La Moon Restaurant

I usually try to stay away from greasy food as it's bad for my health, makes me fat and doesn't sit too well with my stomach soon after i'm done eating it. With that said, I LOVE eating greasy food and La Moon definitely satisfied my craving recently.  I tried their burger and a hot dog with a tiny quail egg on top. Both were DELICIOUSLY, greasy and very satisfying. The service was slow, but the result was well worth the effort. I wish I could say i'll be going back soon because i'm craving it in a very bad way, but it'll probably be a while until I burn of the last of the fat from this one meal. YUM!

Yelp's Spice Trade at the Mandarin Oriental

The Spice Trade at the Mandarin Oriental was the very first Yelp event I've ever attended and I have to say I could not have been more impressed.  The Oasis at the Mandarin is a beautiful location but the unique touches added for the event were unreal. I especially enjoyed the sand castle.

The plentiful food and drink were amazing. I especially fell in love with Mai Tardi's beet chips with goat cheese, the delicious cream cheese cupcake from 2 girls & a cupcake, Sugar Girl's cinnamon cookie and the blackberry cocktails at the Mixology station! Clearly, my focus was on dessert!

Maria truly did an outstanding job, this event could not have been improved on whatsoever.

Ceviche

 Update - 10/26/2009
We went to Ceviche for dinner on Saturday night, and although the food was still as delicious as usual, the service was so slow I couldn't believe it. We sat down and ordered a bottle of wine, but it was another half an hour before our server even took our food order. The table next to us got sat at the exact time we did (big party), and they were almost done w/ their food by the time we got to order. Not cool!

On the bright side, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the flamenco show! The banderillas mixtas, pollo al jerez & queso de cabra were delicious! The calamares rellenos weren't so good; I don't think i'll be having those again. For dessert we had the almendrado which I couldn't get enough of. Lastly, I had a glass of sangria which reminded me why I like Ceviche so much!

I used to live in St. Pete and had visited the Tampa location, which I loved. I have to say the Orlando Ceviche beats it with its separate stage/bar area and the live flamenco performances! The food is great and the Sangria is better than any i've had since I last went to Spain. Ceviche is definitely a place i'll visit again. I just wish they'd open one in Miami!

H&M Florida Mall

Although i'm glad H&M has finally graced Florida with it's presence, I gotta say I wasn't too impressed. The space is cramped, and the clothing is oddly distributed. I'm also fairly certain the clothing at the New York stores is more fashionable. The best part about my visit to H&M was the efficient fitting room staff. Surprisingly, I didn't buy a thing. For me that is very, very strange. I'm hoping that if H&M comes to Miami it'll be a little more NYC and a little less Orlando.

Johnny's Fillin' Station Cafe

Johnny's Fillin' Station is definitely one of those get-in/get-out sort of places. You want to get in quickly to enjoy their juicy burgers, and then get out just as quickly to get away from the scary patrons. We went last night for the second time before leaving Orlando. Immediately after we arrived we were seated outside and within minutes our drink orders were taken by Amy (who was very nice & polite...unlike their scary customers). Soon after we placed our order we were munching on our onion ring appetizer (good not great). We ordered a bacon/blue cheese burger & a regular cheeseburger. Both my boyfriend and I were very happy with our burgers, steak & curly fries. Luckily the service was quick, the prices were good, and the burgers were great. We were in and out in about an hour. I'd definitely recommend Johnny's if you're in the mood for a great burger.

So, after reading the rave reviews on this place we were SUPER excited to try it last night. In the afternoon i'd checked their hours of operation online and was relying on their closing at 10pm. We arrived at exactly 8:52 pm full of anticipation. Unfortunately, as we walked in we were told the place was already closed. Needless to say, this infuriated me as their hours of operation are clearly on display to customers before they've come in through the door. I don't see what kind of business ethic this place is running on, but to close over an hour early does not indicate any level of customer service.

A group of us had dinner at Metro last night after an event and were very pleased with the experience. The service is great, the atmosphere is nice and the food is good.  For starters we had the tuna tartare and the yellowfin tataki. Both were fresh and savory. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, the boys had burgers and my friend had the steak frites. The burgers were great and the sandwich was tasty. The steak frites weren't the best i've had but still very good. For dessert we had the bouchon a la mode which was delicious, but a little on the small side. It definitely shouldn't be shared by more than two people. All in all I think we'll definitely be going back.

I can't believe I had yet to review the Clinton Street Baking Company! After watching the restaurant's owners on the Food Network, I was eager to give their pancakes a try on my next trip to NYC. Now, I've been there twice and I have to say I can't wait to go back. On my first trip and had the blueberry pancakes which were TO DIE FOR!!! They could not possibly load more blueberries onto those pancakes. It's impossible (and oh so scrumptious)! On my 2nd trip I shared the buttermilk biscuit sandwich (scrambled eggs, melted cheddar, & homemade tomato jam), and the banana-nut pancakes. The sandwich's biscuit was the best I've ever tried and the homemade tomato jam made my day. The banana-nut pancakes coupled with their savory maple butter made me feel as if I'd died and gone to heaven. Visiting NYC sans a visit to the CSBC is a cardinal sin. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The baklava at this joint is delicious, but I have to say that the Istanbul location is SO much better because there are many more varieties to choose from!

I LOVE this theater! I went to see Cloudy WIth a Chance of Meatballs on Sunday in 3D at the IMAX theater in Aventura and fell in love! The crispness of the 3D screen was more realistic than I expected. It was definitely a pleasant surprise. I'll certainly be going back to see Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland there!
