California Pizza Kitchen

Neighborhood: Downtown
I was up in Los Angeles for business and thankfully my hotel was located in the new watercourt area of Downtown LA where I found a GREAT Mexican restaurant called CASA! If you love Mexican food and a cool Happy Hour, you need to stop by this place.
The restaurant is very young, hip, and has a modern Spanish style feel to it. Lots of cool booths, tables, chairs all different looking but still seem to fit together. I personally felt like I was "home" at Casa cause I got sat at the smallest table ever, (it was like the kiddie table!)
My friend and I ordered the ceviche and just WOW! Talk about the best ceviche ever! You get a cup of ceviche but I wanted to go to the back and grab the whole bucket!! I also ordered the "Ensalada de Cesear con Pollo" translation- Chicken Cesar Salad! (I know sounds boring!) The salad was so good and yes, I did go to the back and grab the whole bucket and devoured that too!!

The Gathering

I have been to this place twice now and really like it! The waitresses are super nice and accommodating to your group. This is one of those place you can roll to with a huge group of people, make lots of noise and the staff party's along with you! The waitress I had was the older woman who reminds you of Flo from Mel's Diner! I am always ready to hear her say, "KISS MY GRITS!" She is awesome!!
They have muffins and pastries waiting for you when you come in and even give you the leftovers in a doggy bag! The food is good as well and if you haven't tried the Spanish Omelette is SO GOOD! I stumbled onto this omelette by accident. I read it as SPINACH instead of SPANISH but I am glad I made that mistake cause it's GREAT EATS!
It's a great place to meet up with friends, catch up and eat!
This Sports Chalet pretty much has everything you need! I am getting ready for a 5K and for this year's Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk and this was my store of choice!
You want running sock? THEY GOT IT!
You want camel backpacks? THEY GOT IT!
You want those tight fitting, non-cotton, clingy muscle shirts? THEY GOT IT!
They have it all for you!
One thing I would want to change is the line for when you check out. At the time I came, it was set up like the course on a ski slope! Stations lined up everywhere and not really leading to the cashier! I ended up just ducking underneath to get to the cashier!!
But yeah, you took me to the limit Sport Chalet! THANKS!

Jack In the Box
Category: Restaurants
Neighborhood: Lomita
I grew up in this area and have been to this Jack in the Box and just recently went at 11pm in the evening and no matter what time you go or what day it is, you will end up waiting a minimum of 20 minutes for your order! (And I am being serious! No exaggeration here!)
I know we are REALLY laid back in San Diego but come on! All I want is a salad! THAT'S IT! Throw some lettuce, tomatoes, some queso and a grilled piece of chicken and BAM, a salad! It shouldn't take you a whole day just to get me my food!!
I bet Jack would be very unhappy! Hey Jack if you are reading this, you need to give the fear of a "bowl-cut" to your employees at this Jack in the Box!!

Medifast Weight Control Center Mission Valley
Category: Nutritionists
Neighborhood: Mission Valley
So, I have been on this Medifast Program for a year now and lost a total of 70 pounds but I'm not gonna lie, I pretty much have been sitting in the same weight for the past couple months.
So, I decided to switch centers to try to lose more weight and I am glad I moved.
This is a new center right in the middle of Mission Valley. It is a bit weird that the center is in the middle of an office building cause it feels a bit like an actual medical office but you get over that quickly. The staff at this center is super nice and seem to really want to help you lose weight! Plus the center is new, clean, and well organized.

Hamburger Factory Restaurant

Neighborhood: Poway
I met a friend here and was in awe that I was still in Poway! When you first walk in, you feel like you are transported to Critter Country USA. at Disneyland and the vibe is really relaxed and "family-country" like.
Visually, the place is covered from ceiling to floor with animal heads, lights, boats, and so much more I can't list! It's overwhelming but in a really good way! Plus, they really know how to treat the kids here!! The have the coloring stuff all ready to go when you sit at your table!!
As far as the food, I ordered the California Omelette with Country Potatoes and a biscuit and I have to say, I was NOT disappointed in my decision! Talk about a delicious "home-style" meal!!! I wanted to go back for seconds! (Actually, I just wanted to go back and grab a tray full of the biscuits!! WOW! flaky, light and OH SO tight!)
The waitress was VERY friendly and accommodating and made sure my drink was always full! She wasn't too pushy nor was she always up on us. She could tell, that I had not seen my friend in years and really didn't bother us. At one point, I was so engulfed in my conversation that I stopped and realized that there was food in front of me and my drink had been refilled and I didn't even notice! Talk about service! I will for sure have to come back and see how dinner is here!

Old Poway Park
Category: Landmarks & Historical Buildings
Neighborhood: Poway
If you are an avid photographer, professional photographer or aspiring photographer like myself, this place is a definite MUST SHOOT!
The park is HUGE and has a variety of areas to shoot families, individuals, pets, macros, landscapes, etc. I dare you to not find a place here that is not photo-worthy!
I really enjoy the winter time cause the colors of the leaves with the grass and the old wooden buildings is a great backdrop for any photographer and TRUST me, you will be able to take AMAZING photos from here!
I suggest you go early, like 9am cause at 10am the train station opens that provides rides around the park and that means more people walking around!
Check this place out cause you won't be disappointed!!

San Diego Convention Center
Category: Venues & Event Spaces
I have gone to the Convention Center many times for Comic Con, Warehouse Jean Sale, and other events that I have had to attend or host for work and I have to say the space is massive!
Most recently, I went to the San Diego Internatioanl Auto Show and at one end of the Convention Center they had a Jeep obstacle course inside where you actually get to drive a Jeep up a hill, over logs, on a slope and plus there was still space for a whole buttload of cars, motorcycles and boats!
With that being said, this review is going out to the peeps who decide about where COmic Con is being held! Why do you say there is no room in the convention center? I think there is tons of room for the whole Con! I say, keep the con here cause I sure enjoy watching the "hardcore" comic con folks get dressed up and walk around Downtown! PLEASE, DON'T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME!!

Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 & IMAX
Category: Cinema
This theater is awesome! Granted it's busy all the time and the parking lot is always packed but the theater itself is a good theater to go to, especially if you are going to see an movie in IMAX! The screen is so HUGE and you seriously feel like you are in the movie but DON'T get there late cause if you end up sitting in the first 2 rows, you will get sick and you might just end up with a headache!
On a different note, I had to drop the theater a star for the layout of everything. The lobby is just plain weird! We need to keep everyone out unless you are watching the movie! It's just chaotic with the concessions in the middle with people waiting around, buying tickets, and playing video games all in the lobby. Granted once you walk into the "ticket only area" the crowd is less but still just seems a bit chaotic.
Another star has to be dropped for the seats. I know people who like the "recliner style" seating but for me, it just felt uncomfortable and every time I tried to get the seat to sit straight up during the movie, I found myself slowly sliding back into an awkward reclined position.
Overall, I would come back for a HUGE movie like Batman, Spiderman or Avatar but not for a regular movie!

I barely found this place in the heart of downtown LA. It's kind of hidden under a building and not really all that busy which was a plus right at dinner time. (But then again, I figured it wasn't busy cause it is tucked away).
I ordered the classic Waldorf Chicken Salad and it was very delicious as it usually is. I think honestly, its one of those CPK's that is probably SUPER busy during lunch but if you find yourself in the part of Downtown LA at dinner time and want a good meal, without the wait, this option is here for you!
