Peter Luger Steak House

Category: Steakhouses

If you like steak well-done, you probably shouldn't eat here and you're probably the punk that gave Peter Luger less than 4 stars.

However, if you like steak rare and enjoy no-nonsense service, then Peter Luger's is for you. I came with three meat-lovers and we had a hell of a time eating the Steak for 3, plus creamed spinach, and tomato/onion. Plus bread. Talk about food coma! Let this be a warning for you - definitely share steak if you can and aren't a huge eater. Their cuts for the steak for 3 (if you're a group of 4), is going to be better than the individual cut steaks. I'm glad our waiter recommended that.

As you probably can guess from other reviews, getting an onion is literally just an onion. Maybe the final tip I'll give is, if you like medium-rare steak, take most of the pieces you'd want off the plate quickly. It's still very hot and may continue to cook your meat beyond what you want.

All I have to say is...OVERRATED.

This store is huge, it's well lit, and there's a bunch of hip music making you feel very trendy shopping here.

Despite all of this, this import-brand just looks cheap and the prices are somewhere between high and affordable fashion. It's like a more expensive H&M, without any discernible improvement in quality. I get that this store probably pushed through a ton of inventory of a day, but stacks upon stacks of shirts or ties looks cheap for me, and all of the plastic wrap around their tees makes it feel mass-produced, thus not justifying the price.

I guess it's a Japanese thing that I won't get. But guess what, I'm Japanese too! Jokes on you, the reader, for reading all of this!

I escaped St. Louis for a better education, job, and food on the West Coast...but I gotta say, niche does it right and gives SF/NYC restaurants a run for the money! Well done!

Gerard Craft has done an excellent job putting together an exquisite menu that is great for anyone into haute cuisine. Their menu changes frequently, but when I went I remember having a wonderful scallop appetizer with shiitake mushrooms and cocoa nib on the side. Chocolate and mushrooms and seafood? I wouldn't have excepted to see the pairing but it was fantastic!

For the main course, I enjoyed beef with onions, including a delicious candied onion.

5 stars for presentation. 5 stars for taste. 5 stars for having my parents pay! I'll have to convince them to go back next time I'm in town.

Gotta support of National Park Service! I went on a cloudy day and business was slow, so we had a private tour of Lincoln's home with the park ranger. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out some nice details about the home that wouldn't have been apparent if we just walked through ourselves.

Support your National Park Service and visit places like this!!

I've been to many museums around the world, but I gotta say, they have invested quite a bit of money into this museum. It's new, well maintained, and brings the days of Lincoln to life.

As a history major in college, I felt like the museum provided a nice balance between kid-friendly exhibits and narratives that really get into the issues Lincoln confronted (slavery, Civil War, etc). There's some of the anamitronics here, but I didn't feel it was too hokey. Perhaps the closest was during the movie screening of Lincoln's life. The seats shake, there's strobe lights, and cannons fire smoke from the sides of the theater. If there weren't just 5 people in the 100+ person theater, I wouldn't have laughed. Definitely something for all of the schoolkids to enjoy.

Anyway, if you're ever in Springfield (if you've come across this review, lucky you), definitely check it out. You'll learn a bunch!

Photoworks Interactive provided a photo booth at our August 2011 wedding in Los Altos. We actually saw them setting up for another wedding at the museum when we were choosing our reception venue. So, they were familiar with the location (knew where to set up a table, power supply, etc), which made us a bit more confident that they knew what they were doing.

The booth came with two attendants who help put together a wonderful scrapbook of photos taken throughout the night. I think the guys doing this actually like their job, because they aggressively get photos from all of the guests and make sure they're in the book. My only complaint is that we were told all guests would get to keep a copy of their photos as well as get one in the book. Instead, many left empty-handed when the attendants took their photos. I guess for two people, it's easy to split the photos between the books and the couple, but it's harder when 3-8 people are cramming in the booth. If I did it again, I would check to see if they can customize how many copies of the photos the printer spits out.

Ahead of time, Photoworks contacted us to choose a custom logo for our photos. They're professional, have a backup booth in case their main one breaks down, and are responsive on emails as your big day nears. I'd recommend them if you want a fun photo booth at your wedding!

Kolina T. and I hired KYanni Productions to DJ our wedding in August 2011. Please read my wife's review for all of the details. From the brides perspective, Khader and Hanna are everything you want. On time, organized, and professional.

From a groom's perspective. Well, they know what they're doing, the price is right, and they play great music! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Kyanni Productions for your Bay Area wedding.

Mediocre given that this airport is beyond capacity and has crappy weather making for terrible connections and lots of delays in the winter.

Despite this, some parts of the airport are nice. Like when you have to connect between terminals and go underground and see lots of neon lights. Or if you get stuck overnight they'll put out some cots. Besides this, I just connect through here and it's tolerable.

+100 for a fast moving McDonald's around the airport. My travel is fueled on big macs.

If you're thinking about a great Kaiseki restaurant and want to impressive a significant other / your friends, look no further. Just a few tips to make it worth it:

- Reservations are 30 days in advance and fill up fast. You probably won't get your first choice unless you've synced your phone with the atomic clock and dial on the exact second you're able to make a reservation.

- The Kaiseki meal changes monthly. You can check the website for what you're probably going to get.

- The Sake samplers are fantastic. They're served in these unique Japanese made glasses that are 0.04 inches thick. They fit perfectly in your hand and I thought that was pretty cool.

- The Husband and Wife team do a great job with your meal. Each dish was fantastic and the presentation was picture worthy. Well worth the cost.
