Excellent cocktail menu and cute environment. In the summer, I've seen it packed and people spilling out onto the streets. The staff was attentive and we had a large and comfortable table for our group.

My drink was an interesting and less-sweet take on a mojito, using cranberries for flavour but not overpowering with the normal fistfuls of sugar that are added to mojitos.

If you'd like a classy place to meet friends for creative cocktails, this is a good spot.

Gluten-free notes: Cocktails are mostly gluten-free. :-)

This is a solid place if you, like me, love meat. It's tasty and not pretentious or too fancy. And for the price you can get a very large amount of food if you like.

Come hungry - as with any churrascaria they walk by your table with skewer after skewer of grilled deliciousness. And make sure you get the cuts closer to the inside if you're not a fan of well-done.

Their salads were also tasty, and they had a plate of desserts that they can bring out to you to choose from.

Gluten-free notes: No, they don't have naturally wheat-free pao de queijo. But you can still eat all of the meat and most of the salads. Watch out for the skewer of grilled bread!

So yes, I did have some of the best lamb I've ever had at a "fish" restaurant. It was so soft, so perfectly cooked, with girolles and Jerusalem artichoke. What is not to like?

We started with a massive platter of shellfish, all of which was very high quality.

They also have a good wine list.

The people watching is also pretty funny.

London has so many very good Indian restaurants and this is one of them.

The atmosphere here is very refined and on the fancier side with white tablecloths and the whole lot. But given the tablecloths and the neighbourhood the prices were reasonable.

We weren't incredibly hungry that night so got one fish dish with multiple vegetables.

Standouts that night were the cinnamon potatoes, dal and eggplant. My dining companion had been there before and the previous time was even better.

I'd go back for sure.

This is a very cute spot. When you get your cupcake, you can eat it there or get it (adorably) in a Chinese take-away box.

When I first moved to London, the estate agent was going on and on about the best things to do in the neighbourhood, and mentioned Hummingbird's red velvet cupcakes as one of the best local attractions. I was finally able to taste their cupcakes - they have jumped on the gluten-free bandwagon.

While their cupcakes are certainly very sweet, I appreciate that their frosting has a bit of tangy flavour to it so it's not sickeningly sweet. The cake itself was moist with the right balance of fluffy and substantial.

Gluten-free notes: It now seems that they carry gluten-free cupcakes! When I went, you can choose from their signature red velvet cupcake or the vanilla cupcake.

This is a solid local place, and seems to be a local favorite as it's often full.

The food is very good, enjoyable, nice atmosphere...  I think it's one of the better Indian places in the neighborhood. It's not spicy enough. Maybe we should have been more forthcoming? Would I travel across the city for it? No. But I'm glad to live nearby and happy to go back again. It's the classic 3.5 star rating. ;-)

Along with the pappadams they offer fantastic ground coconut, which you do not often see. I also enjoyed the lamb with coconut sauce and fried potato sticks -- though unfortunately I've forgotten the name.

Gluten-free notes: Most Indian food is naturally gluten-free. No naan for you, of course.

The food here is excellent. As a huge fan of a good steak, but also a fan of tofu, I feel highly qualified to review this restaurant.

While you wait by the bar, they have a selection of interesting juices to choose from. And I learned a new fact - you can't drink straight beet juice because it won't agree with your insides. Who knew? Glad they had the facts.

I really enjoyed my sweet potato and cashew curry. Yum, yum. Very filling and comfort-food-esque. I also enjoyed their big chocolately dessert.

Gluten-free notes: This place goes out of their way to help non-vegetarian people with food restrictions. They identify wheat-free and gluten-free items on the menu, and there's plenty for you to choose from.

This place is known for fabulous plates of pasta. They have a terrace in the front, but it's all closed in and warm enough for the winter. It's cozy and romantic, and also great for hilarious Chelsea people-watching.

You'll enjoy their down-home appetizers, plates, of pasta, and little fuss.

Gluten-free notes: Yes, this place lists gluten-free menu items on their menu and web site. When I was there, they had multiple (yes, multiple) different types of gluten-free and wheat-free pasta. You will eat well.

Brownie Box

This place opened up a few months ago, and I'm glad to welcome another cafe (with tasty desserts) to the neighborhood. And they've got a nice-looking selection of baked goods for you to drool on as you walk by. I have walked by drooling an uncountable number of times.

The place is run by a family -- super friendly sisters and their mom. They've run a similar business before and are happy to bring their goodies to a new place.

I really enjoyed the almond cake with cream topping. One thing that too many cupcake and dessert places get wrong is sweetness. They love to dump sugar into something until you get a headache and can't taste anything at all. But Brownie Box gets it -- they don't oversweeten so you can taste all of the delicious flavors. I look forward to trying more stuff there!

Gluten-free notes: Much of the time, they have at least one gluten-free thing. There are usually signs -- feel free to ask.

This place gets ten stars for friendly. It's my local spot for being hungry, craving comfort food and/or vegetables, and not wanting to cook.

The cooking is good and homey -- not too much of a scene. My comfort food favorites are the coconut soup and pad see ew.

Gluten-free notes: They get the whole "no soy sauce" thing and are happy to oblige. I've had all sorts of dishes here and have been happy. Be sure to ask what is/isn't deep fried.
