Amazing burgers, especially with the grilled onions. Awesome onion rings too. The atmosphere is 100% authentic Central Texas.

Why get help from a big box employee when you can have the services of a man with 17 years experience at a cheaper price? The owner here did a relatively simple but time consuming repair on my laptop and was very friendly. He also has an eye out for improving Temple's downtown. Patronize this place and keep our local businesses thriving!

The common areas of the hotel and the pool are quite nice. The room we had was so-so. I am sure other rooms are nicer. Our room had 2 full beds - rather than the usual 2 queens or 1 king. The location is great though. The food in The Cafe was overpriced for breakfast, but that's kind of the norm for hotels. A person may as well walk over to IHOP instead. Front desk staff was friendly. The drain in our shower was messed up but not enough to call and complain about. Not considering the nice location of the San Luis, I've gotten more value from a Holiday Inn express in G-town.
We go here for our daughter mostly. I am sure I still have quite a few years' worth of going here before she's too cool for it.
The cob salad is just weird. It kind of looked like slaw to me. Not very good at all, but it is huge so you get quantity for the bucks you're paying. The bananas foster is more like a banana split from what I remember.
Reviews from everybody else just about covers it.

Mario's has a buffet on Thursday nights. My family gave it a try and I was blown away. The eggplant parm was awesome. It seemed like they purge the eggplant slices before cooking, which is a good thing. Some places do not do that. They had pork loin with mushroom sauce that was excellent. The pizza was awesome too. I loved it all.
This place is closed and is now called Buffet City.
Their buffet is smaller than Yank Sing and Dynasty but bigger than House of Lee. If you know a lot about sushi (which I do not) then you probably won't like their sushi cause I could tell it was pretty bland. Maybe I'm being a rube by even talking about sushi on a buffet?
The other stuff was decent. Their fried rice was more orangey-yellow than I ususally see. But didn't really taste different than normal. They had boiled shrimp and raw oysters but I don't care for either of those. Their pot sticker-type dumplings were not good. There was no crispyness on the bottom at all.
At the moment I can't really think of what stood out as good....Their kung pao chicken looked good but I was too full before I could get to it. For dessert they have 6 to 8 flavors of Blue Bell ice cream in a freezer you can scoop yourself.

The new facility is pretty nice inside. Plenty of room for all the taxidermy. There's also a small gift shop. The BBQ remains decent after the move. They do sirloin instead of brisket. I think that makes it a little leaner than most places (which I like). The homemade bread is really great and its nice that they have jalapenos at no extra charge. I think Rudy's and some others might charge for them. They sell kolaches and jerky there now but I've never tried them.
The owner is very friendly. He gave my daughter a free cookie and some milk. Their iced coffee was good and so was the chai. This is not a hip coffee house at all. Its just a good, basic, local business that should be supported.
A barista named Lauren who works here is very friendly.
