Curiosity brought us here. When in the rush of a birthday party and the madness and chaos that surrounds it, who knows what can happen? Right?

So yes, where was I? The Naughty Teddy. Color me unimpressed. Cheap treats and cheap tricks. I expected better but this is a great place if you're looking for a quick thrill or to impress that one night stand. If you're serious about that "one," go elsewhere. Nothing will please anyone here.

Sales staff is friendly but they wander about monitoring you. Don't worry ladies, I'm not about to steal anything here. We're just here to pass time before we figure out what to do next...

Birthday party madness part II.

It never stops at just one with us. There's always an after party and that's how we ended up here.

The Continental Room has a seriously chill vibe. Good luck finding this place. We wandered down a dark alley way and found a mysterious man standing out front and lo and behold, we were here. Huzzah!

Inside you'll be surrounded by lush reds and plush velvet booths and a really bad karaoke singer. Order a few drinks and you'll hardly notice he's there. I would not recommend the raspberry though. That crap tasted like bitter cough medicine. The well drinks and apple martinis were ok but seriously it's all about the atmosphere here and some place to hang after epic birthday party madness.

Tony's Little Italy Pizza

Review 600 is dedicated to my awesome friend Holly Wong - the birthday girl for whom this was all made possible.

So let me set the scene:
Wednesday - the day of Holly's birthday. She decides mid-day that hey, I should probably celebrate and sends out a mass Facebook message. I don't like chaos. Pick a place I'll be there. The call comes at 8:30PM.

"Are you coming to my birthday party?"
Duh...
"Where it is?"
"We're thinking about pizza..."

Ok, you can't just have any pizza.  You're my friend, a picky eater, and you're Holly. The great awesome one. It can't just be anything ordinary. It has to be as fabulous as you are and thank goodness for Yelp we found something that matched her awesomeness, called ahead, and we were in a car headed to Placentia. Hooray!

It's a trek but Tony's is a lot closer than Chicago and you'll actually get to experience the real deal here. Pies take 40 minutes to bake in the oven and you'll really be in for a treat. We ordered the works and a pepperoni with a salad and garlic bread. The sauce is homemade and once it settles into the layers of dough, sausage, green peppers, and onions you're really in for a mouth watering treat. Paired up with a slice of buttery garlicky bread - OMG! We had died and gone to foodie heaven. The pepperoni was no different. Layer upon layer of pepperoni, sauce, and cheese. I could only get through 2 slices of each, about 2 slices of garlic bread, and 4-5 cups of water before the clothes were bursting at their seams. You could tell everyone was the same and clutching their stomachs but satisfied nonetheless.

Between the 6 of us, there were still plenty of leftover and we boxed them all up to go. The next day, fresh from my toaster oven, I was once again in pizza heaven. I really wish this place was closer but at least I've got a piece of Chicago in OC.

Forgive me. This review is a *bit* delayed.  I tend to loathe the summer months preferring winter for comfort, sweaters, scarves, and a loved one if I'm lucky but they can be tolerated with good food, good wine, and good friends hence the Generous Pour Summer Wine Event.

I was here for opening night to help kick things off, sample the food offerings, meet the sommelier, and mingle with OC/LA's finest foodies in a lavish event prepared for us by the Capital Grille. How could I not be impressed? I love what I do and inviting others to be a part of it is even more special.

We spent an evening on their special patio and it was great to see everyone dressed up for the occasion.

That evening I sampled:

The Whites:
Marquis de la Tou, Cremant de Loire
Brut, Sparkling Wine
La Cana Albarino, 2010
Chateau St. Jean Belle Terre
Chardonnay, 2008

The Reds:
Freemark Abbey, Cabernet Bosche, 2003
Chalk Hill Estate
Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006
Byron Pinot Noir, 2009

International Reds:
Conte Brandolini, Vistorta Merlot, 2006
Tarima Hill Monastrell, Alicante, 2009

Dessert Wine:
RL Buller, The Portly Gentleman, Port

Yup, I sure can hold my liquor along with all the fine food I had. It was absolutely awesome and phenomenal. We were given sliders, pork chops, and ended the night with amazing decadent truffles. I can't wait to be back again. I love what I do.

Pink Taco

I'm fortunate enough in life to have good friends and fun things to do. At this particular time, I was at the Sony VIP red carpet party and after trying out all their techie equipment, having several drinks, and posing with the celebrities that attended we were all hungry.

I really wanted dessert though but I was more hungry than anything else so we walked around the mall to see what was open and we found Pink Taco.  Sadly the stars didn't join us. I'm sure they had better plans than to hang out with us but oh well.

So Pink Taco isn't exactly authentic Mexican. It's just glorified. It's still fun though. It's like punk rock Mexican with cool decor and an interesting door. It stands alone at the top of the stairs/escalator. You really can't miss it and the glowing pink sign.

There's an extensive menu. We got a couple of orders of nachos to share and water ASAP. Needed to sober up pronto. I got the chicken flautas which came with perfectly moist seasoned chicken, a creamy salsa dressing, tomatoes, and a side salad. I was pleased but wow, watch it. They are topped with jalapenos and I was begging for water. Take that from an Indian that can handle her spice. Ouch!

