BEWARE of this apartment complex! We stopped to meet a resident to purchase a receiver we had seen listed online, and within 15 minutes we came out to see our car booted. We kept our eyes out to avoid the apartment's parking policies when we pulled up- we saw NO no-parking signs upon entering the complex and only after searching around on foot could we find one small sign half-hidden by landscaping that wasn't illuminated at all.
There was no warning, no clear signage and no recourse for us- we had stopped there no longer than 15 minutes and were forced to pay $100 cash or they'd tow the car within 2 hours.
After researching we found that the sign is within the letter of the law for warning people about no-parking policies, but in practice this scam has been catching people unaware for years in Reno. We talked to 4 different residents who said that the booting is a constant problem as they, their families and friends are constantly preyed upon by the company Universal Parking Management, and the owner of Evergreen is well aware.
I called and asked if he was aware that so many of his residents are being booted and he told me that it wasn't his problem. I specifically asked if he would consider better signage and he told me no.
Avoid this complex like the plague, or you and the people who visit you will be out some cash.
Se7en's a great place to meet, hang out or get a tea/beer. In the daytime, the atmosphere is chill and they've got plenty of space to pop out your laptop and get work done. The staff is cool and they've always got good music playing.
As for their menu, they've been serving soups and sandwiches from Sup lately- they're mad tasty. Plus they've got some good beer and a ton of awesome teas. I think they're the only place in town to get Mate (the tea-type drink in the gourd).
At night they may have a dj, a movie or an event going on- and no matter what it's a great environment to meet people. Especially if you're downtown and are looking for an alternative to loud, overcrowded bars.
