Seasonal, local, fresh, unbelievably wonderful twist on Italian. The menu changes every day, so give it a shot and I'm sure it'll become a fast favorite. See my full review and photos here: http://bit.ly/RomansBK

The beer choices were diverse and delicious, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and warm, set in a basement in the East Village. My beer "paddle" included the Left Hand Porter, Arcobrau unfiltered lager from Germany, Lagunitas' Little Sumptin Wild and the Allagash White Belgian Withier, from left to right. They were all great, but the Arcobrau really stood out. The Oskar Blues Double IPA was excellent as well.

On the food side, the Skillet Fried Beer Sausage with Spicy Mustard appetizer was the true stand-out. The VT cheese plate (yes, I'm biased), salami with olives, kale with bacon, toasted almonds with maple syrup and espalette pepper and side of fingerling potatoes were great too. The burger was good, but nothing outstanding. However, when I put some of the bacon from the kale dish on top, it was of course amazing. I tried my colleague's shrimp with bacon grits - that was indeed outstanding.

Sine Irish Pub

Granted, I'm a bit spoiled by the great Irish pubs in New York & Chicago, but that doesn't excuse the weak food and terrible atmosphere. By attempting to be upscale, everything was just a bit off. The fish tacos were actually ok, which was surprising, on a bed of crispy homemade potato chips, but didn't have the freshness that really makes them shine. The waiter was very nice, but the blaring 90s top 40 and overzealous air conditioning made us all eager to get out of there asap.

Horrible service & mediocre food that is a poor attempt at Chinese. They should stick with the Indian and train their staff in the basics.

Small, bland eggs, blander grits, weak crabcake. There was no seasoning in anything. I guess this place might be fine if you want a couple eggs and bacon, but you're better off just doing it at home.

Great little Cambodian sandwich shop. I've only tried the catfish so far, but they have a nice range of pork and other options. Extremely fresh veggies, perfectly crispy bread, amazing value. Not much ambiance, but perfect to grab and take to Union Square.

Basically a Chinatown institution at this point, the friendly staff has been welcoming diners for over 40 years. Don't miss the grilled duck wonton soup with noodles or the Singapore noodles (yellow curry with lots of veggies). The dumplings aren't great, but they're not bad either.

Really incredible food. Think BBQ with some Asian touches thrown in. Great steak, sliders, crispy & tasty sweet potato fries, creamy mac n cheese, ribs that literally melt off the bone, crispy charred grilled salmon, juicy chicken kabobs, cornbread with cream cheese morsels delightfully hidden throughout, crispy unique spring rolls. Also, delicious buttery green beans, rice, bread pudding and an amazing apple crisp too. Damn! Yes, we will be having our rehearsal dinner here.

Note: I only ate here for a catering tasting, but it was the same chef.

Don't be scared off by the macrobiotic or healthy nature of this restaurant. The food is amazing. They have both vegan and seafood dishes, all of which look and smell great. The calamari was perfectly cooked, served with a delicious ginger flavored broth. The sesame crusted tuna special was cooked perfectly and was served over a miso soy sauce. The salmon with ginger soy sauce was phenomenal. Everything is served with tasty, lightly cooked veggies and brown rice. I am satisfied and feel healthy.

The miso ramen with pork was extremely tasty, as were the pork gyoza. For dessert, had the red bean mochi ice cream, which was a perfect finish. Highly recommend this place for a relaxed lunch.

The service was extremely friendly, the food came out fast and you gotta love the bizarre Japanese television montage they have playing on the flat screen.
