The Miami Heat put on one of the best sporting events in South Florida. In July 2010, the Miami Heat signed three NBA superstars: Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. These three superstars will bring new excitement to South Florida in their quest for a NBA Championship and to establish a NBA Dynasty. This trio will also bring even more excitement to the South Beach nightlife as they are spotted at the best restaurants and clubs in town. This list has included Prime 112, Red The Steakhouse and The W Hotel.
The Miami Heat Organization is led by Managing General Partner Mikey Arison (Carnival Cruise Lines, Chairman), Pat Riley (President / 7 NBA Championship Rings), Eric Woolworth (Pres. Business Operations) and Erik Spoelstra (Head Coach / NBA youngest head coach and first Asian/Filipino-Ameri can head coach).
The Miami Heat also have local Miami High and former University of Florida Gator Udonis Haslem; Mario Chalmers "Rio" (he was a star at Kansas and is known for hitting the 3 pointer at the buzzer in the NCAA finals) and NBA journeyman and 3 point shooter Mike Miller.
There is something for everyone at these games including the award winning Miami Heat Dancers and the Golden Oldies (grandma and grandpa dancers...ugh). DJ Irie who you may know from South Beach or SOBE is the offiical Miami Heat DJ and can be found at the bottom of section 116.
If you look court side, you will often see a number of celebrities at each game from musical artists, athletes to movie stars. You will often see Dwyane Wade's girl friend Gabrielle Union, Gloria Estevan, Jimmy Buffett, Marino and Anna Kournikova.
The best place to sit is in the lower bowl (section 100+). Although since the free agent signing of LeBron, Wade and Bosh, tickets may be difficult to find. You can look on Craigslist and at the Hotel concierge desks. Section 200, 300 and 400 are the upper level seats at the American Airlines Arena. You can find scalpers on the streets near the arena but you should be very careful.
You can park near the arena for anywhere between $5 and $40 depending on how close you are to arena. There is metered parking but some of the homeless in the area will want to be compensated for your right to park there (this is not a priority among the Miami police). You can also take the Metro and the MetroMover to the Arena.
