Update - 4/3/2012

the last time i did business with lodge the delivery person didn't have change on them, so they made a tip that was just about equal to the bill.

after a whole bunch of years we decided to eat here for brunch.
which was a really, really, dumb idea.
our eggs over easy were crusty and fried beyond belief, when sent back we were met with the eyerolls of the waiter and a two minute return. they were cold and looked like they'd been simply flipped over.
the hashbrowns were a room temperature pile of weird mush, the sausage and bacon were both completely flavorless, the bacon being kind of cardboardy.

this was a solid reminder to never come back here. and a head-scratching provocation as to why it's always packed.

their grocery spot next door isn't nearly as bad.

My experience was through delivery. I ordered a make your own salad, the boyfriend ordered a make your own sandwich. We thought it was a good deal.
BUT
the delivery person had absolutely no change. None. So she walked away with a big ol' tip and I closed the door with a big ol'dent in my wallet.

Am I wrong to assume delivery people should carry change? They always have in my past experiences with delivery... maybe the times have changed?

ice cream, my most favorite edible dairy option (aside from cheese) and hopefully found in milkshake form, but only two stars to ample hills. i'm totally bummed about this but the cinnamon milkshake that my friend and i shared tasted like drinking straight up butter mixed with a lil cream and a dash of cinnamon. also, all their flavors on the day we came by were ultra sweet. i'm all about subtle flavors. bummer city.

i love cinnamon girl. so. much.
yes, their grocery section is a little this and that (but thoroughly wonderful)
yeah, they're right next to tiny cup (but who cares? could do without the 'tude)
cause their coffee is way cheap and never burnt and la columbe
they toast an everything bagel to perfection
and they reggae that's being played is always just right.

It is so, so very dangerous for me to come in here. Thankfully this has only happened maybe once every six months for I dunno the past five years.

The owner is a hand-selecting-vinyl genius. He's got insane taste and a wonderful eye. Can I talk to you about The Smiths and The Pastels and not feel like a complete dork? Sure. Is it ok if I back that up with a Ja Rule single? No judgements. Do you know every band I mention even just by time period? For sure. If you love vinyl or you feel like something is missing from what you have, definitely come here.

pass on the coffee egg cream, but go for the vanilla if you have a sweet tooth.
stole many sips and spoonfuls of a perfect root beer float, their coffee isn't bad either.

prices could be lower, tons of kids here all the time
lots of overpriced but nicely selected grocery items

I read about Celestino months and months ago, and then was stoked to see it open up a few blocks away from me when I moved from west to east Bedstuy. Blood orange salad, crepe with fish ragu and panna cotta were all wonderful. Server, waiter and chef didn't rush us though we were the last customers of the night and they have a nice new shiny sign out front and tables outside on nice nights now.

If they start doing brunch my bank account is screwed/I really hope they start doing brunch.

consistently great dinners, breakfasts and brunches had here.
the staff is always sweet, there is rarely a long wait and in the summer their backyard is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a meal. everyone seems to mention their pizza, but that's never been a favorite of mine here--their menu as a whole is solid.

also, their bloody marys (brunch only) are definitely the best in brooklyn.
