I stopped into Redeye to get some work done while in Tallahassee and the place was comfortable and friendly. The coffee was good and they have a spacious location.

What I really like about the cafe is that they are a non-profit and donate all profits to three different causes. Panajachel, Guatemala, Benin, Africa, and Serve Tallahassee.

I really like the concept behind benefit focused company's and how concepts like these are being tried out in various ways and places.

Hattricks' is a great sports bar with excellent food, and friendly attractive staff. I've been going there for about 10 years now at least occasionally and it's always been consistent.

It is one of my favorite places for wings. The burger is great and blackened of grilled chicken sandwich are also good.

The place is super packed prior to home Lightning games so don't expect to come in last minute for dinner and find a table.

Was in Tallahassee for work and staying with my cousin a senior at FSU who introduced me to this place with some friends. It was an awesome space that had a good beer selection and serve wine and food as well.

The music that night was cool and the vintage movie/ad clips on the screen were a great addition. The service was friendly and timely.

I'd really love to see this concept on the north end of Downtown Tampa along Franklin Street. I think it would do well.

I have been to this Kahwa a number of times now and the service is good and friendly. The coffee is excellent and the food is good to from what I have sampled.

It's become a good meeting place and outpost for me when I am in St Pete for business or networking events etc. The environment is comfortable for conversation as well as working on the Laptop.

I was in Okeechobee for business over a weekend and found Lunker's when looking for a place close by to catch the USF game that Saturday night.

The place is very clean and the food is good - I ordered wings and a house salad.

The staff was attentive and the customers, almost certainly all locals were friendly and enthusiastic sports fans.

If you're in Okeechobee and looking for a sport bar Lunker's certainly seems to be more then just a safe bet.

Half outdoor garden, half indoor pub the New World Brewery is great Ybor City location for good food, a great beer selection and great live music.

Well known for hosting fundraisers and other party and live music events the place has finally taken a great step in the last year or so to accept credit cards which was had been an inconvenience.

The crowd is always friendly and the staff is timely even when it's really busy. The outside patio is rustic but comfortable and the interior is well suited for sitting at the bar or at tables with a group.

Cafe Hey

I've been to Cafe Hey a few times now and have always pleased. The service is prompt and the coffee is good. On my most recent visit I finally had lunch there and ordered the Ham and Swiss sandwich.

The sandwich was great with plenty of meet and cheese and on great Cuban bread. My only request next time would be to go a bit lighter on the maple Dijon sauce - it was yum - but I am not a heavy sauce person.

The place is a bit small so seating can be limited depending on when you go but other then that it's a great place to frequent just north of downtown Tampa.

Samurai Blue Sushi & Sake Bar

Samurai Blue is one of my favorite Sushi places because the sushi is as unique as the Ybor City venue itself.

Located in Centro Ybor, the restaurant sits in the back stage area of El Centro Español de Tampa's historic theater with the theater's fly space providing a dramatic and interesting high ceiling area above the modern decor of the restaurant.

The food at Samurai Blue is consistent and the service is typically very good. They have a unique rolls and are one of the few places I know that used conch on their Volcano Roll instead of whitefish, albeit it's been a while since I have verified that.

On a recent visit I ordered the Yin Yang Roll which is my absolute favorite and I have never seen anywhere else. The roll features eel and is wrapped with avocado and strawberries.

My unfortunately negative comment with this latest experience started when my server informed me that they were out of strawberries. However she saved the item by suggesting I try it with mango.

Awesome! Right?

Not so much whoever was managing that evening decided the server would have to "up charge" me a $1 for the mango. The server came to tell me and apologized - obviously understanding that the manager was being very petty.

I pleaded with the server letting her know it would not affect her tip hoping she would go back to her manager for reconsideration. She would not and I didn't bother asking for the manager.

I enjoyed the roll with the Mango it was quite good.

I was impressed the server had a "substitution" suggestion when they were out of an item. However I was very disappointed that management would consider an obvious substitution as an up charge and furthermore but a great server in a bad position over a $1.

Still great sushi and venue but management needs to tread lightly... I almost left an extra $1 to pay for the next customer's "up charge" to prove a point.

This lighthearted but telling story will live on a long time cause it's just funny to me.

The Globe Coffee Lounge - CLOSED

I don't always go to St Pete... but when I do, I really enjoy The Globe Coffee Lounge.

I'll start off with this: If you are a coffee shop owner reading this, add coffee ice cubes to your iced coffee. The Globe is the only place I know does this and I think it is the perfect way to serve iced coffee.

The Globe serves food, coffee and beer/wine.

I've only eaten there a couple times and the food has always been freshly prepared and good. The coffee, hot or cold is tasty - I drink it black without cream or sugar so it has to be a good flavored brew.

The coffee ice cubes? Again the best thing ever!

The decor is a hodgepodge of retro and garage sale and/or craigslist furniture with barely two chairs matching that perfectly fits there.

Most of my visits have been mid afternoon using the WiFi while having coffee and/or a Guinness.

Commuter Tip: If I have a St Pete event to attend after work I will usually drive over to the Globe mid afternoon to beat rush hour and get some work done before going off to the event sans traffic.

If you live in St Pete you have a gem, if you live in Tampa, be sure to visit.

Got stuck in Temple Terrace waiting on a car repair and searched for a place with WiFi that I could spend some time working and have lunch.

This place is a nice find for Temple Terrace. The staff was welcoming and service was attentive. I ordered the Wednesday pork chop with rice and was pleased with the quality.

After lunch I ordered a Café con leche and was also impressed. They have beer and wine, a selection of Colombian sodas and other deli/cafe type items.

Plenty of room, nicely decorated with Latin music playing and also well maintained.
