sushi is good, if a bit expensive (but not that bad).  atmosphere is awesome, particularly if you enjoy anime -- which i do.  for those who aren't anime fans, it's probably a nice place to go with good sushi at not an unreasonable price.

however, for those of us who are anime-otaku -- it's literally a sushi & anime porn fest-o-rama.  i find myself forgetting that my friends are talking, and get sucked into watching mind-blowing anime on multiple screens, while gorging on sushi and occasionally checking out the awesome design & architecture in the restaurant.  (oh & the rest of the eye-candy in the place ain't bad either).

there may be better sushi in SF, but there isn't a better visual experience anywhere else in town, except perhaps the local strip clubs.

only open for lunch, but the green chili soup is absolutely awesome :)

great coffee, food looks yummy too.  very hard to find, but probably good since it wouldn't seat more than 20 inside.  small outdoor area with play area for kids + toys.  looks very relaxing :)

only bummer, no wireless :(

my standards for sushi are high, but higuma rates a solid 4 stars.  there are plenty of great sushi restaurants in downtown san mateo, but they tend to be harder to find in the redwood city area.  this one seems to be the best around RWC.

always one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city...have gone there numerous times since they opened 15 years ago, and hardly ever disappointed.

the muffins & breads produced by the in-restaurant bakery are fresh & delicious, and their applesauce & ollaliberry jams are terrific (ask for extra jam to take home, it's worth it).

on the weekends it can get busy, but it's worth the wait.  put your name on the list, and drop by the CrossRoads cafe across the plaza & read a book or checkout some art while you wait to be called.

Very good food, reasonable prices.  open late on fri/sat (til 1:30am) + live band those nights. also the outside hookah bar is great on warm summer evenings...

service can occasionally be spotty, but set your expectations and you'll have a great time.

great food, cheap.  parking can be a pain tho.
