Mars Bar & Restaurant

I held a casual pre-F8 Happy Hour for my company at Mars Bar and couldn't have been more pleased with the results. We had such a great time! Jenny the bar's owner was extremely helpful in planning and was always quick with correspondence. She came to the table with some great ideas and was super helpful in accommodating our fluctuating guest list.

When I got there, I was greeted by Saba who simply put, rocks. She was a pleasure to work with as were the bartenders Amber, Paul and Justin.

I would highly recommend choosing Mars Bar as a venue for your event, the staff is kind and fun, great drinks and food are terrific. The  spacious atmosphere can accommodate both small and larger parties. Bonus points for location if you are an SF startup.

On behalf of BranchOut, I am very happy to give Mars Bar a solid 5 stars, we will most certainly be back!

I have frequented the Beauty Company many a Sunday morning stroll. My routine consist of coffee and brunch on Polk with a quick stop in the Beauty Company to pick up a polish or gift.

This past Sunday, I came in for a quick spray tan as "summers" in SF have my skin looking sallow at best. Genius over here (moi) left an extremely sentimental and very valuable ring in the changing room.

I didn't realize it until later in the day, and called them frantically. Long story short...JENNI ROCKS. I blown away by how kind and helpful she was in helping me find my lost ring. She even called someone who spray tanned after me to see if they found it.

I like to believe that there are honest and good people in the world...to whom ever hired Jenni, I really hope you are reading this. She gives your business a good name and you did a fantastic job hiring people who are not only knowledgeable about your products and about beauty, but also people with strong morals. I am thrilled to have my ring back, thank you.

BIG THANK YOU TO MS. ANASTASIA SHEPHARD! If you are her boss and you are reading this, please give her a serious high-five (and a raise cough cough).

Ana's manners, grace and in depth knowledge of all things Apple saved my day. I am someone who is so dependent on my iPhone that I will literally Shazzam a song that is playing on my laptop due to total laziness and tech-nerdiness. You can imagine my fright when my iPhone stopped working. Terror.

Ana- I know you were having a crazy day, but you managed to help 5 clients at once and did so with a smile and a patient attitude. It's people like you that make me a very loyal Apple user.

When I look back on my pictures from college, I sometimes make a weird face. It resembles a face one would make after gulping spoiled milk. I rock ("rock") a different hair color in every three pictures. I can actually remember dying my hair from a box as a way to avoid having to study for finals....

Okay, so I get bored easily and take it out on my hair. Brittany gets me. I've only seen her twice so far and both times have gone for very different looks (ombre and subtle highlights). She is quick while being very precise. She is fun to chat with and has a great eye for matching skin tone/warmth/hue. She is trendy and has her own unique style, plus her hair always looks cute, so I trust her.

The salon itself is very Euro and chic. I've loved my experience thus far and look forward to getting my hair did with Brittany again soon!

Cruisin down the street in my six-fo'. Okay, no, that's a complete lie. It was a Volvo and I was in Studio City on Ventura Blvd (holler 818) when I came across this gem. Naturally, I pull out my iPhone, check Yelp and voila! Good reviews, so I spontaneously pop in. I was immediately guided to a clean and dim hallway with several curtained off floor beds.

The massage felt really long and satisfying. I loved the stretching and pressure. Not to be a perv, but ladies...take off your err undergarments. I left my thong on and she kept scooting it down so that I got the full benefits of a traditional Thai massage. Rookie mistake. Doh!

A bottle of water and a "get 10, get 1 free" card greeted me when we were done. With a $35 price tag, I will absolutely hang onto that card.

Celadon is stunningly gorgeous, rustic and refined all at once. There is an indoor seating area (you are crazy to sit here, unless it's cold, then I suppose I understand) and a lovely, romantic, dimly light indoor/outdoor patio. The fire place completes the mood.

I came for dinner (http://www.celadonnapa...) and was overwhelmed by the intimate dining experience.

The food was delicious, drinks delicate and flavorful, the service impeccable and the bill was totally reasonable.

What a treat, I look forward to dining here again soon.

1. The energy at 5AM in Union Square feels like there is a synthesizer plugged into the street lamps, it's buzzing and everyone feels it and it's actually really beautiful

2. This course is out of control scenic, you should study the map and practice the hills before the event

3. Do multiple anti-rain dances the days prior to running. You can justify your weird dance moves as stretching. Running on hills in SF is grueling, but running on hills in SF in a DOWNPOUR is the opposite of sane

4. Nike made the event very very very organized, I felt supported by Gatorade, water, signs, cowbells and people in unnecessary and odd costumes (after all, this IS San Francisco)

5. The beginning of the race is super crowded, know yourself and start slow, the tourists will get trapped in the first hill by Aquatic Park (what?? it's not mean, they will because they haven't trained on SF hills!!) and you can pull ahead

6. Feel free to say hi to me, I will be that brunette in leggings and a hat

7. THAT DAMN LAKE MERCED IS THE WORST! I couldn't tell if I was 1/4 of the way around 1/2. It comes at the very end, with like 6 miles left save your music, your running buddy, shit...make friends with someone who is your speed....do anything you can to distract yourself!!!!!!!!!

8. The end of the race is very rewarding and makes it all worth it.

Transportation back to Union Square is a breeze, the necklace is timeless and your pictures will live in infamy and you will always wonder if you really looked that disgusting during the entire race. You did, probably worse actually. But hunny...who cares you just ran 26.2 miles and you rock!

I always wanted to be a highschool cheerleader. Unfortunately, I went to a Liberal Arts private school (please pronounce that in an English accent so that it sounds fancy) that didn't have a football team, so alas...my dreams have gone unfulfilled.

So here is where you come in Yelp, ol buddy ol pal. I am going to write a cheer for Butterfly and you are going to like it. Good, I am glad it's settled then.

B-U-T-T-E-R-F-L-Y (naturally the "-" represent claps)
Your drinks are yum (clap clap)
I love your view (clap clap)
Your food's too salty (clap clap)
Into the convenient Bay I will spew (clap clap)

Okay, so it's a work in progress. But really, I like Asian Fusion as much as the next Jewish girl (that's a lot), but good grief, there are other flavors besides "salt". I really do like the wok-seared garlic noodles, but there was nothing SO uniquely special about them that I couldn't wok them myself. Are people using wok as a verb these days? Just go with it.

A poem to the place where everyone at the deli counter knows my name:

Whole Foods on Franklin,
you are so close to my house and even closer to my heart.

So much to share,
now where shall I start?

I will begin by saying a quick thanks for the fresh produce and fruits,
again, so close to my house, I can walk to you in my tallest heeled boots.

Your prices are wild, your aisles filled with many a small child, you have all kinda of salsa, my favorite being the mild.

I like how you make me feel good about my eating habits and your meat counter taught me how to cook a slab of rabbit.

Your deli makes being lazy/hungover so damn easy,
I know I will see you again soon, and that, is forsheezy.

Things I like: wine, nice people, easy conversation, reasonable prices
Things I hate: waxing, awkwardness, dirty spaces

Oh Jill, you made one of the things I hate not so bad (I'm referring to the waxing--I still hate awkwardness and dirty spaces, I don't really see that changing). That was quick and easy and your space is b.e.a---uuuuutiful! I really appreciate the wine and the LCD Soundsystem. You not only accommodated my busy schedule by staying late, but you also emailed me a confirmation for my reschedule within minutes. That was so cool and really helpful on my end.

Oh and +50 points for using Square.

In the words of the man (creep) who fathered a son fourteen years ago with his employee, "I will be back."
