I'm not sure what people are saying about the slices having a cardboard feel, honestly, I think that this is FAR from the truth.
If you are in the area, and need a nibble on the cheap, this be the spot.

Westville
Category: American (Traditional)
Neighborhood: West Village
Once you get a table, Westville is hands down, one of THE best date places in the city. The surrounding neighborhood makes this SMALL/COZY spot a great detour on a night out.
The food/price/freshness trifecta occurs with virtually every order. You will be treated to a large plate of FRESH food (w/ a LONG list of daily specials). You'll spend about $20 for a drink, entree, and dessert.
Some of my favorites: Any of the Burgers (they come on a Portuguese Muffin. You haven't had one?? TRY IT), The salads are quite hearty, and the house dressing is out of this world. I'd also highly recommend any of the veggies available on the daily "Market Plate".
Yes, you might have to wait a few minutes for a table, but make some friends outside. . . It is more than worth the wait.

All of the sandwiches that I have tried are delicious, especially the BASA FISH!!!
There is a small 2 person table out front, and maybe room for another 4 or so inside. I usually go and take the sandwich to go, maybe to the park, maybe to my home.
DO IT!

Hands down, the Arepas are tastier at this new spot. More filling (you'll only need one & an appetizer), and for the time being it is BYOB.
The space is small, good for a date.

Mousey Brown Salon & Beauty Spot
Categories: Hair Salons, Barbers
Neighborhood: Williamsburg - North Side
As a dude with tightly curly hair, it has been difficult to find someone I could trust to give me a good cut. Rita is my new go-to woman. What a great person, reasonably priced ($55+tip), and a pretty cute place to boot (located right across the street from McCarren park).
I can't recommend enough!

La Paloma Burritos
Categories: Mexican, Food
Neighborhoods: Theater District, Hell's Kitchen
For $7 and change you'll get a burrito that could certainly be 2 meals. If you start eating it by yourself, beware, as it'll be hard to stop at just one portion :)
Also, keep in mind that this is a total "fork&knife" affair, "authentic" style I suppose.
$8 minimum on credit cards.

FANTASTIC.
First, we knew that we had arrived by all of the rose petals scattered about on the sidewalk outside. Upon entry, the romance of the place would drive any woman wild.
We split a bottle of mid-priced wine, 2 delicious appetizers, 2 entrees, and the "date cake" to finish it all off. Total bill? $112!!!! (Did I say Amazing!?!)

Yes, delivery may take an hour even if you live a block away... I'll put that out there. I am still going to give this tiny spot 5 stars because I always just go and pick the food up!
Tortas = Best ever
Burritos = Easily a meal for 2 and a true taste sensation. (Try the Chicken Tinga)
Nachos = Perfection
You get the idea... It may be a literal "hole-in-the-wall", but make sure you don't overlook this gem.

MindSmack
Category: Web Design
Neighborhoods: Theater District, Hell's Kitchen
I spoke with about 10 companies, and MindSmack won me over. Their sleek design is second to none, and they promised to deliver a redesigned site in record time. Well, they lived up to their word. The work was tremendous, and I am going to recommend them highly to anyone looking for web design or development.
Date

I stumbled in on the Sunday before Labor day and was able to try both a square slice and a regular round pie slice in under 5 minutes. That being said, I'd still gladly wait around for an hour (as some of the other reviewers have pointed out) for a special slice. Next time, I'm getting a pie!