Either way, it was a fun night. Food was good. Service was good. You'll have a good time here just don't expect authentic and you'll be ok.

I'm so sad this place is closed!!! I'm trying to get through all my Yelp review bookmarks and I just noticed this.

The location doesn't leave much to be desired. I don't know why the owners picked an industrial ghetto by the L.A. river. I was afraid for my life looking for parking and walking up here for a CYME especially since my +1 flaked and I was driving up alone. And the event was at night so imagine all the thoughts running through my head. I think I practically ran to the entrance from my parking spot and then asked to be walked back.

But once inside you'll forget all about your location and where you just came from. This place is lined with enomatic wine machines and the food is made from scratch. I had an unforgettable pesto tortellini dish and I watched as the chef prepared it fresh from the open kitchen. My meal was comped because they thought I had left. I had switched tables and decided to watch the Oscars with the lovely LA CM Katie B. At the end of the night, they brought some fresh chocolate chip cookies that were amazing.

It's sad that I'll never get to go back here again but oh well. I hope they find another concept and a better location. That was some scary sh*t...

While in town for a girls trip, we would pick a fancy restaurant, play dress up, get ready and head out. Yes, we're girly like that :)

We found Palazzio while browsing through a magazine at the rental property we were at. It's not exactly fancy and fine dining since Santa Barbara is a laid back coastal town but we still made the best of it.

The interior is awesome. Bright paints, cool architecture, free flowing wine, and they kept bringing out samples of various appetizers before and during your meal. I had their veggie lasagna and was impressed that every layer was piled high with an assortment of veggies and melted cheese all drenched in a delicious rustic roasted garlic marinara sauce. I felt like a pig feasting on appetizers, my side salad, and my main course. The evening ended with a delicious palate cleansing lemon sorbet ice cream.

I love Italian food and this was just Heaven. We were walking around in a daze from our meals and luckily Santa Barbara was still humming with some activity so that we could stroll for a bit and burn off our decadent meal.

Joe's Cafe

Last year I got together with my cousins and planned a girls' trip to Santa Barbara. We rented a house and then we all drove out to Santa Barbara from our separate parts of CA to stay for an extended Easter weekend.

Our place was near downtown and I was able to convince them to walk here for food and then take a stroll downtown. For our first lunch together, the majority wanted burgers so we settled down here. I was still in my pseudo veggie phase so I got their veggie burger. The boca burger patty wasn't bad but it left much to be desired considering everyone else was having a real burger with a beef patty. I was slightly jealous.

Customer service leaves much to be desired. Their water glasses are ridiculously tiny and we were parched from having walked here and having eaten our meal. It took forever to get refills and  the lady wouldn't leave a pitcher at our table.

The meal itself was OK. The fries were super salty. I like salt on fries but these were seriously salty. I was flaking off salt pieces. My throat was dry by the end and I had to track down a convenience store for a bottle of water.

By the end of the meal we wanted separate checks but our waitress was confused and couldn't figure out what we wanted so she just split the bill 6 ways. Really? Considering we all ordered the same thing the bill was pretty much even with tax, tip etc so I guess it wasn't bad.

Marathons sure do make a girl hungry and during my tour of SF, I really wanted to stop somewhere for Thai food. While touring the nearby cities and walking around for hours, we stopped here for dinner.

The sign outside is intriguing. They will add gluten or lard on request. Pulled out the trusty Yelp app and solid 4-5 stars, we were in business. I love having that thing handy. It's such a life savor. :)

When it comes to Thai food, I stick to the usual - Pad Thai, coconut chicken curry, and an order of fried rice. That Summer night it was also a bit chilly so I ordered the jasmine tea. I love that these restaurants brew the tea in a pot and then bring the pot to you. It was so delicious. I had several pot fulls followed by several pee breaks. :P

And I'm glad I could request no lard or gluten with my food. We got seats by the window and got to view life on the street. The city of Fairfax is actually quite charming. This particular restaurant is located near an awesome ice cream shop and a bookstore/coffee shop. Parking is in the center and quite convenient. I drank my tea and sat and observed for a few minutes before they took my order.

I was delighted that all my usuals lived up to their namesake but I agree with my friend. Next time I'll branch out a bit and try something different at a Thai restaurant. Hey, sometimes a girl just has her favorites.

This place is crazy! Came to town for the San Jose Marathon and I was starving after waiting in line for my race packet, instructions etc for the day before. Usually, marathon tradition is a big pasta dinner but a friend told me about this place plus it was in the downtown area.

I was a little surprised at first because I was expecting a restaurant but we actually pulled up to a really tiny house amidst the cluster of buildings downtown. This Mexican restaurant is two stories and there is seating all over. Parking is tight but luckily we had already parked downtown so we just walked here.

If you're going to dine here, I would suggest putting one person in charge of finding a table while the others go up and place the order or else you'll be left with no place to sit unless you're taking it to go. I got the enchiladas and sampled all their amazing sauces. Chips are fried fresh and were amazing! I was in love. It's open late so it's a definite San Jose hot spot. We had a lot of fun hanging out here and checking out the local scene.
