My mum went in to see Dr. Pearl because she had a swollen foot. She had type II diabetes and this is a big deal.

Not only did the doctor treat my mom with antibiotics, he requested blood labs on her.

These blood labs resulted in my mother discovering that she had a very serious blood disease, which allowed her to start treatment.  While she subsequently succumbed to the disease, Dr. Pearl was an amazing doctor and went above and beyond what I, personally, expect in a podiatrist.

My mother loved working with him, was quite charmed, and very impressed with his experience, with his collegial relationship and affiliation with the Virginia Hospital Center and its doctors, and I knew that his care and bedside manner helped my mom get over her natural fear of doctors.

Honestly, my mom and I were/are very grateful to both his primary job: taking care of feet; but also because he went above and beyond to help my mother in her general health.

He was indeed vigilant.

NRA Shooting Range

Category: Gun/Rifle Ranges

5.0 star rating

Firstly, the NRA Range does not rent guns. You need to have your own firearm.

Secondly, when you arrive for the first time, you need to come a half-hour early to read a briefing and then take a simple test, but it is easy.  When you're done, you'll have a green range card if you're not an NRA member or a blue card if you are.

Thirdly, they do sell affordable ammunition there as well as paper targets. If you forget your earmuffs or plugs, eye protection or target stapler, then they have you covered.

Finally, you'll only be able to book one hour at a time, though you'll be allowed to get back on the list if you need more time.

Ever since I got turned back on to shooting while at a trap range at my buddy's bachelor party weekend I have become quite the shooter and the NRA Range is my shooting home. The folks there are very helpful.

The NRA Range is also the epicenter of firearm and gun culture in the area so there are fliers and news and also advertisements for classes.  Be sure to check the hours and also call in because sometimes the range is closed for rifle, sharpshooting, and other types of competitions.  When there are competitions, the range is closed to the public.

The range has shooting distances to 150 feet (50 yeards) long and using automatic target retrieval system that allows the shooter to edge and face the target for time intervals programmed by the shooter.
All pistol calibers and centerfire rifle up to .460 Weatherby Magnum, including shotguns as long as you use slugs and not shot.

It costs $14.00 per hour/per lane for NRA members with additional shooter sharing a lane with a member an additional $8.00 per hour/per lane. Non NRA members are $18.00 per hour/per lane with additional shooter sharing a lane with a non-member an additional $12.00 per hour/per lane. Shooters under the age of 18 sharing a lane with an adult are free and there are lots kids at the range with their dads or with their shooting team.

Very solid Tom Ka Gai and delicious Green Curry. Large portions and very satisfying. Ate at the bar by myself and had couple Singha and felt very welcome. I just stopped in but I would surely return.

I came in on the first day it opened. So clean and convenient to where I live in Arlington, Virginia. I bought a couple personal training sessions and started with Julian. After a week Julian left for another opportunity but I inherited James, my trainer now. I had been doing it three times a week, Monday-Wednesday-Friday, but have popped it to 5-times this week and it has transformed me. I think James is great and I have committed to 4 months of 3-times/week training and we'll see what happens at the end. Great staff, brand new gym. Free parking. I highly recommend it. It is an "Express" gym so it is much smaller than the Alexandria gym. There's suntanning and a place to plop your child while you're working out, a day care, but there's no spa or salon. Great place. Say hi to the General Manager Matt and give James-the-trainer a try.

Courtyard by Marriott

I only stay in Roswell because I have a client there. That said, I have been back to this Courtyard by Marriott again and again and my experience has always been good.  I don't ever really get up and around in enough time to take advantage of any hotel's breakfast buffet but on Wednesday nights, they offer a buffet of sushi, chicken wings, wine, and beer, cheese, etc -- sort of a happy hour.  The beds are comfortable and the flat-panel TV is great, though the reception they have on some channels is wonky.  The quality of the free Wi-Fi is high and through ibahn, though you have to re-sign-in every 24-hours.  The staff is responsive and there is a very large and very nice business area in the front.  Thought I didn't use their gym or the pool, the facilities are nice.  I had a number of packages Fedexed and mailed to me and their service has always been friendly.  Mind you, this isn't a hotel proper, it is really more of a hybrid motel.  Don't go there as a destination but if you're doing local business, I can surely recommend it, even for an extended stay.  The rates are fair and there is a feeling of pride surrounding the property.

Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center

The Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center is a state park and is run in a very friendly sort of way. There was a skeet and a trap competition going on and it was amazing to watch these men pop pop pop orange birds out of the sky in such a wild assortment of shooting and sporting garb and the most exotic and exquisite over-under custom and ergonomic Brownings and Berettas.

What a smashing day. I highly recommend heading over to Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center. They don't care if you're brand new. They're always happy to introduce you to trap and skeet.

A round of trap was $5.50 for 25 clays. Renting the Berettas was cheap, considering how nice the shotguns were. I brought the ammo with me for around $29 for 100 12 gauge target shells at Dick's Sporting Goods on Columbia Pike in Arlington.

I visit Kathe Ana every Wednesday for acupuncture and she has changed my life and I am pretty convinced she's magic.  I am not attending for any particular ailment but just as part of my preventative care.

This is the closest I can get realistically to a European cafe experience. There are great food choices, delicious desserts, quality coffee and coffee drinks, and even wine and beer selections. The only reason I didn't go for 5 stars is because table service would make it perfect.  That said, it is more casual than a table service cafe and attracts students and squatters for the very cast and free wi-fi. There is also a very expansive and friendly outdoor patio that really makes the experience, especially during cool lovely summer evenings.  Traffic from Wilson isn't too bad.

Tasty China

Tasty China is surely the best, the boldest, and the most delicious and succulent Chinese food I have every had, globally -- though I have yet to visit China. Tasty China is well worth the visit not only from greater Atlanta but also the region, the south, the north, the United States, or glob ally. It is so hot and spicy it makes me cry but also with happiness too. Thanks to Liz for constantly making visits to Atlanta and Tasty China something of an annual habit.
