My Last Meal On Eartha terrific steak with a good bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon
OK BBQ but nothing super. Good homemade rolls which are distributed throughout the meal by a lady walking around with a basket of rolls
The brisket was so-so; I thought it too chewy. The ribs were very tender and smokey. The sides are pasable.
An OK place but doesn't compare with Rudys in Tyler.

Fabulous, HUGE crab cakes. The Maryland Crab Soup is pretty good too but the crab cakes are outstanding. Be careful what you order because two of these crab cakes is too much for lunch.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries
Category: Burgers
Definitely a place try! Excellent burgers and fries made from fresh potatoes. The burgers are hot and greasy and delicious... like a burger is supposed to be.
Be careful telling them you want "everything on it" like I did... they put so much stuff (jalapenos, mushrooms, etc.) that it was difficult to handle.
I went from the Courtyard Capitol Hill --- just 1 block.
A real hamburger place and a real keeper.

Doug's & Don's Barber Shop
Category: Barbers
Neighborhood: The Heights
I read the glowing reviews and drove to Doug's and Don's from The Woodlands (40 minutes each way) to finally get a decent haircut. What I got was so-so. I don't know what all the excitement is about because my cut wasn't all that good.
The barber shop has a nice retro feel and probably beats anything in The Woodlands but... I am still looking for a barber.

Sucks! You'd be better off cutting your own hair with a butcher knife. The ladies have been here a long time but haven't progressed much.
This place REALLY knows how to fry seafood. Fried seafood is a Louisiana staple and these folks get it right. I had the shrimp and oyster basket and both were fantastic.
The only negatives are the size of the place (tiny) with New-Orleans-Sized parking and some very, very uninspiring coleslaw.

A satisfying encounter!
I made an appointment online and picked my tires. When I arrived, they were ready immediately to start (no waiting), had my tires down and ready, and had me in and out in less than 30 minutes.
I can't believe I suffered through Goodyear's four hour waits in the past because I didn't know about this kind of tire place. That's over, good bye Goodyear.

One of my hangouts from my days at LSU. I have always enjoyed the quality, creative sandwiches BUT I note that this last weekend there was a major fire at the Caterie which may shut it down permanently - a great loss.
Eh, what's the big deal here. The ham tastes just like the deli ham from the nearby Kroger. There was enough to eat and the ingredients were all high quality but the sandwich just didn't click.
The first problem was being ice cold. Something should be a little warmer to generate aromas... perhaps the ham? ..toasted bread?
The biggest problem was the bread/roll. It was very sweet to the point where the sweet taste masked everything else.
At almost $7 for a sandwich and drink, It's not cheap. I didn't get anything here that would make me want to go back and blow another $7.
