Let's start my first review of the year with a great find!

I would be really sad if I ever become lactose intolerant!! Cuz I LOVE cheese!!!  I was in the area, stopped by the Cheese Shop for a sandwich and soup.  There was a couple people in line, so I went to check out the AMAZING cheese section while I was waiting.

The whole store smells like cheese heaven from the time you walk in, and the amazing choices of so many types of cheeses!!!! (see photo).

I decided to try their brie and blue cheese.  The double creme brie was the creamiest brie I ever had and the blue cheese was just wonderfully smelly :)

FYI - Store is close on Sundays.

Wohoo - This is my 400th review!!

http://www.nesop.com/W...

If you are looking for photography workshops,  this is the place.  I have been looking high-and-low for the "right" classes-NESOP, BCAE, CCAE, various camera stores, and local community college.  But it's either too expensive, or it didn't have the class I want.

NESOP was the one that I found to have a wide varieties of photography classes at the right price (my class was about $350ish, it had 8 sessions, each session was 3.5 hours long).  I decided to attend the architectural photography class here, it was probably one of the best photography class I received.

NESOP posts the upcoming classes schedule about a month or so before classes start and they fill up fast (especially the beginner and advance digital photography class), so make sure you check the current schedule often for next semester classes.  Easy registration process, staff was helpful (wish NESOP have online registration and payment option).

The class I took was small with 6 students, instructor was very knowledgeable in architectural photography.  He gave is a quick overview about photography basic and then focused on techniques in architectural photography.  We had 2 "field-trips" to shoot outdoor and indoor photos, and weekly assignments to shoot different subjects. He reviewed and critiqued our work,  provided us walk-through/demo in Photoshop, and also discussed other architectural photographers' work/style.  Instructor was very open to take our questions (I have a lot of "stupid" questions in my head!)

The amount of information I obtained from the class was tremendous, I was able to achieve my personal objectives on learning more about photography from the class.  You can see my photos for our final presentations: http://www.flickr.com/...

I will highly recommend NESOP to others that are interested to explore and learn more about photography.  I am looking forward to take future classes there.

Don't ask me why I didn't know about this place for the past 15 years I lived in Quincy, I mean I drive past here all the time when I go over to Kam Man.

Anway, I am glad I finally made it here recently.  We were very lucky that night, we parked right next to the restaruant, walked right in and got a seat.

I did my usual stare-at-what-other-people-eating thing, and I liked what I see.  I ordered the Shrimp Cecelia - Large shrimp sauteed with mushrooms, spinach, prosuciutto, in an alfredo sauce served with fusilli.  I love the big big shrimp and alfredo sauce was great.  I'm happy with the portion (extra for lunch next day).

Also, I purposely saved room for dessert - Tiramisu!! It was a good size that can be shared by two.

Love this even more that the price is reasonable.  Can't wait to come back here with my friends and family!

Ahhh...I guess it is time to share my little secret...

All-You-Can-Eat-Prime-Rib (AYCEPR?) for $17!!

Yeap - You heard that right.  This is a special only on Friday and Sat from 6:00pm - 9:30pm at the Hancock's Steak & Seafood inside the Quincy Marriott.

Prime Rib dinner comes with salad, mashed potato, and asparagus!  The Prime Rib is fresh, thick and juicy.  Server will come when you are almost done with your first one to see if you want more and they will keep coming back until you say no more!!

This is a great deal and good quality beef.  Let's see who can eat the most (my record is 3.5 pieces of prime rib).

Above All Transportation

We had to look for a mid-size bus to transfer 35 guests from an office meeting to dinner then to their hotels (6 hotels in the downtown area).

We were suprised with the high quotes that we got from other shuttle buses companies (4 hours minimum, 8% fuel surcharge, hourly rate - starts/ends from the time the shuttle leaves/arrives to gargage-which could be additional 3 hours charge)!!!

Above All Transportation was our jackpot!!!
 - Price - Much cheaper than other quotes we received - no hidden surcharge and no additional hours for the shuttle leaving/arriving from the garage.
 - Timeliness - Arrived early at our office to pick up the guests (no additional charge), provided driver's contact information in case we need to call him.  Prompty picked up at the restaurant and dropped off all the guests at the 6 different hotels.

One thing I would make sure when you call to get a quote, make sure you get the person name that give you the quote.  We got a different quote when we called back the next day to reserve the bus, but they were able to honor the earlier quote.

I recently helped with a small 50-person meeting reception and used Catering to You for the decor, food and drinks.

Cindy and her staff arrived plenty of time before the event to setup tables and decor.  Cindy did an amazing centerpiece (Mocha colored roses? inside a vintage birdcage!) which matched with the gorgeous table cloth color.

