Nom.Nom.

Beautiful outdoor SUNNY seating. Great parking. And fabulous food. Seriously, what more could you want in SF?

I consider the Squid Ink Spaghettina a SF must-eat. The seafood tastes like it was pulled from the ocean when you ordered and the broth tastes like a Cajun spiced it!  Authentic spice - not crappy over-spice.

I also had these yummy cornmeal-breaded mushrooms - a perfect fry on them, not greasy - just tasty.

The ambiance is airy and fun.  I had the pleasure of a late lunch in the sun on the patio.  Found real easy 3 hour parking nearby. The service was helpful, lovely and quick. It felt upscale but also casual - well done. I will be back!

I'm going to give this a BREAKFAST review.

I'm a sort-of fan for their lunch, but a big-time fan of their breakfast sandwiches.  Yum. It is a great deal - wonderful, full of morning deliciousness.  Eggs, cheese, bacon on yummy crusty bread. There isn't the normal lunchtime line. Seriously, I watch the people walk out of the little local delis with an average looking breakfast sandwich for about the same price and just shake my head.

The service is kind and authentic.  It is lovely to be served by people who care about the place they work.

I have yet to hit this place for hangover recovery, but I've got a feeling it will handle that role in rockstar fashion.

Il Davide Restaurant

This is definitely a place for regulars. If you are the type of person who loves that feel a part of a restaurant community feel - the Il Davide is a great place for you.

David was attentive to us until a regular side-tracked him and we fell a bit down the hierarchy. Which by the way, is totally cool. Having worked in service, I totally get it. It was 8:30 on a busy Friday night. He also joked about not "trusting everything you read on Yelp" when I mentioned I found his place on Yelp, some aside about an ex-girlfriend. Um, dude - you are loved on Yelp. Give it some props!

Great serving staff. Happy to help you. Not pretentious. Just lovely.

Wonderful food.
The INSALATA BARBABIETOLE E RUCOLA is one of the better salads I've had in a while, if you like strong salads.  Yum!
The INSALATA  ALLA SPINACINI was pretty light and left me a bit Meh. My least favorite part of my food experience.

My wife seriously dug her RAVIOLI SAN REMO. I could smell the awesomeness of the basil-saffron broth from across the table.

I got the OSSO BUCO D'AGNELLO. It was phenomenal. I was a bit disappointed at first, but it was my fault. I hadn't read the menu description ... which are incredibly telling. It is a "LAMB" shank (not sure why the all-caps and quotation marks, perhaps to catch the attention of idiots like me) so it is not as marrow-heavy as a veal, which is what I was in the mood for that evening. However, the meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce was king.

Overall, lovely experience. I think I'd prefer a quieter non-weekend night - leave the weekends to the regulars and people who love the bustle.

Mulberry Street Pizzeria

Update - 9/11/2010
As I've stated earlier, this continues to be an A-OK place.  It does feel like they have gotten lazy.  They have the signature pizza and they just keep doing the same thing over and over and over.  I don't sense passion.

We ordered the house wine and during the pour the server wouldn't show us the label.  When I asked what it was, he just said "a nice shiraz."  OK, that narrows it down...  At least the make a generous pour of their mystery wine.

We had the mushroom-laden pizza, which is an interesting experience.  We also tried the Three Beer Pizza. It is a tasty pizza, but a bit of insult to "Cajun spicy."  It's not that spicy or Cajun - but it is tasty.

We do this about once every 2 years, and that seems about right. Show owner comment »

First, let me say 3 stars is about as good as pizza gets in Marin.  I am amazed by the lack of good pizza in this place.  I grew up a foodie in the South and then lived in Chicago so I got used to good pizza.

Mulberry does have great service.  The hostess was really nice.  I just went and split a cheese pizza with my son.  I had an okay salad to open.  Everything was fine.  The cheese slid off the pizza ... you know how that happens when you have a ton of cheese and a ton of sauce?  So if you are into that, then this place is great for you.  I'm not a huge fan.

I do agree.  I am DEFINITELY taking the in-laws here next time they come.  It is a good options for those looking to please middle of the country peeps (as long as they aren't from Chicago! Then you need to avoid all Marin pizza.)

Nice salon with a simple design and comfortable atmosphere. Great central location for enjoying the San Rafael strip of goodness.

And yes, Dave seriously rocks.  He even tamed my beard.   I'm one of those people who dreads having to talk to a stylist, but I look forward to seeing and talking with Dave.

I've gone twice now.

Both times, I got a giant bowl of the Katana-Ya Ramen.  How can you go wrong? A giant bowl of steaming ramen in miso broth with fried pot stickers, fried chicken, pork, corn, hard-boiled egg ... you leave feeling like you just got a warm hug from a Japanese grandma.

We lucked out an got a lunchtime seat really quickly.  If you live in the city you can go when the timing is right.  And the service is perfect.

Over-priced - but nice standard counter food.

TASTY onion rings, decent fries, pretty good shakes.

I saw a mom and small kid (maybe 6-7) doing homework at one of the tables, the kid was crunching on a corn dog while laughing with homework and mom - it was that kind of place - where that kind of thing should happen.

We walked from Kaiser and got 9pm big chocolate shakes the other night - but really $8+ ... hmmmm.

The kind of comic store that you can wonder around and find a whole slew of things to read.

I like the different ways of organizing the comics: My wife was in the hospital and she's been reading Sandman for the first time, so the Neil Gaiman section grabbed my eye - I was able to grab the new children's book Instructions from him.  I like when comic stores show complete respect for the creators, not just the titles.

I had a good conversation about both new Avengers stuff and independent stuff - It is the kind of joint that "loves them all" rather than being snooty.  Very nice.

Walked in here randomly while waiting for a pizza.

ABITA AMBER ON TAP. Hell's yeah!  I got a great seat next to a filthy window with sunlight just making it into the joint.  Good beer-drinking music on the jukebox.

I only went in for one happy hour beer and left. But, it was exactly what I needed.  Thanks for being there The Page.

Little Star Pizza

I lived in Chicago for years - in fact I served food in the luxury boxes at Wrigley Field - where I once had pizza with Tommy Lasorda.

This is good pizza.

We ordered take out twice in 3 days (my wife was in the nearby hospital).  The first time I ordered on the phone and it was a lousy ordering experience - the person on the phone did not care that I existed in ANY sort of way.  The next time I went in and ordered - the people were lovely and considerate both on my ordering and pick-up.

Great pizza - seriously, I liked it more than most Chicago-style pizza I've had in Chicago.  It was light and heavy in all the right places.  It was so cheesy, but not SO cheesy.  Tasty tomato sauce.  Buttery crust perfection. And a "small" that is the absolute right size for 2 people!
