My sister took me here in December, noting that she'd order the Hong Kong Style Pork Chops and various silogs whenever she was in the area. I had been fighting a cold that was kicking my butt for the past couple of weeks and needing something that would help me feel better. Who knew pork chops would solve that problem?

Granted it didn't cure my cold, but those were some pretty damn delicious pork chops! Doused in vinegar... *drool* For its price, I was presented a buttload of food. Pork chops, garlic rice, pineapple (?!) on the side,  and an egg... I couldn't even finish it. SO GOOD.

I'm actually anticipating my visit back to San Francisco/Daly City just to eat these pork chops again. I can't find anything like this in San Diego. I love you, Daly City.

Niederfrank's Ice Cream

It's strange: I've lived near National City practically my whole life and it's only within the past 3 years that I've been going to Niederfrank's. I've always thought Niederfrank's was a vendor that would appear at the local Filipino festivals I'd go to on a yearly basis. Yup, definitely wrong on that account.

Every time I come here, I'm overwhelmed with all of the different selections! I'm not even sure I have a definite favorite: everything I've had thus far has been pretty tasty. I haven't been disappointed yet; let's hope that stays that way. The two flavors that stood out to me the most so far were Raspberry Truffle and Macadamia Nut Toffee. If anybody else has any suggestions, feel free to hit me up. I'm down to try more flavors.

I'm so distracted by all of the ice cream flavors that I forget to take my Lactaid :( It's a kick in the butt for me, but hnnngh, it's so delicious...

If you're up for some old fashioned ice cream and want to try some crazy flavors outside of the norms of Dreyer's and the like, hit up Niederfranks. Just make sure to bring cash as it's a cash-only establishment. There's an ATM, but I'm not one for surcharge fees, haha.

Long time no Yelp! :B

Came here on a whim after finding out Restaurant Week had been extended. I've always wanted to try this place out! And heck, 3 courses for $30? I'm down.

The boyfriend and I came here on a Monday night, so there were little to no people here. We got seated promptly and were greeted by our waiter, Tim. He's really friendly, funny, easy to converse with, and very attentive. He even gave us a movie recommendation within the first 5 minutes of meeting him. Note to self: watch The Invention of Lying.

For appetizers, I got the french onion soup while the boyfriend ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops with crab meat. While waiting for the scallops, we were given a sample of the beer cheese soup to dip our bread in. So nice! French onion soup's been a hit-or-miss kind of thing for me, but 94th Aero Squadron's hit. The. Spot. I was sad when I realized I ran out of soup.

For our entrees, we both ordered the steak and lobster tail. I got mind with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I didn't expect the creamed corn on the side, though. Why can't they serve the creamed corn in a larger bowl?! I think I'm addicted to it D:

The steak and lobster plate made me K.O. D: I didn't realize how filling it was until I had two pieces of steak left to eat. TWO PIECES. I couldn't muster the courage to eat the last two pieces, so away they went :(

What caught me by surprise was the dessert tray. I was ready to order the creme brulee as listed on the Restaurant Week menu (as I usually do at restaurants; I love creme brulee) but then I saw a massive array of (plastic) foods displayed on a tray. I immediately went for the tiramisu while the boyfriend picked out chocolate-dipped strawberries in whipped cream. Two delectable desserts that furthered our food coma, but WHATEVER. IT WAS AWESOME.

Impeccable service, delicious food, and a really cozy environment: everything that I could ever want.  I loved my experience at 94th Aero Squadron and will be looking forward to my next trip.

Holy hell: this place. Is. AWESOME.

The hours are random despite what's posted on their storefront. I've always wanted to try this place out ever since it opened up since it's across the street from my sister's apartment but it always seemed to be closed every time we passed by :(

This morning, the boyfriend and I were getting ready to go out and were really craving spring rolls. We took a peek outside and finally saw the shop open! He dashed across the street and picked up a BBQ pork banh mi and some spring rolls.

Now, about those spring rolls; they're more like burritos to me! I've never had a spring roll that chunky and full of amazing: it even had tofu bits in it! YES. I've never had spring rolls with tofu bits in them. Soooo good.

The BBQ pork banh mi was awesome, too. Words cannot describe how awesome it was for me. I was quiet the whole time I ate my half of the sandwich :x

Fresh ingredients and very warm, toasty bread...mmm. Now it's just a matter of timing it and coming there when it's actually open ;x hahaha.

