The DH got some to-go for the outdoor symphony this Saturday... Shared the chicken burrito (we don't usually get chicken but we were gonna share w/ the baby foodrat) and nachos al pastor. LOVED the chips. The al pastor, not so much. It was bland bland bland. Don't they salt their food??
But really their nachos in general are the perfect kind of nachos if you're dining out... Tasty, CRUNCHY chips don't get soggy... and fake cheese which doesn't harden up after 3 minutes.
Do we need to return to see what the fuss is all about or just dive into that infamous humongous burrito??

Alexander's Steakhouse

Fairly decent steaks but was really surprised they weren't better. I really wanted that can't-stop-eating-this feeling and it wasn't there at all. Perhaps I should have ordered my steak rare. I just assumed that the chef's version of medium rare would have been rarer, I guess. My dry aged steak seemed to me a little on the dry side, although the flavor was there. Well, my leftovers did tasted better then K's rib eye (which if I remember correctly, was wet aged) the next day.
I was also surprised at the service. To many folks, I'm sure they would have thought that the service was stellar, but I really thought it was more on the condescending side. I mean, must the server explain every. little. detail.??? "This is an amuse bouche. An amuse bouche is a..." yada yada yada. Just shut up already and let me eat. It's as if we diners have never eaten out before... And apparently it's a (new) pet peeve of mine when the food is served when not everybody is at the table. But then again, is it the fault of the server or just the diner??? lol.
Although I expected the steaks to be better, everything else was SOOO good. Really enjoyed the hamachi shooters and the truffled fries. I'd go back just for the truffled fries but I'd sit at the bar and not order the full dinner.

Note to self. Do not... repeat. DO NOT go to donut shops on an empty stomach.
Not sure how it happened, but somehow I arrived home with a glazed donut, maple donut, blueberry donut and a cake donut. It started out with *just* a generous bite to "sample" the goods... Wasn't too impressed with the cake donut; it was so dry. The glazed and and the maple were fine - nothing to write home about. And the blueberry... YUM! I will return but only for the blueberry donut. And then... next thing I knew, the bag was empty!
So the sad thing is, even though I wasn't impressed with all of them, I finished them. All FOUR donuts. Ergh. What have I done? Why, why, why????!

So far, so good. My little one enjoys her swim class but then again, she's not yet one. Our instructor Andrew is super nice and patient and is great with the kids. My only beef is with their locker room. It's too small. A locker room full of moms and their kid(s) showering, changing, etc... it takes me over 30 minutes to shower and change due to the line for the shower (they have 2).
Service is friendly and the store is clean. I'm happy as a clam shopping here.

Insanely slow service. If not for the slow service, I would have given this place 4 stars...
So slow, we were offered a discount because the wait for our ice cream sundaes was so long. And then you know what? They forgot to put it on the tab. We just gave a crappy tip instead, which they deserved.
*sigh*
But I have to admit my apple pie/chocolate marble ice cream combo with caramel sauce was fantastic. Thinking back, I wish I finished it off. However, my butt/tummy/hips thank me now...
