Alice's Tea Cup

Jabberwocky was quite unnecessary. It included: 2 scones, unlimited sandwiches, pot of tea, and a couple desserts. At least we can take home the sandwiches. If you're going with the Jabberwocky deal, you should eat half of a half sandwich, so you can try all the sandwiches you want without getting full. I do have a big appetite, but when you're at such a place as Alice's Tea Cup...you...dine...gingerly with grace. No? Yes.

If you're looking to dine from the tiered serving set, I would recommend the "mad hatter"  which should probably be the right amount. The sandwich equates to a whole sandwich because they cut a whole sandwich in half. The scones are pretty filling and delicious. The desserts on the bottom tier tasted alright, nothing special.

One would come here for the experience, not so much for how great the food tastes because it's all mediocre. (Minus some of the scone selections)

Tea: A huge variety. You will definitely find one that sounds appealing. Actually, you'll probably find more than one that sounds delish.

Sandwiches:
-Black Forest Ham and Gruyere was my favorite
-Smoke Salmon - your average smoked salmon sandwich
-Lapsang Souchong Smoked Chicken Breast was very different. The granny smith apples taste is very distinct, but it's a well balanced sandwich.
-Chopped tea egg salad was too mayonnaisey and dry for me
-Cucumber and watercress if you like a lightly flavored sandwich.
-Curried Chicken Salad Sandwich has a heavy curry flavor-so try this if you're a curry fan! Definitely not your typical green/red curry type of flavor though.

Scones:
Pumpkin - I love pumpkin, and this was pretty good.
Blackberry Lemon - Not a blueberry-flavored-baked-goods-fan, but this was...delicious...
Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt - Not bad, but a couple bite were enough.

Next time I will try one of the salted scones like ham and cheese.

The bathroom is neatso. Too bad there's only one. Apparently there was always a line when I went. I guess something there makes you wanna release.

The tea selection, tea pot, and the scones do justice. I would definitely come back for my afternoon scone + tea fix. Just no more jabberwocky please, too much food. This is not a place to stuff yourself. I mean..unlimited sandwiches? Of course you're going to wanna try them all!

DUDE, WHO WOULD'VE KNOWN CHICKEN AND RICE COULD BE SO ... DIVINE?

Sniff, sniff, Oh yum. You'll smell like food from standing around the cart, but who currs.

I ordered the combo because I had to try the chicken since that was supposedly the shittake and I personally love lamb. However, the chicken was definitely the winner. While I was devouring the chicken, I secretly hoped the lamb would transform into chicken.

The tahini sauce is fantastic, as is the BBQ sauce and hot sauce. Yes, now this is what I am talking about when it comes to HOT sauce.

Best proof that it's HOT sauce:
Some girl drops the bottle and the hot sauce projectiles onto my face, into my hair, onto my shorts. Nobody notices that I was just ..kind of..covered in hot sauce.Yikes, BBQ sauce?--I thought. Eyes burning--fudgeee it's hot sauce. AHHH. It was next to my eye, not in --Thank goodness.

You can ask for sauces to-go.

I love chicken and rice because of this cart. Six dollars for a freshly prepared, well packed, flavorful meal with meat and veggies AND pita? HAYYLLLL YEAAAAA.

Creme brulee- I was able to taste the torched film of the creme brulee. I do love burnt food!

Lavender Cake- Just a hint of lavender. Definitely get the yeast donut for Lavender over the cake doughnut.

Blackout- If you love chocolate, you will LOVE this. I don't LOVE chocolate, but   my fellow friend LOVED IT to the point of dropping down to his knees and saying OMG. It was hilarious. He went back just to get another blackout.

Matcha Green Tea- Tasted like green tea, but this was mediocre.

Tres Leche - Surprisingly not too sweet. Yummy sweet delight.

Some Oatmeal one- This was really yummy. I cannot recall the name though. Might have been a special.

Hint Hint, go urinate. It's kinda shiny.

One of those, "OH MY GOODNESS, IT'S SO GOOD" places. Lived up to its hype? SURE DID. Surprise, surprise. I didn't expect myself to crave it so much. I was very hungry, but I am pretty sure the burger and shake were fantastic because they truly were.

Shack Burger was MMMM , MMM good, but dang, kinda pricy for that little thang, doncha think?

Apparently they brought back the Diagon Halle Concrete Shake. It had vanilla custard blended with chocolate truffle cookie dough and fresh raspberries. Raspberries were such a great touch, including the truffle. If you usually aren't a fruity chocolate type of person, you will still really enjoy this shake.

Next time I must try them fries to get the full shake shack experience.

Folks compare this to in-n-out. I like both, don't compare burgers that aren't the same. Innout has its own flair as does Shake Shack.

