So if you like BBQ go ahead and keep driving!! First of all I had a two meat platter and my wife had a BBQ pork salad. Lets start there. The salad was your run of the mill salad with a very good portion of shredded pork on top. The pork had a decent flavor and was actually pretty moist. She also had a side of fried Okra, being from the south my wife is a major connoisseur and this okra was not good to her. It did not have a standard cornmeal breading it was flour which is a major southern no no!

As for my food well....let me count the ways. I ordered the mac and cheese and it was very "powdery" tasting and not very good. It was ok and I ate half the bowl but it was not "southern BBQ' mac and cheese. I also had coleslaw which tasted like they bought it form Costco across the street and put it in a little container to serve. The ribs are what really pissed me off....I mean if your a BBQ place and claim to be "real southern BBQ" and it takes a knife to cut your rib bones apart you're not BBQ!! Also....there was absolutely NO COLOR to the meat at all.....it was grey with absolutely NO SMOKE ring at all!!! To me this indicates baked ribs that are then coated in sauce and tossed on a gas grill to make char marks by burning the sauce! I also had the chopped chicken with my ribs! Again.....NOT BBQ!!! Was dry as a bone, and cut into chunks...again if the meat was smoked and BBQ it would fall apart as you put a knife through it, it would not cut into chunks! There was no flavor and it seemed like it was cooked on a gas grill and tossed with BBQ sauce oh...and majorly overcooked!!!

The sauces they offered were decent but were not Daves (to compare to a major chain) I will stick with Daves when I want BBQ fast and easy and when I want real BBQ I will head down to Richmond and get me some Buzz and Neds!

We had to try it out since it was new but will not be going back!! I mean pretty much anyone who has a charcoal BBQ and knows how to light it can make more flavorful BBQ than this place is pumping out!!

Barefoot's Seafood and Oyster Bar

OK, so this is the first time I have been under the new ownership. I have been a few times prior to dropping the "Greens" from the name. This will also be my last trip ever! To start off the dining room was full of flies. The salad bar was disgusting, we watched as a "prep cook" was in a corner of the dining room cutting Broccoli with an unsharpened steak knife for the salad bar. She was not wearing gloves, did not have her long hair up and to top it off she proceeded to take out trash from behind the bar, replace the bag and go right back to chopping broccoli without so much as running her bare hands under water! The then brought the broccoli over to the bar, used her bare hands to place some from her pan into the salad bar and move it around taking a bite of some and putting more in after placing her hands in her mouth.

I ordered "charbroiled" oysters....these were disgusting, they were steamed, shucked then thrown under a salamander with some bread crumbs and a tiny bit of cheese! The crab dip appetizer was so so...but had to order more bread to dip and waited 20 mins for that bread then got charged a buck for it! I had crab cakes for dinner...they were not horrible but not good by any means. My sons chicken fingers were spicy as in Popeye's chicken spicy!! And the service took forever, granted the waitress claimed it was only her second day however it was just plain way to long a wait for everything. Also....way way way over priced for the crap we got!

Crab dip, grilled oysters, grilled salmon, crab cakes, fried shrimp, and chicken fingers with all waters came out to 91 bucks!! That was after they took the chicken fingers off the bill cause they were too spicy for my son to eat!!! None and I mean none of the food was any good....best thing about the meal was the tarter sauce!  Will never be going again.

All My Sons Moving & Storage

All my sons movers is great until you actually have them do work for you! They will not pay out an insurance claim unless they damage 420lbs of your goods with meets there .60 per lb $250 deductible. They were directly responsible for me paying just shy of $600 to diagnose and replace a washing machine that they destroyed moving me. They also scratched and punched the leather on my office chair as well as damaged a whiteboard as well as a few other small items. All my sons movers are horrible...do not use them. I dealt directly with the Richmond VA office.

I also had issues with the professionalism of the moving crew packing was taking forever and was very unprofessional. Stuff was all over the house when they finished the move.

Don't get suckered in by there guarantee of a great move!

From the min you walk into Guero's you know the place has a cool vibe, from the live music, to the rustic western decor Guero's is austin's happen-in place for great mexican food!

The first time I visited was with my fiance while on a biz trip to Austin. We ducked in for a late afternoon snack. We ordered up two tacos each and a couple beers. We sat in the main bar area that you first walk into when entering Guero's, there we were greeted by our hostess who promptly sat us and took our drink order. There was a local band that consisted of three men playing a myriad of instruments for our entertainment....the music the was great! The whole vibe in the bar area was relaxed and cool...the food came and even though all we had were some chicken tacos the fresh salsa bar made it so that you can customize the flavor of each taco differently. We ate our tacos...took a few photos listened to some music and made a promise that we would be back.....

