We were just pretty disappointed in how everything went down. I spent most of my night reheating and assembling food.

Is there any reason why they couldn't put together the crostini? (They seriously gave me a container of plain crostini, cheese, and jam on the side!) Or the maki (seriously they just dropped off uncut rolls of rice with fish ON THE SIDE)? Or cut the buns for the ham sandwiches and burgers?

We received about 4 tablespoons of scallions and bacon for the"mac and cheese bar".

There were 20 raw burger patties, not even the 24 that I ordered.

The rice for the maki was really mushy.

The worst part of the evening was when I took the mac & cheese out of the oven, it fell all over me because the pan could not hold the weight, and it collapsed.

Someone called me the day before my party to give me instructions on how to fry the latke I ordered. They were just going to drop off the mix.. are you serious?! What kind of caterer is that. I insisted they cook them and I just reheat them. They sounded really confused that I would suggest such a thing. When the latkes arrived half of them were burnt. They also wanted me to fry up the grilled cheese I ordered. I refused. They arrived a greasy mess.

They basically just dropped off a ton of ingredients for me to put together. I didn't enjoy my party at all. People were joking that Peapod had catered the party.

It was a total disaster.

I also heard that the owner walked into work one day and fired everyone without notice and said he could do everything himself. Well guess what dude, you couldn't manage to get a single thing right. He emailed me after he saw my feature in Chicago Magazine, 'to make things right'. He neither offered to monetarily compensate for anything. He simply wanted to do another party together. There is absolutely no way I would waste my money on this company again.

After I posted this I received one email and a threatening yelp message from the owner saying how this is a small city and he's sure our paths will cross again.  wtf.

** In response to owner Cleetus' comments down below**

To be clear I was completely dissatisfied with the food (remember the mushy, unfinished maki? the greasy burnt latkes, 20 burger patties instead of the 24 I ordered?)

I didn't respond to the emails and phone calls, because I had a terrible experience and just wanted it to be over. I didn't want anything more. I even paid City Provisions in full (even though the quantity brought did not add up) when I definitely shouldn't have. I only did it so I wouldn't have to deal with the company again.

After having a 10lb pan of macaroni and cheese collapse (because you were negligent in providing a pan that would hold the weight) all over me and my friend, the open oven, and the kitchen- I'm definitely not going to go out of my way to return your 20 shot glasses for your convenience. Feel free to pick them up.

And Cleetus, your genuine character shines through when you called me a "Chef" in your comment, applying quotes to belittle my talent. Show owner comment »

I love taking friends to Avec because there's always something for everyone. Everything is served tapas style, so you don't really have to commit to one dish, and the beer and wine selection is unbeatable.

It's a really small place and they don't take reservations, so you always have to wait, but the bartenders are speedy and keep you distracted for the most part.

You'll also probably be seated 2-3 inches from a stranger, but that's one of Avec's charms.

Chefs Koren Grieveson and Justin Large recently competed in an Iron Chef challenge and tied with Cat Cora.

I recommend  trying the whole roasted fish, the prosciutto wrapped dates and one of the portuguese sparkling wines.

The oysters are seriously fantastic. They're the freshest oysters I've ever had in Chicago.

For the main course I got the sweetbreads. It was nice, but lacking some flavor. Would have been great with a little bit of salt. My husband got the ham chop, which was very fresh, but pretty ordinary.

They have an awesome beer selection, but my husband and I opted for a bottle of sparkling wine. We got the NV Jean-Paul Bruin, "F.R.V.". It was beautiful.

I'd like to go back and try the fish.

Sarabeth's never disappoints. I've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I highly recommend the grilled dolphin for lunch. The drinks are also really great. Try the 'Four Flowers' juice for breakfast. Yum.

They have fried chicken dinners on Sundays. It's served with perfect mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Be sure to get there early as the chicken orders run out pretty quickly.

B O's Fish Wagon

I was very skeptical at first because I had the famous Hogfish sandwich at the Hogfish Bar and Grill and I was sick for days. B.O.'s fish sandwich is completely different. The fish is so fresh and even if you get it fried, it manages to still be very light. I had the Mahi and my husband had the grouper. They were both excellent. The key lime mayo is also fantastic.

I'll definitely be coming back.

This is my favorite place to buy fresh seafood. Almost all of the fish they have is purchased from local fisherman and they have a pretty large variety.

Everyone there is incredibly helpful and appreciative of your business. It really has a great neighborhood feel.

It's very difficult to find organic products in Key West, but you'll find the majority of what you need here. I go here to buy my produce, oils, vinegars, and dairy.

The fish is a little overpriced. I like to go to the Eaton Street Seafood Market for fresh fish. The meat at Waterfront looks absolutely terrible. I'd never buy beef or pork there. I'm not even sure if the stuff in the deli cases are fresh. Its doesn't look the best.

Some of the cashiers in this place are extremely slow and rude.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch. Their special is to choose 3 things off of a list for $12.

Being in Key West, I chose the shrimp cocktail, the Vietnamese chicken salad and the fresh mozzarella.

The shrimp was not fresh. It smelled funny, tasted funny and we didn't eat it. The Vietnamese chicken salad was kind of slimy and flavorless. The only spice I saw on it were the sliced jalapenos. The mozzarella was good.

I told our server about the shrimp and they offered us something else, and actually took off and entire lunch order off of our bill, which was really nice.

I love the atmosphere and the people there though. Maybe we just went on an off day?

I live in Key West and this is my favorite breakfast spot on the island.

They have a large variety of croissants, beignets and tarts. Their bistro is also adjacent which serves crepes, galletes and the best soups ever.

The only negative thing about the place- the girls that work at the bakery. Huge attitude.

I went here with a group for my husband's birthday. The place is beautiful, but the food is pretty average. We chose their $35 tasting menu, which was okay. They brought everything out family style.

It's a great place to go for cocktails and appetizers, because of the atmosphere. I'm not sure that I would go back though.
