Poverty Bay Coffee Company

I stopped by late afternoon as a convenient place to meet with some coworkers and a few clients. I've heard about Poverty Bay Coffee but I've never been here before. I'm glad we did, they make a great cup of coffee that's quite different than what you find elsewhere. Maybe it's the natural shade grown beans or the way they roast it or both, but I really enjoyed it.

I was impressed by their menu although I didn't have food this day. But, I was impressed how my guests were enjoying what they ordered. Also, the space is larger than I thought. They have a wine bar with another sitting area off to the right when you walk through the main door. It offers a very comfy area for getting together.

So kudo's for the coffee. I enjoyed the ambiance and especially the service. What a great staff! I'm giving it a 4 only because I haven't tried the food. I'll be back.

This place is a real find! Once again I'm off to a lunch with coworkers, "Have you been to Cat Sang?" Nope, I haven't... Oh my, what a wonderful lunch (and as it turned out a take home dinner too!).

A wonderful unassuming place on Benson Highway in the Panther Lake neighborhood on Easthill Kent, Washington. I had the charbroiled chicken, spring roll, and rice. When it showed up I thought it was a big pork chop and almost asked if they'd gotten my order confused.

The chicken was delicious and the meal more than I could eat in one sitting. The chicken was sliced like one large thin steak and I wish I had the recipe for the way they spice it. Yum! Spring roll was great with a bit of salad and artistically carved carrot and cucumber and I love the sauces and the soup that goes with it.

The service was great, authentic, and genuine. I can't believe the three of us had such a wonderful meal and we all had to take away half of it as leftovers. In true Vietnamese style, I think we could have stayed there until closing time. They were very attentive but never intrusive, we were well taken care of, yet left to enjoy our time together and were made to feel very welcome and never rushed. I highly recommend this place!

I had a working lunch with my co-worker Jill. She needed to be in Covington so she asked me if I had ever eaten at Mizu Japanese Steakhouse. No I hadn't. I don't get out to this part of the county very often.

What a delight! It's a roomy comfortable place with a modern touch. I love the colors and lighting. We decided on the hibachi new york steak with vegetables and fried rice. Chef Roy took great care of us. He has a warm sincere smile and an engaging soft spoken charm. It was more than fun to banter small talk with him while he artfully created our meal before us.

Hands down, the best steak I've had in a long time. Everything was done just right including the vegetables and I loved the inclusion of fresh squash. Great suggestion Jill and thanks for a fabulous lunch. I'll be back again and next time I'll have to try the seafood!

About 150 of us were here April 3 - 5, 2012 for a regional sales conference with First American Title. What a wonderful cozy place! The rooms were very nice and comfortable and the lodge has all kinds of great spaces, shops, a bar, even a library. The food and service was outstanding. The staff was absolutely wonderful and we all felt very well taken care of.

I love the grounds and the views of the mountains and the Columbia River are stunning. My only complaint (and no fault of Skamania Lodge) was the weather. It rained all the way there and back. But, that didn't dampen our spirits and we had 3 great days here.

I'd love to come back here during the summer and enjoy exploring the area.

What all dad's worry about when their daughter's car breaks down. They're either stranded or held hostage by the auto repair service. I called the Service Manager, Martin, to find out what the damage was going to be and he explained everything in detail. I appreciated his remarkable customer service.

We took care of all the necessary stuff and they also made a list of things that should be looked at later, but were not urgent. I was impressed, we got her 1990 Toyota Celica back on the road by day's end and the cost was exactly what was quoted that morning. Thanks for taking good care of us.

Hey, it's Fish Taco Tuesday! I'm a long time resident of the area, I live in Renton, but I don't get down to Kent Easthill very often. Now my home office is just a few blocks away from Julianito's and it's our office tradition every Tuesday to get Fish Taco's and I'm really enjoying them. They're very fresh, good portions, and I love their green taco sauce. Looking over the other reviews it sounds like I'd better try the carne asada fries real soon. I'm giving it a 4 star today because I want to try more of what's on the menu.

Linda's Barber Shop

I love this place! They are always so accommodating. I've been in several times now this year and they may not remember my name, but they do remember my haircut, "Number 4? Same as usual?" I surprised them yesterday, Saturday. "No, I want to grow it out. How about a trim?" No problem...

Linda's is located at an old old downtown (forever) Renton Barber Shop. My Dad used to bring me here as a kid. It's not a Yuppie kind of upscale Barber Shop. The sign outside reads, "Haircut, $8."

I get a haircut that's just as good as the one I use to pay $27 for... Even with a royal tip, I'm still saving a lot of money. I love the fact that by default, you get the good old fashioned straight razor neck trim.

I'm a big pizza a fan. I was here for a business function with some clients in the banquet room. There were about 10 large pizzas ordered of different types. I'm glad the slices were cut thin because this pizza is thick with toppings. Pineapple is always one of my favorites, but I couldn't stop there and tried 3 more. I thought it was good stuff.

The staff was great. It was lunch time and the place was packed. The pizzas were cooked right on and the topping ingredients were fresh and bountiful. Great experience, really good pizza.

I give it a 4 because this is my first time here and everything was already ordered. But, it was delightful and a great experience. Alfy, you did a great job. Thanks...

I was here the other day with a friend for breakfast. We opted for the buffet and I thought it was great... scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, orange juice and a whole lot more I never got to and all for $12.99. That seemed a little high at first because I'm not a big breakfast eater, but when you factor in the all you can eat plus your coffee, orange juice, and other sides, it was a good deal. It's a regular place, roomy and comfortable and I've been there several times for business meetings and get together's in the morning. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Renton Farmers Market

Every Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, June through September at the Piazza in downtown Renton. This year the market is celebrating it's 10th year anniversary and as we approach mid August, this is a great time to enjoy everything grown local.

There are approximately 50 vendors with fresh berries, fruits, and vegetables, not to mention freshly cut flower bouquets, herbs, eggs, baked goods, and more. It's a great time and place to mingle with locals, snack on great area created treats and listen to some live music.

I've enjoyed the Renton Farmers Market since it began. It reminds me of growing up here and foraging through Grandpa's garden all summer long! And, as I remember those days that seem long ago sometimes, it is still today a wonderfully mixed bag of different ethnicity's who share their passion for all things that come from the rich soil we are blessed to have here in the Pacific Northwest.

This is the first year that the market has been extended. Now you can also attend the market on Sunday's at the Valley Medical Center from Noon to 4:00 pm. Both are not the world's biggest farmer's markets, they're what's happening in our own neighborhood. Find out what's wonderful, fresh, locally grown, and good to eat from our own little corner of the world.

This is a great tradition and worth checking out. You'll find me stopping by after work most Tuesday's after work @ 6:00 pm.