Here I am back in Austin again for work and my first stop for dinner was Guero's once again. I love all the cool shops and great looking places to eat along south congress so just getting to Guero's is half the fun! After finding a place to park (can be an issue) I walked in and was sat inside the main restaurant this time at the taco bar. In front of me was a lady hand rolling and flattening as well as griddling fresh tortillas for customers. I ordered up the shrimp fajita dinner and enjoyed watching her methodic motions over and over again making such amazing tasting fresh tortilla. I spun my stool around and did a bit of people watching and I have to say local austin-ites have it lucky...Guero's is just a cool place!! Everyone was having a great time, the waiters are all very friendly as well as the bus staff always asking if they can get you something or if you need anything. Once my food arrived I was in for a treat! The shrimp were cooked just right and the fresh tomatillos that were grilled had such a great flavor. Along with the normal, pico de gallo, guacamole, cheese with rice and beans you cant ask for more!

While eating I struck up a conversation with the couple that sat next to me at the taco bar and we talked tattoos for a while and a little bit about austin..they too were from out of town. It seems like the place brings out the friendly in everyone!!

So if you ever find yourself in the Austin area for any reason...you gotta head on down to Guero's and experience this place for yourself. You will love the food...you will love the staff....you will love it!!

I have been eating at old town grill for a few years now and im surprised there has not  been a review yet! Located in historic Fredericksburg old town grill offers a bit of a west coast freshness and flavor from and east coast diner! They have a small breakfast menu with the staples that have been kicked up a bit! Where Old town shines is in its lunch menu...

Offering some traditional fare like a turkey club that has amazing smoked pepper bacon and an awesome herb mayo to take the flavors to a new level! They have fresh salads that you can get with blacked chicken on top as well as some of the best sweet potato fries on the planet! If you get a sandwich I recommend the sweet potato fries over the normal fries! Also grab a side of Aoli to dip them in, the spicy mayo is the best and adds great flavor!

If you like a causal cafe experience but love good flavors and yummy food give them a try! They also have a special or two every day so be sure to ask about them! Look for the black awning off carolyn street to your left and enjoy!

Zaytinya

Went to the first of my many visits to Zaytinya couple weeks back! Very contemporary decor but very elegant. The menu is HUGE so if its your first visit order a quick appetizer and take time to look over your many options as well as talk to your waiter/waitress they will offer you some assistance in making the right selections.

I do not recall all the plates I ordered however the ones that stood out to me were the Short ribs with their sweet brown sauce and fork tender meat was to die for! The Falafel was perfect! Crispy and full of flavor with the bed of chutney and dipping sauce! The lamb shoulder with potato was also amazing very simple roasted lamb cut thin laying on a bed of thinly sliced and sautéed potatoes with fresh herbs very very tasty! The spicy lamb loin was also very very tasty a loin of lamb with caramelized onions and fresh herbs! YUM!!

The food is amazing and the flavors so bold and in your face! I loved my dining experience here. One item of in my opinion was PERFECTION the very hot light pillows of pita bread that are served when you sit down are so light and tasty I could have had three or four baskets easily! They come with and oil and vinegar dipping sauce of which I will say some of the best balsamic vinegar I have ever had sooo sweet! YUMMY! They offer about 8 or 9 dipping choices for the Pita as well, Hummus, a yogurt sauce, and a roasted red pepper feta cheese dip were my fav by far!

If your looking for a nice place to either have a quick bite before an evening out or your looking for a full dinner with friends you cant go wrong here!!

With an open kitchen you can also take a peek at the very talented cook staff working feverishly to bring you such yummy treats to dine upon!

Give it a try you will not be disappointed!

Bangkok Cafe

I went to an early dinner on wed evening to try out this close to home local restaurant. After walking in and there only being one other person having some dinner I was greeted from ACROSS the dining area by one of the two ladies that were waiting tables and hosting. I put up the preverbal two fingers and was seated by the host dropping two menus on a table one the other side of the dinning room! No hello, no how are you, no welcome NOTHING!!

After sitting down and ordering a drink and a bowl of Tom Yum soup we looked over the menu. They had a decent selection and prices were reasonable. Our soup was delivered after being brought out of the kitchen and placed on the bar next to our waitress who was more concerned with her phone call via her cell, then after bringing our food  the waitress just walked away after we made gestures of getting ready to order our main meal. This was my first experience with Tom Yum soup and I enjoyed it, however I was informed by a reliable source, my GF who happens to be a chef in training that the soup was very lack luster! (I am excited to have some that is not lack luster since I didnt think it was bad)

After a few mins the waitress came back and took our order. A few mins later the food was brought to our table steamy hot and looked very yum! However she took our soup bowls from in front of us without even asking if we were finished! My GF was very clearly NOT done with hers!

We began to eat, Pad Thai for me, and Red Curry for her! Both dishes were pretty tasty and I enjoyed them both very much! Was good food, however after we sat there for a good 4 to 5 mins leaning back in our chairs with the plates pushed away from us I called out to our waitress 3 times with Excuse me! No response and they were in plain sight and ear shot! I then got out of my seat walked over and picked up my check off the bar and asked them for a to-go box. She came by the table and removed our plates. I told her I wished to take the leftovers. Again a good 5 mins passed till she brought it out from the back. All the while talking on her cell phone the entire time we dined! ;(

Food was good service was HORRENDOUS....I will go back based on the food but if I receive this kind of service again I will take my biz elsewhere. When I go out to eat I at least would like anything that resembles customer service!