She provided an awesome spread of food (veggie platter-came with asparagus!, cocktail shrimps, cheeses, crackers, **super yummy garlic flavored baguette**, pasta salad and much more).  Staff did a great job refilling food as they were running low, which made it felt like we had unlimited about of shrimps :)  And plenty of drinks to go around.

Cindy was friendly and funny to talk to.  She has great ideas about planning events and locations suggestions.  Price is very reasonable for the amount of food that was provided.  I am looking forward to work with Cindy again at other events!

The Juice Bar in Chinatown is BACK!!! It is now located on the street level at 40-44 Harrison Ave (next to Eldo bakery!)  The owner lady is still there, and she is friendly as she used to be! I will have to say this is the best bubble tea/drink place in Boston!!!

I always miss this place since the Chinatown Eatery closed down back in 2006.  Because the Juice Bar is probably the only one place that serves the drinks with FRESH fruit (not the fake powder stuff!!)

My favorite at the Juice Bar is the yummy Bubble Milk Tea ($3.5), Watermelon Juice ($2.75), Ice-Cream with Red Bean ($3.25).

This is a great place to stop by to grab a refreshing drink in the summer!!!  I am so excited this reopens the same week I relocated back to Boston from DC!!!

Update - 4/3/2009
DG just got dad's approval. He actually didn't have any complaints and said he liked it that stuff is not too sweet.

The family enjoyed some frozen custard (peanut and cracker jack), lemon lavender sorbet, orange blossom sorbet, strawberry rhubarb cobbler, almond cracker, lavender cookie, and marshmallow.  AND one pint vanilla frozen custard to go :)

We did all this right before dinner.  Who said dessert has to come after dinner??

Dairy Godmother is now on Twitter: https://twitter.c...

I was so bummed that I missed the Buttered Pecan flavor (my fav)  from couple weeks ago...cuz I forgot to monitor the calendar!!! Darn it. Now I will never miss my favorite flavors from DG....Thanks to Twitter.

    Location:
I have been going to DG for the past 2 years...I love the laid back atmosphere.  DG is located on Mt. Vernon in Del Ray, which is an awesome neighborhood with tons of cute stores (i.e. Cheesetique!)  Very pet friendly area.  You can sit outside DG or walk along the street while enjoying your frozen custard.  I think there's a farmers market on Sat (April - ?) at the parking lot across the street from DG.

    The Goodies:
Frozen Custard - flavors of the day (FOTD): http://www.thedai...
Great and unique FOTDs and sorbet...ooo...don't forget the pastries...the giant cookies and marshmallow!!! ahhh....

    Hours:
Mon 12-9pm, Closed Tue, Wed 12-9pm, Thur-Sat 12-10pm, Sun 12-9pm (Double check the website for hours.  They may have different hours in the winter.)  And they usually take whole month of Jan off.

    Overall assessment:
The staff and owner are great.  Price is good.  Custard is out of this world.  What more can I ask for.

This is one of the stop I take all my visitors/friends to check out.  They all enjoy the smooth frozen custard that are super refreshing!!!  I even got mom's approval to this place.  I am sure she wants to come here whenever she visits DC again!!!

Derryk - Totally agree with you that this is a spectacular event.  I was there last year, took tons of photos: http://www.flickr.com/...

But I have to say the logistics of  getting there and leaving were HORRIBLE.  I took public transportation, took the shuttles from the Branch Ave Metro Station (Green Line).  There was hundreds of people going through security and waiting for the shuttle when I got there.  So get there early!!  You can also drive and park at the Fedex field and take the shuttle.  Not sure if it's better.Same huge lines when you are leaving....it just crazy of how long you have to wait to get out.

But it's worth it to check out the amazing Blue Angels.  There's really no bad spots to watch the show. You can see there from any where at the base, cuz they just fly over your head!!! Best of all...it's FREE!!

I have been to the Opera House for several shows.  Most recently - Dirty Dancing!  Great show and dancing was great and dirty!!!

My SO and I got tix for the front row (AA) middle section for this show.  They were actually not that great.  Because of the stage was so high and we were so closed.  We couldn't see what was actually going on stage.  I would suggest you select seats at least from the 5th row and back.

But overall, the Opera House was a great restoration project.  I love the grand feeling of the theatre!

FYI #1- Student can get student rush ticket for $25 cash (one ticket per one student ID) at the Opera House ticket office one hour before the show starts.

FYI #2-Women bathroom line during the intermission is crazy.

FYI #3-In the program, there's an ad for free coffee/hot choc at Finale :)
