I have been getting their lunch sandwich specials for years. Great deal for around $5
Where Mario's really shines is their catering service.
We have used them 4 or 5 times when we have had large pool parties.
I always figure I can spend a few hours barbecuing for 50 in the hot sun, or just call Mario's.
We order two of their Monstrous Dimitrie pizzas, this thing is seriously huge, we also order a tray of salad, a tray of the spaghetti and a half tray of fettuccini. Don't for get the bread-sticks they are great.
Delivery is always on time, which is important for a party and the price is always very good. I cant cook it myself for the the cost these guys do it for, and it is nice to not have to worry about anything when we go with Mario's.
Took my car in for service here a few months ago.. Unfortunately I could never recommend this service station. I brought my truck here because it was close to home and I assumed they would be fair since I had been buying gas here for years.
I was pretty sure of what the problem was and asked them to check it and quote a repair. They told me it would be $75 to diagnosis it and that the $75 would go towards the repair if I choose to fix it there.
The problem was exactly what I thought it was, they did confirm that.
Then came their quote. It seemed on the high side to me at $800 and that quote was to use non OEM parts.
The problem was the fuel pump needed to be replaced, and to do this they would have to drop the gas tank. It is a big job, I agree.
Again the price seemed high so I called a Ford dealer to see what they would charge to to the same job.
They came back $250 cheaper.
I told this to the head Mechanic at Union 76, and asked if he could match this price. I said if he could I would still be OK with him using the Generic parts.
He told me the price is the price and he would not negotiate.
Look, I was not looking for a deal here, I was looking for them to simply be fair.
We all know going to a dealer is always more expensive than a small shop, so why the heck was Union 76 $250 more than the darn Ford dealer?
I paid my $75 diagnosis fee (even though I pretty much diagnosed the car myself, they just confirmed I was correct) and I had AAA tow me to Citrus Ford, which is where I clearly should have taken my truck in the first place.
I still saved $150 over their quote by taking my car to Ford even after paying their diagnosis fee and the tow.
Now I am not even getting gas at Union 76.
I never minded paying 5 cents a gallon more than the Mobile station right across the street because I always felt 76 gas was the best.
Not any more, after 8 years of getting gas at 76, I am now a Mobile customer as long as I live in Alta Loma.
I seriously got the feeling these guys make a lot of their income off of those $75 diagnosis fees. They quote high and figure you will either agree to it since you are already there and your car is already on the lift, or worse case for them if you are not an idiot and you do not go for it, they still make their $75 diagnosis fee.
