Part of me doesn't even know if I really want to write this review. I just don't feel inspired/motivated, and I think that says more about this place than anything I'll write in a review.

My husband and I spent a night in Philly over Thanksgiving break. We went in on a weekday night, not busy at all, and the store looks beautiful. We just wanted a couple of warm drinks and dessert to complete a great night. The menu is great, but I felt like it was missing something. I don't know what it was, but I found myself having difficulty making a decision and it's not because I had too many awesome things to choose from. One of my problems is that the pictures weren't labeled with what dish it was, and the descriptions didn't always match the pictures.

I'm not sure the food justifies the price, and I'm sure this is a great place to go if you're not from around here or if it's a special occasion, but if I lived here I don't think I would go very often.

That was my face while I was waiting for my male friend to show up. It was a cold, slightly rainy Monday after work and we wanted to try a new place with lots of different beer for happy hour. Yes, the girls wear tiny shirts and shorts, but that's not why we came here. If I want bodies, I'll go to the strip club (and that's another review).

I wasn't lookin' especially awesome that day, but I think the fact that I had boobs and was only one person really slowed down the whole process. About 3 waitresses walked right by me, not one of them stopping to ask how I was doing or if I'd been helped. I sat there for about 5 minutes, smiling at them as they walked by, HOPING someone would offer me a beer or a menu. I know I am a woman, but I also like the ladies, so ignoring me based on "flirt with people that are attracted to me to get tips" was the wrong thing to do. It didn't get a lot better after that.

My friend with a penis showed up, and the service got a little better. I ordered the deviled eggs and zucchini curls. Their beer selection is alright, but not as good as I thought it was going to be. The deviled eggs were quite good, with crispy bacon on top, but the zucchini curls missed the mark. They were tasty, but were a little oily and not crispy enough.

Overall, it wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd go back by myself.

This Veterinary Office is aptly named. They really are the Best Vet Office I've ever taken my cats to. The staff is incredibly sweet and patient. I rarely have to wait long when I arrive at my scheduled appointments. Their prices are fair, and you can tell they all really love animals.

Dr. Bob is just awesome. He has never tried to sell me on something that wasn't necessary. When I took my male cat when he wasn't eating and had a fever, he gave me a few options. One of the options was surgery (in case there was a blockage) and it would have been pretty expensive. Dr. Bob actually recommended the less expensive option, saying "that's what I'd do." I'm telling you, they have some cat whisperers.

My honey is taking our new puppy there today, and I have every confidence that Dr. Bob and his staff will treat him with the utmost care and not take any shortcuts. I'm an overprotective, worrying cat/dog mama and this place really put me at ease.

We flew into Philly on our way to Central PA for Thanksgiving. This was my first time in Philly and we stayed in a hotel just a few blocks away. It was cold and rainy that night, but we liked the menu and reviews, so we put on our coats and walked over.

The place is tiny, with tiny tables really close together. We decided to sit at the bar. There were only a few other couples, but the bartender looked friendly and we preferred a little more wiggle room. We had the olives and the meat and cheese tasting plate. Everything was delicious. They shave the meat to order, so nothing is dried out or extra chewy. Our pizza was super delicious, and we had not problem finishing it. We enjoyed our Fall Fashions and have decided it's something we definitely need to recreate. The in-house made, spiced simple syrup really made all the difference.

The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and informative. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Philly!

Jackie's Kitchen

On a recent trip to Houston, we happened upon Jackie's Kitchen while looking for some brunch/lunch after we checked out of our usual Sheraton Brookhollow. I remember when this place was a House of Pancakes, and they didn't deviate much.

They do have chicken wings and a waffle. The chicken was pretty good, but unless I'm sitting down for more than 6 wings, I'd really rather have a drumstick or a moist breast (make what jokes you will). The waffle was, like others have mentioned, not crispy whatsoever and not much in the flavor department. More than that, I had to load on the butter and syrup to get any flavor out of it.

