Stopped in at the Zzyzx Gallery and all I can say is WOW - there is nothing like this in the Downtown Art Gallery area and it is a refreshing addition to the traditional galleries in the area.

Think Art Gallery meets Earth Sciences - this is a perfect melding of creativity and the "green" thinking that is capturing every aspect of our lives today.

The current show is  - PARAGENESIS

Paragenesis is the order in which closely associated minerals have formed in rocks, veins, and deposits. For their Grand Opening installation there was a selection of pieces by noted commercial illustrators and photographers that specialize in potraying minerals and wild animals in nature.

Artists in this exhibit are Frederick Wilda, Bruce Graber, Jeff Scovil,
Chris Hughes and Brandy Naugle. ..featuring a special showing of natural crystalized mineral specimens by PuTzu, owner of The Uncarved Block Gallery in Sebastopol, California.

Right now they stock trout weekly as the weather gets hotter it is a catfish haven!

The best deal is their overnighter 24 hr Fishing and camping - a family of four fishes and camps overnight for about $50  - cheap night out!

Having moved to the OC from LA/SFV the thing I missed most was a good deli!!!   FOUND!!!

I love this place - the family feel of it - the great food - the coffe shop atmosphere.

The workers are helpful when making decisions and offer tips to make your version of a deli favorite better!

I will be back...

This is the saddest thing about this sudden heat wave - less trips to my favorite winter restaurant.

Do you have a cold?  this is the chicken soup you need - the warm creamy goodness soothes your dry scratchy throat while the chicken does it's job building your immune system!

Service: this is old school mom & pop - efficient - not always friendly

Food: amazingly yummy stuff - my personal favs are the Chicken Noodle Soup and the Chicken Pot Pie!!!    Oh - did I mention the home baked dessert goodness!!!!

Dreaming of a cold-snap!!!  LOL

The idea of Drive Thru sushi had me a bit skeptical - but this little gem was one surprise after another...

Service - who would think was not only efficient but friendly and fun

Food - the typical old school rolls were wonderful - some of the freshest tuna I've ever had - the Tempura was flaky and light - but the real treat was their house specials!

The taste I can't forget - try the Obama Roll - seriously amazing!!!!
