I went back recently for my office Christmas party and this place is better than I remember. Beautiful patio area, new full bar and great service! The braised short ribs were amazing too! I heard they have awesome happy hour. I must go back and try it.

Come for the eye candy...um...actuall y I was told to say that by Mark (you conceited guy...you~!)...check this place out...ask for Mark or Sean...tell them you're from Yelp...they'll treat you right. They're the new owners of this cozy little establishment. They got a new chef and renovated the place.

There is no reason for me to give this place anything less then 5 stars. I mean...I've gotten lunch delivered to my work from here, I've gone to the soft opening for the neighborhood and dined in for lunch too. All 3 experiences were great. The delivery came fast while the food was still piping hot. I had the caprese panini with a side salad. It was very good.

Hehe...the soft opening was awesome. Lots of free wine, beer and appetizers. I'll just say...free booze is dangerous. I got to try a little bit of everything on the menu along with my many glasses of wine. Everything was wonderful...except for the fried calamari which during my third time trying this place out came back with a vengeance at my remark of it being oily and soggy during the soft opening (due to it being served buffet style).

During lunch, I tried the fried calamari again (served fresh) and it was absolutely fabulous. It was not your typical fried calamari...these were actual strips of calamari steaks...not those little tiny calamaris that most places use. It was lightly battered and crisp to perfection. I was glad I gave the calamari a second whirl. I also had the rigatoni bolognese which was delicious. I must say it was one of the best bolognese sauce I've ever tried. I think the secret is a touch of the truffle oil they put in. Mmmmm...

Service was fantastic. Our server was very delightful and attentive. I will probably be frequenting this place for lunch. I know Judy W. won't mind coming with me, ey Jude??

Edit 4/30/08: I had lunch here again yesterday and tried their calamari. Crispy outside, tender calamari inside, seasoned to perfection and served piping hot with marinara and a spicy mayo concoction. It was so good that it was finished within 10 minutes by 2 girls.

On a positive note...the decor and ambiance was very nice. Service was great.

But this place is a major sushi no-no. Our sushi was cut as if a brand new sushi school student had cut it. It was terrible. And Sushi Roku is not cheap. We expected more from them than poorly cut sushi. Not just that, some of the items we ordered were not available. I would not recommend or return to this establishment.

This is a great little Italian restaurant. A hidden gem on 3rd Street.  An authentic place with amazing food. The bread starter was fresh and delicious. Make sure to get a ravioli of some sort here. They are amazing.

Food was great but service was mediocre hence the four stars.

Absolutely loved this place.

Food was amazing. (Get the Portobello mushroom fries).
Service was nice.
Ambiance was trendy chic.

They have the cutest window displays of their boxes and desserts.

I would definitely go again when its not too busy. Wait was long and it was very loud but it was worth it.

I would definitely dine here again.

We went for DineLA because it seemed like a good deal. And because it's a trendy hotspot and we wanted to be cool.

Taste wise...food was pretty good but it came out on a tray...kind of reminded me of a bento box. I thought this was supposed to be an upscale restaurant. Well...little did we know...the worst was yet to come.

Ready for this??

They gave us the pre-packaged mochi ice cream you buy at the grocery store as our dessert. Wow.

I felt they kinda got lazy with the DineLA promotion. We were definitely not cool being at this hotspot. We got punked.

The Tar Pit is a hip and trendy spot with a beautiful, sophisticated decor.

We made it just in time for Happy Hour. I ordered the Moscow Mule which was delicious. I can't quite remember what was in it but it was good. The fries with garlic aioli was delicious. Goat cheese with fig and crostinis was mediocre and so was their mini mac and cheese.

Steak Diane, Chicken a la King, Fried Oysters, Linguini with Clams were all disappointing. Especially the Chicken a la King.

This place is great for Happy Hour or late night drinks but as a restaurant, it needs some work.

Kelly Yeom is an amazing...let me repeat...AMAZING...makeup artist.

She performs miracles~!

She did my makeup on a number of occasions...a casual photo shoot, a studio photo shoot, wedding day makeup as a bride and wedding day makeup as a bridesmaid. Each time my makeup was flawless and beautiful. She's very meticulous so she will make sure that every blemish is covered.

As a bride or even as a bridesmaid...your skin gets very stressed out so blemishes and uneven skin tone can happen. Kelly will make sure to help you look perfect for your big day.

When everyone compliments you on your makeup and how beautiful you look...you know your makeup artist did an amazing job.

Thank you Kelly~!!

Update - 9/3/2010
Okay so...I went back because the management invited me back.

The management seems to take yelp reviews very seriously which is nice. It shows they care about their business and its patrons.

On a positive note, I still love the decor and ambiance. I still love the coffee and desserts. I still love the fact that they use eco-friendly to-go supplies.

As for the food, I had the pastrami wrap which was pretty good but a bit too salty. My lunch companions had the Greco burger and the lobster and crab sandwich. I'm not a big fan of lamb so the Greco burger was not my favorite. The lobster and crab sandwich was okay but by unanimous decision, my pastrami wrap was the winner that day.

I definitely appreciated the invitation back and enjoyed this place more the 4th time around.

I will try this place again for breakfast and update then. :)

I've been here probably...3 times now.

I've decided it's a great place for coffee and dessert but not for a meal. Also, I don't really like places where I order at the counter. Yes...I'm kind of lazy like that.

As for the food...I would have to say this place has one of the worst New England Clam Chowder soup I've ever had. The worst. Gross. Italy's Best sandwich was just okay. Lobster Cobb was probably the best dish out of the three but still just okay. The red velvet cake was delicious and so was the coffee.

I like the fact that they use eco-friendly to-go supplies, and I love the decor. It's a cute date place. But just for dessert and coffee. Not to eat a meal.
