of pace. It gives the feeling of a little more intimacy, less like the fast food equivalent of a hair salon feel some other places have. I paid $65 for the color/cut/style which is fairly typical as far as prices go.

I have not tried any of the other services, so I cannot speak for any of those, but if you are looking for a new 'do from someone with a creative eye and passion for what she does, I would highly recommend making an appointment with Tisha.

Not a lot I can say. These guys were at the SoCo Farmers Market in Costa Mesa on Saturday and I just happened to be working down the street that day and just happened to drive down there for food truck fare on my lunch break.

I'm a sucker for anything that gives me a sample at farmers markets, but holy crap, I am glad I bought what I did. It was five bucks a piece, which is pricey for me, but worth it. I got pumpkin and lentil bolani and garlic, mint, cheese and curry lentil sauce. Soooo good. So awesomely good.

I hope they come back to the area farmers, because I'm gonna be on the lookout every chance I get.

George's Burgers

Here's the thing, I don't even feel like it is fair for me to review this place. I mean, I've been trying to cut back lately and get my boyfriend fat in control Boyfriend fat is the fat I gain after being in a steady relationship for a time, because gluttons stick together. Anyway, so I've been to George's twice. Once to get a burger and fries and the second time to get something reasonable, which ended up being a salad. The burger was pretty good. Cheesy, greasy, covered in canned mushrooms. I ate it in about three seconds, so I'm not one hundred percent sure how good it tasted, but I am pretty sure it was good. The fries were not so great, a little soggy and cold and I had only let them cool down maybe a couple minutes before breaking them out to eat.  But hey, it was cheap. So there's that.

The second time I went, I got a salad. It advertised ham and turkey and cheese and all kinds of awesome, so I figured it was a good cheat salad. What I received was a styrofoam container full of pure iceberg with 4 slices of grocery store (the store brand version of oscar meyers) sandwich meat slices on top. There was a hunk of shredded cheese covered in a white powder all clumped up on the side, a bunch of dill pickle slices and a hard boiled egg. George, what the hell? Why? Are you looking down on me because I wanted a salad? I was only there because my coworker lunchdate really wanted a burger. It's not my fault.

Anyway, so screw that. The character at the counter also called my friend picky because I think she tried to get a burger with no tomato. He's a character though, so that's fine, you can pick on people. Just don't try to pull that iceberg lettuce and pickle creation off ever again.

Bottom line, it's called George's Burgers, not George's Salads. My bad.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Oh, Chipotle. You are expensive and you have the only paper bags I would denounce as a "try hards". I have said many a time, I would rather eat a burrito bowl than do it. Burrito fixins are to me what sandwiches are to Liz Lemon, total magic. And while these burrito ingredients are not the best I've ever had and in fact are AVERAGE at best, for some reason their pick and choose ensemble really does allow me to perfectly satisfy my appetite. I particularly like the fountain valley location because the people that work there are nice. However, to avoid any possible sideways glances when I explain that I want EVERYTHING YOU CAN GIVE ME, I usually order online and go pick it up. FUN TIP: I like to get my chips and guac on the side, so I can microwave later and still have guac on my fixins... and then scoop the mass of meat, cheese, fajita veggies and sour cream with their salty, lime chips.

This restaurant is located in a strip that caters to the local businesses and Costco shoppers, but definitely stands out among the others in the area. Though the restaurant inside is definitely nothing to look at... if I didn't know where I was, it could pass for any number of restaurant chains, the Mexamerican food is excellent and the service is friendly.

They are helpful when you want to switch out ingredients and sauces and even put up with my more finicky, embarrassing, jerk coworkers who go with me sometimes. I love their burritos and enchiladas. I haven't had a lot of their seafood, but one time I did get a shrimp tostada that was  packed to the brim with decapod. Well worth the dollars. I'm detracting a star, because the place doesn't seem very inviting for a dinner, but it charges dinner prices. In my opinion, it's worth it, but harsh on the lunch budget and their manager's specials could be a little more special.

Loving Hut, you and your supreme master are certainly a friend of mine.

Normally a meat eater, but currently vegan, I have been looking for good vegan places to satisfy my urge for something a little heartier than normal and this place definitely provided. I had the bun hue and it was fantastic. The pho looked good as well and the rose cappuccino is really excellent, if you are into that kind of thing.

We started with the golden rolls and they were pretty good, I wish I could have gotten a few more, actually.

My boyfriend ordered the tangy chik'n and while it was pretty good, I think I liked my bun hue quite a bit more. The broth packed a really good punch and while I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken chucks they plopped in there, the beef was fantastic. It was stocked to the brim with all kinds of veggies and tofus though, I had enough to bring home and eat for lunch the next day.

We finished it off with the best piece of vegan cheesecake I had ever had. I could have eaten a whole pie of that.

The decor was fairly simple, not offensive or uncomfortable. The tvs of course had on the Supreme Master TV, which as far as cults go, isn't so bad. Ms Ching Hai won't bite you, I suppose. Just keep that O'Douls away from me.

First and most importantly, the food here is delicious. It definitely satisfies the carnivore in me and gives me a taste of what I've been missing since taking part in a vegan contest for the last three weeks. It was really tasty, although it did seem a little hastily assembled. You know, the texture of the potstickers was lacking in "stick" and the crispy chicken sandwich was already falling apart before it even reached the table, but none of this matters much to me personally, so long as it tastes good, and it did. The pot pie my boyfriend ordered was decent, maybe a little on the bland side, but hearty and filling.

My main gripe here is the service. I mean, the gal was certainly friendly enough, but when I order an iced tea, I'd like to eventually receive an iced tea. And when you forget to bring it and then make yourself scarce  until the check shows up, you don't give me the opportunity to remind you. That's all I'm saying.

I would totally come back, I mean, it was absolutely delicious and the prices were reasonable, but next time I guess I'll bring in my own drink.

I adore my cut and color from this salon!

Came in for a cut and color a few days ago. I have a platinum bob with bangs and I was looking for a cut that would be easy to style myself and frame my face in a flattering way. So basically, I'm terrible client to have, because I am really bad at specifying what I want. However, my stylist Brianne totally worked it perfectly, right down to the bangs. Not to mention, offered me a deep conditioning treatment that completely rejuvenated my bleached out hair.

I would definitely suggest making an appointment or reservation, because they can be busy at times. Of course, if you don't, they provide magazines, books and free wi-fi to pass the time. I highly suggest Brianne, she's a babe.

Yes, I am writing a review for a grocery store.

Basically, as a grocery store, this place is lacking in groceries. It's a smaller location and I would hate it if I actually lived close by and had to do my regular shopping here. However, that's not the case. I work nearby and get my SANDWICHES here.

Their deli has a sandwich counter that has 6 inch, packed, subs for 3.99 and I am smitten with them. I'm noshing on a roast beef and cheddar as I type this and it ranks with the overpriced sandwiches you would get elsewhere. I recommend it for lunch, definitely. They also have paninis and hot sandwiches that are quite good as well. It's funny because their deli sandwiches that they make right in front of you are actually less expensive than the sandwiches they have prepackaged for you to buy. You can see them actually get the meat from the deli itself and all the produce comes directly from the produce shelves. Delish!

Extra points for very friendly employees!