Giant Robot is an extremely dangerous store for me. Why, you ask?

I'm a sucker for blind box and capsule toys and this place definitely feeds my addiction. If it's cute, sparkly, and outright random, I'm going to buy it. No questions asked. Don't ever leave me in this store for more than an hour :x

Uglydolls: check. Domo-kun collectibles: check. Aspergillus oryzae plush dolls from Moyashimon: triple-check. The fact that I can find Moyashimon paraphernalia makes me happy :)

I also love going there to check out the art gallery: it's my favorite part of the store.

This is my go-to spot when if I need to pick up any art supplies quickly like inking pens, single Prismacolors, and the like.

There's so much random stuff in here! You can get beads, trims, sketchbooks, paints, fabrics, and much more.

The staff is hit or miss. Sometimes...SOMETIMES, they're helpful, other times not so much ;( Ah well.

I've never been so overwhelmed with candy in my life!

Spent a good amount of time in here simply browsing around and looking at all the different goodies they had for sale. I nearly cried tears of joy when I saw they had Fruit Stripe gum ;_; Oh, childhood!

Anything you want, they probably have. There's a massive array of Jelly Belly jelly beans, M&M's, sour candy powder, and all kinds of gummies (STRAWBERRY PUFFS! WOO HOO), mints, and...well, whatever you can think of!

They also sell gelato and chocolate goodies. I ordered a child size coppa mista (which turned out to be the right size for me; they really pack it with gelato!) and got my boyfriend a piece of chocolate-covered bacon. Yes, chocolate-covered bacon :o

Get the coppa mista! It has chocolate, vanila, almond, and pistachio gelato mixed into one conglomerate of delectable goodness. I wouldn't say the same thing about the chocolate-covered bacon, though :x As my boyfriend would say it, "It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. It was...unique." It's more of an acquired taste and not really worth the $3.99 for that one piece on a stick :(

Even if you don't like candy, this place is a trip. Plus, any place that sells Leninade (alongside other awesome sodas) merits a recommendation from me ;D

Another one of my favorite crepe places to go to whenever I'm in San Francisco. It's in close proximity to my sister's apartment in the Inner Richmond. Plus, I like hitting this place up whenever I walk around Clement.

The boyfriend's crepe of choice is chocolate ice cream with cheesecake. It's enormous, but very delicious and perfectly sized for the both of us to share :)

I finally tried egg puffs for the first time here and I must say: I approve. The thing is, they do take a long time to make. Combine that with ordering two crepes during nighttime on the weekend = extremely restless. Then again, I'm used to coming here during the week in the early afternoon. At least I amused myself with all of the little Japanese snacks and goodies they have for sale.

Sometimes I'd rather come here to get some blind-box toys than to Japantown. They actually have a decent selection to choose from!

My sister's husband suggested having brunch out here since it was close to his work. When we got there, there was a massive amount of people waiting! I almost felt discouraged and thought we'd never get seated until we got seated in a jiffy. Woo hoo!

I ordered the Boogaloo Classic, which consisted of 2 eggs done however you want (sunny side up for me!), some homefries, and a herb gravy-drenched biscuit. My most favorite item from the Classic was the biscuit: a beautiful union of awesomeness I must say. The fries were good, but the biscuit pretty much stole the show for me.

If I could bring back some gravy-drenched biscuits back down to San Diego, I would.

Came here while gallivanting around the Mission looking for a snack to munch on to provide some kind of substance.

Ended up ordering a couple of large fries with some sauces. I thought the sauces were going to be a bit larger than what was given to us, but whatever. Pesto mayo = win! Bacon mayo... was okay. There wasn't enough bacon in it :( i liked the pesto mayo better.

As for the actual fries, they came out in a milkshake glass. They were also really, really thick. Slightly crisp on the outside, but jam-packed with spuds on the inside. Very nice for a quick snack and to share with a couple of friends!

Out of all the things there, I actually got a kick out of the bathroom. While waiting for our food, my sister went to go use their bathroom. After coming out of there, she immediately told me to go inside and check it out for myself, whether I needed to use it or not. I went ahead and got inside, only to have been greeted in Japanese. I was like, "What the hell, did the bathroom just say 'konnichiwa' to me?" Out of instinct, I said to myself, "Ha...hajimemashite D:" only to realize it was an automated Japanese lesson, lol. Total facepalm.

In short, come here for some Belgian fries and a lesson in Japanese while using the bathroom. :D
