While waiting for a friend to arrive, I stood outside of Nita Nita looking in with a suspecting eye. With nary a patron munching on small plates of delicious things, my first instinct was to walk away.
In the pursuit of new experiences we decided to enter the small establishment. Inside the decor is minimal, yet the ambiance is comfortably set by table top candles and hanging lights that cast warm tones beaming off the surface of the large wooden bar. The high tables and chairs are well spaced and add to the causal atmosphere typical of a tapas bar. Overall Nita Nita is understated and has a very middle of the week, relaxed, good conversation vibe.
The Food:
I'll cut to the chase. The food was disappointing and uninspired. I agree with mike b. on his comments about the menu. Antonio Banderas would be ashamed. I can honestly say that there wasn't anything on the menu that was more than ordinary and what sounded interesting turned out to be interesting in the bad way.
Lets get real, who thought having pepperoni pizza at a Spanish tapas place in Brooklyn NY was a good idea? To top it off, they had no sangria! I was sooo wanting that when we decided to go. That put a black mark on my experience right away.
My Recommendation:
Go to Nita Nita for a drink and some relaxed conversation with friends is fine and might even be enjoyable. I did like that they had some interesting beers, but don't go for the food, you'll only end up getting a real slice of pepperoni pizza later anyway.
