Nick's Pizza

Nick's is simply marvelous, it was my first experience with local New York pizza and it has yet to be dethroned! The prosciutto was thinly sliced pieces of heaven interwoven with generous leafy basil on a cloud of mozzarella through which slightly sweet tomato sauce peeked all on top of a lightly crispy chewy perfectly charred crust. In short: amazing.

I would have given five stars except the delivery took 45 mins, however it was a yucky rainy night and the food was still hot.

With that exception the food was great, we had naan, chicken tiki masala and the lamb korma which were both very well spiced and nicely portioned. I was a little under-whelmed by the samosas, a little too much fried crunch and not enough filling but still tasty. FYI rice is not included with the entrees but the side order is generous.

I will be calling again!

Andre's Cafe & European Bakery

Whenever I have a guest in town we have to go to Andre's for coffee and pastries. It has been mentioned the room is very narrow but has a nice atmosphere with exposed brick, copper embellished ceiling and all the Hungarian knickknacks you've been dreaming of. It is very warm and charming. The staff has always been attentive, at least in the mornings.

I recommend the danish, strudel, croissants and of course the Linzer cookies. A little pricey but worth it for authenticity!

Repeat after me: Unlimited Champagne and Mimosa Brunch.

UNLIMITED Champagne and Mimosa Brunch!

Sure its the cheap stuff but a big breakfast burrito, a pitcher of mimosas and a couple of friends makes for a fine time. Be forewarned, after a tasty meal and a few rounds you are likely to crawl home and go back to bed but that's why it is the weekend, right?