M liked his omelet and pancakes. Their OJ comes in a big glass, and isn't too expensive. Their menu isn't very off from a Denny's or IHOP. I can see us coming back here and trying something new, but only if we stay at the same hotel.

Normally I feel kinda dirty when I go to Jiffy Lube. I don't know why. This Jiffy Lube is different.

The guys here are as friendly as can be. After work on a weekday got me in and out in less than 20 minutes. It probably would have been less than 15 if I hadn't talked to the guys about how O'Reilly's is far superior than AutoZone.

They did the usual "Hey you should probably replace your your air filter and cabin air filter. Here's how dirty they are." There was absolutely no pressure! I honestly did need to replace them, but I can do that myself (Hello, O'Reilly's!)

I can definitely see myself coming back here for another oil change. Maybe even my 90k!

I live in Cedar Park and thought, "I've heard the Austin Office is really slow unless you show up at opening. I should just go to the Georgetown office." Harumph. I went to the Austin office at opening last time and they were fast and efficient with lots of windows open. I got to the Georgetown Office at 11:15am, and so far only two windows are open and only three people have been seen in 20 minutes. Yikes. I can feel my hair graying as they close one of the two open windows.

I've experienced better is the truth! I love Casey's, but I live in Cedar Park. I noticed this place on a trip to the HEB (the parking lot it's in) and thought, "Hey I should really give these guys a try!"

Yesterday we stopped by to help out with the sweltering heat. I got a Tiger's Blood (strawberry and coconut) with coconut cream.

1) It was red and it tasted red. Not like strawberry.
2) I tasted virtually no coconut.
3) the "cream" is sweetened condensed milk, and just a few ribbons of it on top.

I don't know what happened to all the flavor, but the texture of the "snow" was good. I'll probably give them another try this summer since their prices or so great. If it happens again, I'll just wait until I'm in town and go to Casey's.

Yelp's Day At The Fair at Frank

It was a hot night last night! I'm pretty sure Yelp new someone was going to take off all their clothes, because there were condoms on the tables. Maybe after a few salty dogs or Magic Hat #9s, you TOO can get lucky at the fair!

I had just a great time, and I can't remember the last time I walked away with so much swag. Fun glasses, a digital watch, a bracelet made out of balloons ... I even kept the umbrella in my sno cone!

How great was it to see so many people! From the reviews, it looked like I missed several of my favorite peeps. Luckily after some searching I found Monica, Missy, Dej and Lisa. I got to share a beer spilled table (sorry guys!) with my honey, Tara and her honey, Catherine, Quani, Darla, and even Lee (whom I met for the first time). I stood in line with Ryan and smoked with David, Errol and Daniel.

I wonder what the customers upstairs thought was going on ...

Yelp Goes Gaga for GaGa

My first Elite party of the year, and it couldn't have gone better.

After getting off work at 6pm, I threw on some makeup and headed on over to OCH, cookies in hand. You have to offer cookies to the Yelp Gods; it's the only sure way you'll have a good time that night. A boy did I! Kelly threw another fabulous party and I'm glad she let me in at the last minute.

Sushi served by super cute boys? Pizza served by a handsome Spartan? Vodka poured by happy, flirty, heavy handed bartenders? Costumes galore and female bare skin than OCH has seen before? Yeah, all the makings for a party I won't soon forget, and am having a bit of trouble remembering. How many cherry limeades did I have?

This morning, with a rumbling in my tummy and a headache to match, I headed into work. While cruising along in traffic, I recounted all the good times with new friends. Seeing a co-worker from 2006 making his elite debut (Hi, Joe D!). Applying bright red lipstick to my new favorite Moonpie. Chatting up my new favorite California Transplant, Julie S. I always look forward to seeing Keri, Errol, Darla, Yoli, Moni, and Dej. These girls always are the life of the party!

Thank you Kelly for being the best CM and an all around awesome person! I promise to stop flaking on the parties, or at least to bring you more cookies to make up for it when I do. ;)
