i also ALWAYS pick up their store-made tza tziki - it's delicious and low fat.
HOWEVER, the lines obviously suck, the store is always crowded and disorganized, and some of their prices on things are laughably outrageous.
i had a really annoying experience in the coffee department the other day. oh my god it bugs me so much.
me: hi i need half a pound of dark espresso please
bitch: honey, espresso is just a preparation of normal coffee beans. what kind of beans do you want.
me: (probably rolling my eyes) dark espresso beans finely ground for an espresso machine. 1/2 lb please
bitch: ok honey you just need to figure out what kind of coffee you want. espresso is just a type of roast.
me: i get it. i want a dark espresso roast. 1/2 lb. finely ground for an espresso machine.
bitch: blah blah blah blah (lots of talking about coffee roasting)
me: that sign says dark espresso, right? i don't care what kind of bean it is. i want that. 1/2 lb.
bitch: ok honey but just so you know, this is just normal coffee.
oh. my. god. someone needs to erase all of the coffee information from her brain that she tried to retain from her 15 minute coffee orientation video. worst.

we walked in last saturday to look around, and we were lucky enough to fall into Andy Feldman's hands right away. he's not your average "car salesman" - he's different, in a very very good way. andy is there to facilitate the buying of a car in whatever manner is best for his customer. there's no pushing, no games, no fast talking, no nonsense. he listens to you, and he never gets impatient or hurried.
so i test drove 2 cars on my first visit, and promised that my husband and i would return on monday after we had some time to think over a few issues and do our own research. he didn't pressure us into buying a car on saturday - we had informed him earlier that we absolutely were not walking away with a car that day. but the amazing thing is that he didn't hurry us out or give us any less attention. the reality was that we were very serious buyers who needed a day or two.
he followed up with us, and we returned on monday. i took another car out, and he helped us decide which car was right for us.
we just drove ourselves home in our brand new car. i am so happy with it. it's my very first "new" new car and i'm psyched.
andy was great, as was everyone we spoke with at bay ridge honda. everyone is personable & knows what they're doing.
tom johnson, the insurance & finance specialist, was really professional and made things easy to understand. he didn't push us into all kinds of nonsense, but instead guided us towards the right decision for us.
we will definitely be repeat customers, and we'll be using their service department for the foreseeable future. i have no complaints about any facet of our car-buying experience.

excellent coffee! i believe it's by Intelligentsia. the service is friendly, and they have great loose teas (i've had the earl grey and the rooibos).
someday when i'm not on a GD diet i will chow down on some of their great-looking ice cream.
also, i think it's funny when they park out front of bed bath & beyond on 6th and all of their customers get "monroe'd" by the subway grates.

i got the non-fat wildberry yogurt, and it was good. just good. the price was OK. the service was fine. i have no complaints but there's really nothing special going on here.
i also sampled the peanut butter yogurt and it was great, but alas, too fattening.

the drawback is that you have to watch people consume horrific "food", and ew ew ew the greasy door handle is so gross.

the wait is unbearable. the line hinders shopping in certain aisles. customers are exasperated, the staff is at capacity.
but goddam it those prices are the best in the world!
i just sack up and do it every once in a while.
i have never wanted TCBY so badly as i did yesterday, and their phone recording did not bother to tell a van-full of yogurt-hunters that they're PERMANENTLY CLOSED!
biggest disappointment.

apart from the fascinating pretzel sandwiches, delicious pretzels, wonderful teas (they brew Mighty Leaf), and great atmosphere, they make some delectable mustards and other dipping substances.
i recommend one of everything.

need something "alice in wonderland" themed for a girlfriend?
need a kitschy, fabulous, colorful cake stand?
need a serving platter with an apartment floor plan?
need a cookie cutter in the shape of NJ for a native?
i'm not sure if anyone needs any of this stuff, but dang, fish's eddy has the best gifts around. this is my go-to spot for just about everyone on my shopping list.
and the prices! holy balls! how do they make such unique items at such reasonable prices?
word to the wise: don't wear a backpack when you're inside. oops.
