Secondly, when you arrive for the first time, you need to come a half-hour early to read a briefing and then take a simple test, but it is easy. When you're done, you'll have a green range card if you're not an NRA member or a blue card if you are.
Thirdly, they do sell affordable ammunition there as well as paper targets. If you forget your earmuffs or plugs, eye protection or target stapler, then they have you covered.
Finally, you'll only be able to book one hour at a time, though you'll be allowed to get back on the list if you need more time.
Ever since I got turned back on to shooting while at a trap range at my buddy's bachelor party weekend I have become quite the shooter and the NRA Range is my shooting home. The folks there are very helpful.
The NRA Range is also the epicenter of firearm and gun culture in the area so there are fliers and news and also advertisements for classes. Be sure to check the hours and also call in because sometimes the range is closed for rifle, sharpshooting, and other types of competitions. When there are competitions, the range is closed to the public.
The range has shooting distances to 150 feet (50 yeards) long and using automatic target retrieval system that allows the shooter to edge and face the target for time intervals programmed by the shooter.
All pistol calibers and centerfire rifle up to .460 Weatherby Magnum, including shotguns as long as you use slugs and not shot.
It costs $14.00 per hour/per lane for NRA members with additional shooter sharing a lane with a member an additional $8.00 per hour/per lane. Non NRA members are $18.00 per hour/per lane with additional shooter sharing a lane with a non-member an additional $12.00 per hour/per lane. Shooters under the age of 18 sharing a lane with an adult are free and there are lots kids at the range with their dads or with their shooting team.
