Anyfloozie...the food is great. I think this place can get a little overrated at times, but I've honestly never had a bad meal here. It's a nice evening out, grab your girlfriends make a reserv and enjoy! It's also a great date place too...just sayin....really great relaxed but elegant at the same time.
Food...the JB's Fried tempura green beans with this crack dip they serve. Amazing. The lump crab cake is divine as well. Those would prolly be my top two recs for appetizers. Although I have heard the lobster wraps are ridiculous. Dinner. 5 words. Spicy. Crab. Crusted. Sea. Bass. Can't really elaborate, because I don't feel I need to. Moving on! The Lobster A'La Orange. Stop. Really, you don't need to add that Soy Butter with it....oh ALRIGHT, I'll have it. *faint*
The food basically comes a la carte, so you order your entree and then pick some yummy sides to come to the table to share. They are known for their mac and cheese and their tempura onion rings (can you tell I like tempura?). But honestly, they are ALL really good!
Desert...Carmel crème brulee. Do it!
Overall. Great service, great food, hostess can be a snot, just ignore it...you're not there to see her, you're there for the servers and the food. Just enjoy! Remember to get that reservation....although they do have a swanky bar you can make acquaintances with if you don't have one and want to wait it out...I mean, how bad could that be? Honestly....
Cereally...this place will make all your dreams come true.
When you walk into the store, it can be a little overwhelming if you've never been before. However, with Allison's easy guide you can surely find your way to a brighter day!
Tips that make World Market special:
-Great place to buy entertaining chachkis...i.e. serving platters, wine glasses, decorations, even chairs. Some sold in bulk, others sold by pairs.
-Wine. This is the only place in the city that sells the white wine I like (I prefer red, but sometimes a glass of white is nice), and I'm picky. They have wine cases that you can fill with 6 bottles...mix and match or get 6 of the same kind.
-Food Yes! They sell food here! Anything from Organic Oils to trail mix.
-Holiday decor
-Home decor *inhales deep breath* place mats, door mats, bar mats, platting, crating, candlesticks, fiddlesticks, incense, nonsense, pillows, rugs, linens, candles, curtains, buttons, mirrors and furniture (home or office) *exhales breath*
-they even have little impulse buys near the register. I mean who doesn't love a little piece of bubble gum for $.3 that last 4 minutes?
Cons
Lemme think...I got nuthin.
Long story short, its like a Pier 1 on crack.
Someone told me this place was closed and I was sad. However, I drove past the location the other day and saw it was open! HOORAY!
Their portions are huge. We usually get "Big ones"....which is the large portion. When you call to place a to-go or delivery order, they have regular or large portions, but the lady taking your order will say "Big One?" as in the large portion. I wasn't really sure the first time she said it, like she was asking me if I had a big one? Um, not really sure where this is going....anychopstix....
Their broccoli beef is good as is their sweet and sour shrimp. Mmmmm....My BF loves their szechuan chicken and egg rolls (which are girthy if you will...) Their Combination plates are so big you will be begging for Tums afterwards. You have your choice of two entrees with rice and then wonton soup and an egg rolls. Seriously, its sooooo much food. The crab rangoon is sad and lonely...they are practically hollow in the inside...*tear*. I also LOVE their egg drop soup with the enormous bag of fried wontons they give you.
The only thing is, is that these people have no personal interactive skills what so ever. The last time I was in there, I was watching football waiting for my order and when it was ready the guy goes "Hey Lady...". I turned around and said "Who me?"
It's good, not spectacular. It definitely satisfies my need for cheap Chinese food and then some.....

Newflower Farmer's Market
Category: Grocery
It's a perfect little organic market. It's not Whole Foods. It's not a corporate vomit bag. (sorry to graphic?) The produce is amazing and so well priced. It's fresh, smells yummy and all that jazz. They have veggies and fruits that are so hard to find anywhere else....rutabaga, turnips, parsnips. I mean you can find them other places, but at these prices? Organic? Aw yea...
They also...ahem...have a SUPERB Boar's Head counter. Everything and anything. Cheese, meats....mmm. The lady that works that counter gives away free samples like its a clinic giving away free H1N1 vaccines. We wanted to get some chicken, roast beef and cheese and by the time we left the counter, we had eaten dinner. They have fresh baked breads that are out of this world...sweets and even a gluten free section.
