Three words:

Spicy Chicken Wings.

Go eat them! Now!

As a warning for those who are not big fans of bean sprouts: Remember to tell the waitress not to put them on if you order the chicken katsu curry udon (they might put the sprouts on other udon dishes, but I'm not sure) because you'll end with more bean sprouts than you'd know what to do with. Translation: They give you a whole crap load of bean sprouts on top of the udon. I don't mind bean sprouts perse, but the amount they give you is a little overwhelming to say the least.

Overall though, the food in general was decent enough. I wouldn't say the best, but I left with a full belly and feeling content.

Hank's Haute Dogs

Ate here earlier today for lunch. I had the truffle mac & cheese and my husband had the fat boy. We both shared a regular side of their awesome fries with the curry ketchup. Overall, it was alright. I'm not super crazy about penne pasta (which was used for the truffle mac & cheese), but the sauce was pretty tasty. Nothing too special about the fat boy, but it was still pretty good. I think next time we stop by, we'll try the more 'exotic' type hot dogs. Definitely want to try the rabbit & veal sausage and the duck and foie gras hot dog.

Las Margaritas

While making a stop in Colorado for training, my friends decided to take me here as a going away dinner. While it's not the greatest Mexican food, I was very happy with my meal. I ended up getting the tacos al carnitas, which came with three soft corn tortillas smothered with carnitas, cilantro, some avocado and a side of black beans. The tacos as a whole were really good and the carnitas (though they were just a tad bit dry) were also tasty. I'm really glad that they shredded the meat (how carnitas should be) instead of cubing it like some places do. The black beans were interesting because I've never had them refried beans style and I thought it was pretty good that way.

Originally, that was all I had ordered, but after seeing my friend's side of Spanish rice, I had to order a side for myself. I'm a huge fan of Spanish rice and I thought Las Marg's rice was well cooked and had a really good flavor to it. Two thumbs up on the rice. :)

I guess this place specializes in margaritas, so I got a peacharita with my meal. The flavor was pretty good. You could barely taste the alcohol and I'm pretty picky when it comes to that, but I think there could have been just a little more tequila in the drink.

Overall, I give this place three stars. It was good and while I live miles away from here, I'd definitely make another stop at Las Margaritas if I find myself in the area.

I'm not really impressed with this place at all.  We went here on two occasions and the food wasn't all that great.  The first time I got the carne asada tacos and my husband got the enchiladas (I think chicken?).  The carne asada in my tacos were extremely bland, tough and a little dry.  The enchilada sauce was alright, but the cheese tasted like mozarella cheese.  wtf?  The second time I got the taquitos (I can't remember if they give you 3 or 5) plate with rice and beans and that was alright.  Husband got the carne asada chimichanga and once again, the carne asada was really bland and dry.  The only thing I really liked here was their horchata.  Maybe we're just trying the wrong things, but I don't think we'll be making a stop here again.

Giovanni's Shrimp Truck

I've been eating here since I was in the third grade and I still LOVE it.  I could probably eat here everyday if it wasn't so far and expensive.  Definitely the best shrimp truck on the island (and I think it might even be the first).  I know they're from the same company, but I think the shrimp here is better than the shrimp from the truck in Haleiwa.  I don't know what it is, but it just tastes better to me.

I'm a little sad about the hot and spicy though.  It's not as good as it used to be.  Back in the day the sauce was nice and thick and it was actually as spicy as they advertised (no refunds, lol).  Now it's kinda watered downed and a little too vinegary.  :(  At least the scampi is still SPECFRICKENTACULAR.  I could easily eat two plates by myself (I did it once) and still want more.

Koa Pancake House

Hubby and I went here early one morning after getting off of work.  It was packed and because of that, we kinda had some high hopes for this place (plus all of the good stuff we've been hearing).  I ended up getting the ham, cheese and mushroom omelot with fried rice and the hubby got steak and eggs with fried potatos and a side of fried rice.  On the receipt it said short stack pecan pancakes instead of fried potatos so he had to tell the girl that brought the food out about it.

I was surprised when we finally got all of our food because we got everything we ordered and the short stack of pancakes!  I'm not gonna complain about getting extra food though, especially when you don't have to pay for it because boy was I happy with those pancakes.  I'm not super crazy about pecans, but wow.  I couldn't stop myself from eating those pancakes even after I finished my omelette and half of my fried rice (they give you a lot and I coudln't finish it all).  The omelette was delicious!  It had a good amount of everything in it and was cooked perfectly.  The fried rice was pretty generic for breakfast fried rice, but still good and they give you a ton of it.  Overall, I was really happy with my meal.

A few things we weren't too happy about (mostly my husband) was that the steak wasn't really that good.  It could have used a lot more seasoning and the same goes for the potatos.  Hubby said his scrambled eggs could have used some seasoning as well.

I'm giving this place 4 stars though because the service was good (the cashier girl that took our order was extremely friendly, which is really nice early in the morning when you just got done working a grave yard shift) and those delicious heavenly pancakes!  Nice and fluffy and yummy just like pancakes should be.  I'm getting hungry just thinking about them!

My husband and I both love BBQ and after living in Colorado for a few years, it finally took the opening of Jim 'N Nick's for us to find a place where we could have ourselves some good BBQ.  Everyone kept talking about Brothers, but when we went there, we were a little disappointed.  Jim 'N Nick's definitely has the stuff that we like and you can always smell them smoking their meats early in the morning when you're driving to work.  :D

I'm a little sad that their ribs aren't too great, but the rest of their meats are pretty good.  I really like their chicken, turkey and hot links the best.  They also have some of the best chili I've ever had (I'm from Hawaii so I haven't really tried any other chilis except from Zippy's) and really good corn muffins (with a little cheese in them!).  Other things I like from here are their insanely huge baked potatos stuffed with meat and all the other good stuff, the brunswick stew, catfish, macaroni and cheese, and their BBQ sandwiches (I like chicken and turkey the best).  Did I mention they have really good iced tea and lemonade as well?

Anyway.  I absolutely love this place and would die if they were to ever open up one in Hawaii.  There's only one place you can get BBQ here and while it's pretty good, it's not as good as Jim 'N Nick's.

Griff's Hamburgers

Kinda sad to see this place not getting better reviews.  I'm not super crazy about hamburgers, but I do get a craving for it every once in awhile and whenever I do, my husband takes advantage of it and tries to drag to some place that has burgers.  We were driving around town one day and we stumbled across Griff's and since we like trying new places (and I had a burger craving lol), we went on in.

The burgers aren't the best but they're definitely good and better than Burger King (Sorry Becky S.).  I like the fact that you can get different ingredients in it (like mushrooms or jalapenos) and different cheeses.  They also have really good onion rings and OMG!  Cherry milkshakes!  I've never had a cherry milkshake before, but wow.  Those things are fabulous.  Griff's gets an extra star just for that.  Kinda miss this place now that we're back home in Hawaii.  :(
