I'm heartbroken that I will never get to order the crispy cornered mushroom butter drizzled cheesy tomatoey La Totale ever again.

We felt a little bit like Nick & Nora out on the town, Asta at home, cocktails a swillin' in our seats at the end of the bar.

We oo'ed and aah'ed over the a giant ice diamonds bathing in our bourbon, and hoorayed after three.

Ace place, ace place this place.

I was baffled by our service.
Is this a small plates concept?
Is there a reason he didn't take our full order?
Am I supposed to order in rounds?
Confused.

I'm pretty used to being introduced to what's awesome/special in a restaurant by my server, but ours was alas, hmm, stilted? Maybe he was having a bad night? There were no warm hellos, or highlights of the menu given. Overall, there seemed to be a lack of service 'flow' between our server and his backup server (?), this left me feeling a bit dismayed.

But the food managed to shine through. My partner was enamored by the chicken, I enjoyed the short ribs. But, what really blew us away was the dessert. Get the fig newton with stilton cheese ice-cream, accompany with a sparkling rose and call it a revelation. It's a cheese course and dessert rolled into one, awesome.

The quality of products and level of service here are phenomenal, basically you are shopping in a Parisian boutique without the plane ticket.

I was visiting Seattle, and simply browsing the store when I decided that yes, I needed a new perfume. The boutique's owner, who was warm and friendly, guided me though a series of scents based on my descriptions of what I like. Her selections were perfection and I felt like I landed on something adventurous and original.

Essenza may not be a bargain, but it's an experience. I'd consider returning on my next trip to Seattle!

Invision Optometry gets nothing but love from me. Everytime I've been there, I leave so happy I end up dropping dollar bills up and down Fillmore street.

Dr. Edna Lee is so personable and informative, and all the people in the front of the house are also thorough and diligent. They've fixed several pairs of sunglasses and frames that should have been beyond repair, cutting lenses for my stepped on frames (ouch) and simply adjusting ill fitting old frames as well.

Love you guys!

Even if you're not a fixie rider, this place is worth a visit for accessories. I just got a sparkly Nutcase helmet, and am loving it! Also, the decor feels like a bike-candy store=white with candy colors poppin'. You may come away thinking that you've got to return for more.

I think the curry-in-a-hurry concept will finally stop the churning at this downtown restaurant (within 6 months this space has has been Lunchsomething, Castafiore, and now it's Bindi)

Saw the $5 lunch box(!) on a streetside board, and decided to give it a go. What a great deal! 3 items for $6.00 is where the price tops out at. Stick with the meal deal and naan, the channa saag and chicken tikka masala are my favorites. Don't bother with the Samosas. They were lacking in flavor, and given that the mint chutney is watery and flavorless, there was no saving them!

I think if the business had an area for take out people to eat in on that upper level, they might benefit from making the restaurant look fuller. It's a little sad and empty looking right now, and it seems like a waste of space.

Overall, count me in for that take out curry!

Peko-Peko Pop Up Restaurant @ Guerilla Cafe

Last night's Peko-Peko take over of the Guerilla Cafe was a vibrant bustling scene. A crowd of people waited for the precious few seats available for this special one night only event.

Hunkering down over bowls of fragrant dashi while on stools at the counter, brought home the ikazaya (pub) feeling. A couple beers were downed while small plate after small plate of the absolute freshest food came to us. A tomato salad, eggplant agadashi, potato croquettes...it was all so good.

I look forward to more pop-up events by Peko-Peko!

My friend D and I came in here 10min before closing, HOPEing that getting a bite would be feasible. The staff were beyond kind, we sat at the bar and proceeded to have some of the best seafood I've had in a while.

There is one thing here that is so delectable, I'm dreaming of it days later: The warm sea urchin in the shell. I'd never tried sea urchin...and we hesitated, but our server convinced us (rightly so) that this was the best thing on the menu.

This was followed by the other star hits: Angels on Horseback, and the Lobster Roll.

I'll be back for sure, the staff was friendly, and the food top notch.

Tacqueria by day, full service sit down at night, and margaritas available in both modes of operation. Damn, that's smart...and works for me. Works for me at least twice a week in fact.

Stand-out items:

-fish tacos
-al-pastor tacos with smoky sweet grilled pineapple on top (dinner menu)
-camarones tropisueno (dinner menu)
-the margaritas rimmed with chile salt

Stick around long enough and you'll leave loving "Tropishhhhueno".
