But last night proved very disappointing. We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation, which was fine understanding that this was a busy restaurant.
But after we got seated, and ordered, the bread and water took 15 minutes to come (I had to remind our waitress, too). And 15 minutes later, there was the ceviche. And 30 minutes later, there was the main course. Quite depressing, considering the table next to us was seated at the same time and was gobbling up their red snapper and ribeyes during our 30-minute wait.
Also, both the ceviche and the boring chicken entree we overly salty.
Is the cooking staff here underpaid? Are they understaffed? I'm not sure, but for a 4-star Yelp rating, this place sucks. On the bright side, our waitress was nice.
Maybe my experience next time might be better, but waiting for an hour for your food on an empty stomach can set you on the wrong foot, which is why I won't choose this place for another meal.
Limon is all glimmer and no gold.
Chef Donato does a fabulous job. I was very impressed by my oxtail pasta. The homemade "bigoli" pasta was delicious, with the right blend of flavors and oxtail and parmesan tidbits.
The spicy sausage and broccoli rabe pizza my bf got was also really good, piping hot from the oven.
Their wild boar bruschetta--something to try! And we finished everything off with a quarto of chianti. YUM!
Sitting next to the open kitchen, I got a peek at what else looked good. Gotta say, their baked whole seabass looked solid. Definitely giving that one a spin, as well as the veal shank.
This place has my mouth watering!

I remember seeing one of their staff members working quite elegantly on her laptop on a simple wooden table dating back to the 1700s. It was such an interesting contrast. Maybe that's why on my last visit, the table was gone.
Oh, and they are one of the few places where you can taste blackbirds, so that's a plus :) 2006 Paramour and Contrarian are amazing.
The staff is also quite friendly... always a plus.

- Good coffee while we wait. (there are always cute dogs outside too)
- Delicious huevos rancheros with green chili and chorizos. Give their chorizos a spin -- they are really good.
- To die for beignets. So so good.
- Friendly service.
- Great prices. $4 for three large beignets.
Would take the caltrain up just to get brunch here!

But I didn't find the dinner as delicious as I had hoped. My bf got the lobster, the pappardelle with lamb, the chicken, and the greek yogurt sorbet. I got the less traditional fare, so the snails, rabbit ravioli, veal, and the beignets. Probably the most delicious was the greek yogurt sorbet, but nothing else truly stood out.
It was a memorable experience nevertheless. The service was fantastic, but the dishes could use more flare.

But if you do come here, give the happy buns (duck in chinese steamed bread + plum dipping sauce) and the ahi tuna salad (with avo) a spin. Their margaritas are also pretty good. Things tend to be on the saltier side, so rice is a good option.
Three dishes + drinks later, we were still pining for something more substantial. $80 for two.
We noticed an elderly couple sitting across from us. They ordered a bottle of wine and were sipping contently. I was waiting to see what they ordered for dinner. A few minutes later, BAM! The waiter delivered 2 orders of cheeseburgers with fries.
I'd be more than happy to come back for another meal, but my gosh, next time I come, I'm getting those mean-looking burgers!
p.s. agreed--their chocolate souffle is amazing.
Their new pomegranate is pretty good as well.
The regular yogurt? Skip that (my old review).
And btw, they also have a secret--their chocolate chip cookies are amazing.

When I think of a yogurt place, I think of many flavors, many toppings, a warm environment.
Come here once to try what a healthy, good yogurt is... and then go to Whole Foods to buy yourself lots of specialties, b/c my regular-sized whole milk with rolled oats, 2 toppings plus maple syrup cost me $6.50. Whoa.
This place has potential. Sir/madam Owner, if you're thinking about improving:
- choices, choices, choices: give me toppings I've never imagined (how about fig?.. I do love fig. Or cocoa nibs? And how about lavender- or jasmine-infused yogurt? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES!). And my willingness to pay the $6.50 will increase, too!
- make this place warmer in ambiance.. like more soft areas to absorb the sound currently bouncing off the walls
- I smelled clorox stepping in...

Also, love their fruit samples, right as you step in the door.
And I plan to go through their entire cheese selection, from one end of the showcase to the other. hehehe :)
