Despite a simple menu, I still find myself wanting to come back to try more things. The specials are always intriguing and the desserts (cakes!) are incredible. To bring to a party or for a special occasion, I recommend the chocolate cake with raspberry or the strawberry cream cake with the graham cracker-like crust. To eat in house, I would recommend the incredibly light cheesecake. A slice of heaven.

Although the wait was dang long, this review will be relatively short. Eating at A-Frame makes you feel like one of the cool kids. Drinks are solid. Kettle corn and pickles are tasty. The chowder is a-may-zing. Tempura and torta are good. Lamb chops were okay. Desserts! If you have room, do not pass on the opportunity. Head over to A-Frame, grab a drink while you wait, catch up with your old friends and cozy up to potential new ones at the communal tables.

Came here for a family birthday and had a BBE passcode for 30% off. Overall, had a great experience, and the service was exceptional. The best of the food: tomato soup with grilled cheese (the sandwiches were bigger than expected) tuna dynamite, and the warm corn bread. Loved the filet mignon entree, and the bamboo steamed halibut with ginger and lemongrass rocked. The truffle mac 'n cheese was super pungent, but I thought it was super tasty too! We brought our own birthday cake but they still brought us cotton candy! We didn't get the dessert platter because we were just too full, but I would honestly come back for the tomato soup, cocktails (great mango mojito), awesome service, and bathrooms! and the dessert platter sounds too good to pass up for next time. Simon LA, you are an LA staple for a reason! See you again very soon.

I have had R + D bookmarked for a while now and I cannot believe that it took me this long to get here. I haven't given a 5 star review in a while and I have to say, the food was exceptional! The Chinese noodle salad and the seared ahi salad were both AMAZING! The former was crunchy, spicy, and nutty, while the latter was rich with goat cheese, olives, avocado, tomatoes, and fantastic beets. Their mango iced tea tastes like it has mango puree in it, and even if it doesn't, I am going to pretend it does. Overall R + D is one of the only restaurants recently where I have said, I really need to come back here and try more things! Their menu is small, but maybe that is the key - less is more, do few things but do them well, etc. R + D is simple food with bold flavors and although you might not have enough money to go shopping around Montana afterwards, you will leave feeling completely culinarily satisfied!

After 900+ reviews, Alcove is still going strong. The staff is so incredibly friendly and the people watching is a 10. Great coffee, wraps, and desserts. Overall a great LA spot. I could sit here all day long.

I gotta say, I was underwhelmed by the pug burger. The bacon was too thick and greasy, and the patty was a bit thick also. The fries were awesome however! What I did love was the king crab leg with the amazing mustard sauce, and the heirloom tomato salad with watermelon and burrata was great! I could have skipped the ahi app - a bit heavy on the mayo. Had a great carafe of savignon blanc ($18). We were trying to catch a show at the Pantages, and had we not mentioned it, I think our food would have taken longer. The wait staff seemed pretty leisurely, if you get what I'm saying. Also, even though we chose to sit on the patio, it felt like I was in a mall or something. The atmosphere was not very intimate/cozy, Maybe inside would have been better. Overall though, an above par dining experience with a few celeb sightings! Pricey but tasty - would definitely recommend to other theater-goers before a show.

Susan Feniger's Street

Mozza is my go to staple on this here corner of LA, but after checking out the menu and the so-so Yelp reviews, I figured I would give Street a try before a show at the Hollywood Bowl.  Called to make a reservation the day before, and couldn't get one; but, the hostess kindly informed me that I should be able to walk in and get a seat at the bar (for 2) or be able to sit outside at the chef's tasting table. So, I figured I would give her recommendation a try. We pulled up to the restaurant at 6:57 PM and saw people starting to park on both sides of the street for free! We remembered that you can park on Highland starting after 7 PM so we didn't have to valet or look for a meter. This parking blessing boded well for our chance to get seated. We walked in and the manager not only showed us to one of the smaller tables at the front of the restaurant, which do not require a reservation, he even told us that he would honor the happy hour drink prices even though we walked in just after 7 PM. Loving this place already! The decor is typical Feniger- bold colors, human figures on the walls and good looking servers of the male and female variety. We got our $5 happy hour drinks, which I was "happy" about, seeing as people on Yelp are complaining about the drinks being overpriced. The cocktails we got were decent, but I would not have been happy to pay in the $15 range for these average cocktails - we got the one with vodka and lime, and the other with gin. Moving on to the food- LOVED the Kaya Toast! clams were also very good. Veggie dumplings were decent, heirloom tomato salad was nothing special, except I love tomatoes in any form, and our wild salmon "entree" was good (on the smaller side), but really I could have made it at home. The salmon came with a Hawaiian fried rice which I have also made at home as well. I was all set to give the experience 3 stars because the food was good, but nothing I would run back to. However, we decided to order dessert and since strawberry rhubarb is my favorite, I could not resist their newly added rhubarb strawberry crisp with ginger streusel. It also came with a homemade tiny rhubarb cream soda and straw, which was good but should have been cold. But back to the crisp- one of the best restaurant deserts I have ever had! (besides Mozza) The flavors were so fresh and rich- I love the combo of sweet and tart, and the crumble was light and flavorful. The edges were burnt just right and since the crumble was hot, the fresh whipped cream melted perfectly. This dessert alone bumped the review up a whole star, and even the people standing behind us, waiting for a table said to each other, "whatever they are eating, we are getting that." I quickly turned around and told them it was the rhubarb strawberry crisp and it was the best dish we had, hands down! I would come back to street for the happy hour (they have different food choices from 5-7 along with drinks) and maybe the brunch - Feniger knows her eggs! Just a note - everything was on the salty side so make sure to hydrate prior to eating here! Happy eating! XOXO LK

I actually prefer the Venice location but the lemonade, couscous salad, watermelon radishes, and macaroons are still AMAZING! The food never disappoints, and although the prices are a little steep, you will most likely have a celebrity sighting - however whether that sighting is of A,B,C, or D status I cannot predict.