They have some prepared meals, my BF likes them. But again, its not Whole Foods. They also (this is totally random) have a fresh salt water taffy stand. I literally stood there like "WTF?" But I have to say, they are delicious! They have ethnic foods I've never seen before or even knew they made. From all regions, Spanish, Chinese, Middle Eastern, African...you name it! You want to have a party...you go here!
We got dinner one night....Potato crusted cod...Die. AMAZING! We baked it for 20 minutes and I'm not kidding, it was like we dined out. We bought it already prepared, all we had to do was bake it.
I can't say enough amazing things about Newflower. I heart it. You should to.

Ziziki's
Categories: Greek, Breakfast & Brunch, Buffets
I have been to this local numerous times. Once for a work dinner and another with some friends. Both times were outstanding! It's a lot smaller on the inside than it looks, but they have a great little private room for parties and the tables are spread enough apart than your not eating off of anyone else's plate (unless you want too).
Start with the Ziziki Bread (their handmade pita bread broiled with cheese, olive oil, garlic and Greek herbs, also served with special Ziziki Sauce) or the Spanakopita!! AHH!! Both are divine...absolutely divine.
I'm not sure what its called, but they have a platter to share (for parties of 4 or less)....it literally has EVERYTHING you could want from a Greek restaurant on one plate and I believe its $49.95 (don't quote me on that). It has lamb, chicken and shrimp souvlaki...mousaka...olives...cheese...crack...pot atoes...paella...more crack...pastichio. *Seizes* Everything is cooked perfectly and IF, I mean IF you have leftovers....no worries, they're still good.
They have a Sunday brunch that I'm dying to try. It's $21.95 and comes with complimentary champagne.
I only dedcuted one star, cause the last time I was there I felt rushed and they weren't even that busy. We were just enjoying ourselves drinking wine and being fabulous. Then another time when I paid in cash, she never came back with change. I mean...she owed me $40 in change...she wishes I gave her that high of a tip! When I asked her about it, she goes "Oh, I gave it back to you" Uh, no sweetie ya didn't. She apologized and was back promptly with mu change. No arguments and quick to recover. Good girl. That's really all, it has nothing to do with the food, that part is outstanding! Just the servers need to be more patient and attentive. Other than that little episode...DEF recommendation.
I love this place. Period. Zeus himself would be proud.
BF: "What do you have on tap?"
Waitress: "Did you look at the menu, cause they're listed there."
HA! YES! I like her! She said it with a smile on her face, which made it even more hilarious. It was right before Halloween so during our patio happy hour the owner (I think) and his son were changing the light bulbs from Red to Orange. Totally fun and spunky! Awesome patio for enjoying a lovely happy hour. By the time we left (3 hrs later) the place was packed.
Thank you Londoner for your amazing smart ass waitress and the great drinks! See you next time!
I have been going to the same hairstylist since I was 10. Mmmhmm. 10 years old. In college I never got my hair done, I got it done when I came home. I never cheated. I'm a one man woman.
So what made me change my mind? Stray away? Change teams? Well...I wanted something different and I was tired of getting the same ole' haircut. I wanted someone to take a chance and make me smile and LOVE my hair.
After all the INCREDIBLE reviews at Live Hair Group, I was like...well I guess now's as good as time as any! I made my appt and was a little nervous Nellie. Really, I felt like I was cheating.
My appointment was at 5:30. I showed up early, because of course traffic wasn't as bad as it was supposed to be. I got there at 5pm and said I would be happy to wait until my time. They got me back and I spoke with Robert about what I wanted, told him my issues...my crazy hair. He played with my hair looking deep in thought for about 10 minutes, then he disappeared to help others. I'm not going to talk about the little things (like my waiting time...etc) because it honestly has nothing to do with my hair or the greatness of the people in this salon! Take it in stride...
At 6pm, the Fabulousness that is Lynn came by and said "HI! I'll be doing your base color...let's get started." Sweet. Let's rock! We chatted about my crazy hair and at one point Robert came over and said "Really lap it on, she's got a lot." Lynn replied with a hilarious (but adoring) smirk "Thanks, I got it." The point is, is that even though there were so many other people in the shop, Robert still made a point to come over and make sure everything was kosher. I had no doubt, Lynn had it under control.
So after waiting for the color to seep in, I'm taken back to a table for Lynn to wash my mane. They have these tables where you lay flat on your back and lay your head on this thingy...whatever. It's to make sure no water goes down your back. Anyhoozie...when I lay down she goes "Now you can tell everyone Robert got you flat on your back." SHAZAAAM! Damn Lynn...you be crackin jokes? I almost died. Hilarious.
