I was curiously optimistic when I first heard about this place from a friend of mine who's generally in the know on important issues like these. Good chaat a block and a half from my house? Sounded too good to be true. But like most ethnic cuisine in west philly, this place is the real deal. I tried the bhel puri and the paapri chaat on my first trip and was 1) impressed by the authenticity and great taste of the dishes, and 2) blown away by the fact that this place now exists.

Definitely belongs in the rotation of places you visit every couple of weeks, up there with west philly institutions like Kabobeesh and the Vietnamese market up on 46th. Even if you've never tried chaat (especially if), check this place out!

Pretty good lunch special for the value, but the decor was strange and the food, while solid, was unspectacular. There are better Thai places in the area (Thai Singha Take-Out, for example), but this is a good option if you're looking for a nice cheap d sit-down lunch or dinner.

Just tried the Atlantic- salmon + fresh salsa + lettuce + tomato in a roll, toasted. Incredible- the salmon was cooked just right, and the flavors worked perfectly together. Can't wait to try the Lebanon, which the guy working there also recommended.

I had a really good veggie sandwich here (I forgot the name- it's the one with eggplant in it). I expected it to be oily based on the ciabatta bread and the ingredients (and similar sandwiches I've tried from local delis), but I was pleasantly surprised to find it light and tasty. The highlight of each bite was eggplant stuffed with a bit of feta cheese, wrapped in crunchy bread that just seemed to hold together (unlike other big sandwiches which get annoying because they crumble and fall apart). Just thinking about this sandwich, a steal for $6, makes me want to get another one.. this is definitely a place to throw in your weekly lunch rotation!

UPDATE: Tofu pineapple fried rice-- yes!! Just the sheer spiciness of the special "very spicy" sauce the chef prepared for me (I am now virulently hiccuping; as someone who can't get enough spicy food, I love it) makes me want to upgrade my review to 5 stars.

Good Thai place- I tried tofu drunken noodles and got a solid meal for 7 bucks; however, nothing out of the ordinary from what you'd expect at a decent Thai restaurant. You can't go wrong with this place for lunch, but I would say more like 3.5 stars, at least until I come back and try something else to see what all the rave reviews are about.

I don't want to get into a theological discussion but I'm pretty sure that if heaven exists, these falafels are served there.

Had a tofu bento box with gyoza and brown rice-- it tasted great and was filling for just 8 bucks! The miso dressing on the salad was awesome, and overall the meal had an even, but wide-ranging, balance of flavors (although it was a little too salty- to be expected from such soy sauce-heavy fare, I guess).
Also, the service was good- the guy at the counter was helpful and friendly, and I got my meal in under 5 minutes. Good for lunch once a week.

This place had great falafels, the service was fast and friendly, and it was a decent price for lunch ($8 for falafel sandwich + drink). Planning to go back soon for lunch sometime and try the other items on the menu!