Such a place opened for 24 hours? What the what? I would totally enjoy a spontaneous middle of the night date here-- I say that as in it'd be an appropriate setting to dress nicely and come dine at.

Complimentary biscuits? SURE THING.

To start off with, I tried the mac n cheese spring rolls (picture). Not usually a mac n' cheese fan, but this tasted decent. I mean, it really just tasted like man n cheese encased in an egg roll wrap. Nada spectacular.

As my entree, I ordered an appetizer. Twas' fried chicken and waffle sliders with apple coleslaw (picture). Yes, this was quite enjoyable. I loved the idea of using the waffles as buns. Well balanced flavor of purple lettuce, apple cider coleslaw, and pickles. Two sliders = filling enough for a midnight snack.

If I lived around here and wanted a great meal in the wee hours, I would come here. It wouldn't feel like after hours though. You just don't see such a restaurant stay open throughout the day and night.

Quite a clever concept, eh?

I had no expectations, which made it better. My friend just asked if I wanted to try "Belgian fries with various dipping sauces." Never tried
Belgian fries and various is always a check+ for me.

SO MANY SAUCES TO TRY. MUST COME BACK. MUST. Haha.

The fries were fresh, warm & crispy. I could eat the fries by itself.

Vietnamese Pineapple Mango- Reminded me of sweet and sour sauce style flavor. I liked it, yes.

Rosemary Garlic Mayo - Good for a creamy selection. Does have a good amount of rosemary flavor to it..so if you aren't a fan of rosemary...this be a no-go.

Sweet Mango Chutney Mayo- I really liked this. The mango wasn't too overpowering at all-not that overpowering mango flavor is a bad thing.

Onion, frite sauce, ketchup- Doesn't taste too bad...but had an aroma/flavor of....took my fellow diner and me a couple hours to come up with....BO. It really tasted like BO.

Limited seating, but the fries are served in a cone, so if you don't have too many sauces, just walk and chomp!

I really only came here to try them grasshopper tacos (picture).
Verdict? I was not fond of the seasoning at all, unless the overpowering taste was the grasshoppers themselves. The first bite left me thinking "interesting" and the remaining bites were forced.

The margarita has sea salt foam, which was pretty radical. Felt like you were sipping foam straight from the seashore.

OKRA-TEXTURE
Nopal asado con salsa molcajete (picture): Grilled fresh cactus paddles served with a salsa molcajete of grilled tomatoes, tomatillos, green onions, cilantro and green chiles. It reminded me of OKRA--YUM.

SAVORY
Papas al Mole (picture): José Andrés' favorite potato fries in a mole poblano sauce of almonds, chilis and a touch of chocolate, topped with Mexican
cream and queso fresco cheese. Never heard of such a topping for fries, eh?

REFRESHING
Coctel de Camaron (picture): Shrimp & crab served with tomato sauce, avocado, red onions and tortilla chips. Seafood ceviche with avocado? CHECK!

WISH I TRIED
The freshly prepared guacamole...

Overall a great dining experience. Great service and atmosphere. My fellow diners & I sat right at the window seat (to the left upon entering) where the sun shined right through. Beautiful.

I would only come here for the snow ice.

Everything else was not up to par. The stinky tofu was not satisfying. Could be a lot more stinky and a lot more crispy.
The fried mozzarella sticks, I mean tempura were only good with some soy sauce and chili.

Okay, back to the snowice: the most delectable snowice besides ordering it in Taiwan.

The mango with mochi is very filling. THE MOCHI IS REALLY GOOD THOUGH. Super Q and satisfying. Mmmmmm. Just go try it, I don't even want to falsely describe it.

Left Bank Brasserie

Left Bank is one of those decently priced restaurants with decent food. Service was definitely fantastic, especially since we had patio seating and the server still tended to us very often. I guess it's a place to get your cheap mediocre French meal.

The crab and shrimp risotto was alright. It wasn't flavorful enough, nor was the risotto cooked perfectly. I LOVE RISOTTO, but this didn't excite me in any way.
My fellow diner really liked her salmon dish...if I go back for whatever reason, I'll give that a try. It did look nommy!

Drinks were pretty good and priced well.

The cheapest meal on the menu was the burger, which my other fellow diner enjoyed.

All in all, Left Bank is your casual dining spot for an almost-French meal.

This dim-sum place is alright. No carts. It's old school style and setting where you order from the menu. Cilantro  "Tsang Fen" Rice Noodle is actually pretty good! Aside from that, everything else is mediocre. Service was mediocre. Wouldn't be my go-to place for dim sum. Cost of dishes are fair though. They don't have black oyster sauce for the kai-lan, What dim sum place does not serve oyster sauce with kai-lan?