After my wash I'm sitting in a chair and Lynn goes to work drying. Robert comes over when he's done with his appointment, grabs a hair dryer and starts at it as well. I just have to say that having two people blow dry my hair was strangely erotic. I'd love to experience that again...and again.
Hair dried, it was now time for Robert to go to work. He snipped, he studied...we laughed about the old movie playing on the TV in the background....he snipped some more, straightened, curled, snipped...VOILA! He turned me around and I almost fell off my chair! Never in my life have I ever had a hair cut that I was obsessed with. I told him "You wish I could do this at home." He laughed and said, "you can...here's how" and gave me directions. He also said they style hair so if I wanted it done, I could come in with dry clean hair and they could style it for me. Done and done. Robert was so down to earth, not snobby high end hair dressers like some. Really cool and laid back and totally focused on the task at hand.
On my way out as I was paying Janna pulls up my file and goes "OMG you're Kristie's friend! From Yelp!" (Thanks Krisite...*she knew how nervous I was...) I just laughed and said, "Yep, that's me." She then went into this tirade about how they don't treat anyone different, but it was good to know I was there and I hope I enjoyed my experience. The thing I liked, was that they had no idea I was there because of Yelp until checkout. I absolutely agreed and said how happy I was with the work done. Bought some products, they gave me some free samples and I left.
I felt like crying when I left. Like I should give them my address and tell them "DON'T FORGET TO WRITE!" I'm so glad I got a chance to go here and LHG was able to participate in Hawt on Yelp. It's a great event and I definitely recommend people trying new places...you never know!
Robert, Lynn and Janna. Thank you so much for my amazing hair. It was lovely to experience something outside my comfort zone and you did everything to make me feel at home. You're gonna wish you never told me about styling...I'm gonna be your worst nightmare!
Now look, i've certainly gotten carried away....sheesh.
Porta Di Roma. Right in the center of downtown. First recommendation. Sit in the front window...MOST excellent people watching.
We went on a Saturday night and it was not crowded at all. It might have had something to do with the entire restaurant being under somewhat of a horror movie curtain. Thick matte clear curtain blowing casually, seriously I thought Michael Myers himself was going to come out with an enormous knife and carve us like turkeys. I digress...
I have heard from people this is a big time lunch place for the workers down there. I've also heard the pizza is good, but alas...I did not have. We started with the Calamari which was good. Nothing exceptional or exciting, really greasy. We both had side salads which consisted of lettuce and dressing. Really original. Oh and BF got the Caesar salad for $1.99 more....the only difference was his had Caesar dressing. Again...lettuce and dressing. Yes, side salad. I mean not even those little already julienne carrots or bagged cabbage?!? Let down #1.
For our main courses I had the chicken sauteed with garlic, spinach in a white wine cream sauce and mozzarella. Delicious! However...EXTREMELY RICH. I only ate half and took the rest home. BF had the Seafood Ravioli which he loved!!
Ooooh I forgot to mention the best part...NEVER-ENDING, orgasm inducing Garlic Bread!! Uh-huh. Love me, smear it all over my body and talk dirty to me all night long.
Waitress was as cute as a button and very sweet. She prolly apologized for the scary atmosphere about 3,000 times. Good drinks, cheap bottles of yummy wine and a hilarious bar tender!! We will definitely be back, when construction is done!

This theater is my home to midnight movie openings, large crowds, drinking in the parking lot, I mean...finding a good parking space, and not only a concession stand but a full on "restaurant" in it. I have witnessed everything from two girls arguing who was going to carry in an enormously obnoxious ice cream sundae in a waffle bowl to teenage children (and their mothers) screaming out for Edward Cullen. All in good fun I remind myself.
The theaters are clean and the staff is there to accommodate. I mean they are movie theater staff, and they work ridiculous hours...how friendly do you think they are to begin with? Pissed off at the world, that's what.
It always seems very organized (even for the midnight movies), 17 large screens and the IMAX attached next door. I do love the IMAX, but be forewarned, when you go see an IMAX movie...especially on opening weekend, get there AT LEAST an hour and a half early. I'm not kidding. You'll thank me. We saw the Dark Knight at the IMAX...arrived 1 1/2 hrs before the show, and I feel we got the last good seats in there. If you get a bad spot at the IMAX...you can kiss your equilibrium goodbye.
Remember, no talking while the hotdog is singing. Turn off all cellular electronics and pagers. Enjoy the show!
