Pat's King of Steaks

I am sad to say I was completely underwhelmed by the supposed originator of the cheesesteak.  The employees were too interested in their own conversation about the bars they had hit the night before to pay me any mind.  The cheese was so generic to almost be insulting and the steak was anything but lean.

I felt an obligation to try a cheesesteak from here so long as I was in town, and I can honestly say my visit to Philadelphia would have been better had I skipped this bland, unexciting stop for dining.

I loved this place.  It's small, personable, relatively fast and reasonably priced.  I would have never found this place if it hadn't been for the friend I was visiting, and of all the cheesesteaks she took me for during my visit, this was easily my favorite ... even if I did burn the roof of my mouth and a spot on my lip.

Most orders should be to go, and sitting inside is a chore, but outside was pleasant even in late Sept.

It's a Cracker Barrel ... they are consistent if nothing else.  My waitress was a bit odd as I was her only table so she decided it would be fun to just chit chat with me.  As I was dining alone it made eating a bit awkward.

Eggs were a tad greasier than usual, but still always a meal I look forward to.

Extremely disappointing is about the only way to describe my experience at this location.

While our waiter was nice enough, the food was just not up to par.  My gumbo was pretty bland and my friend's Lobster Roll had so much shell in it that it was virtually inedible.  What she did get down, which was about 30 percent, ended up leaving her with an upset stomach for the rest of the day.

They took the Lobster Roll off our bill, but no real apology was offered, nor did a manager come by to discuss it with us.  I don't expect any manager at a restaurant to kiss up to me, but when a sandwich is that wrong, you would think they would at least want to see what they could do to appease you.

I really regrettable dining experience.

I've only started using Dr. Borrok within the past year, and have have seen him for two check-ups now.  He's personable, quick and doesn't seem to have a desire to suggest unnecessary procedures (the reason I left my last dentist).

His pricing seems fair, and he has struck me as very professional thus far.

Napoli's Italian Restaurant

I've eaten at Napoli's a few times now, the latest being a large lunch group on June 10th.  While the food isn't horrible, it is just "food".  The meals are totally unremarkable and forgettable.  This isn't to say that they're bad, I've always finished my meal, but by the time I get out to my car, I've completely forgotten about it.

Service is a bit hit or miss, with some waiters making you think you have just insulted them by asking for a coffee refill.  (although their coffee is horrible, and clearly comes in a red tub from the grocery store)

Pricing is okay, neither being expensive or cheap.

Sadly there is nothing remarkable about this place, but if you are desperate for Italian, you might as well visit it.

Filippo Restaurant

Went there as it was the closest Italian restaurant to my hotel in Charlestown.  Excellent food, although the service was a little slow.  (In defense of the waitress, I learned it was only her sixth day, and she was older, so that lightened my opinion of her quite a bit)

I ordered the Braciolettine di Vitello al limone, a veal dish stuffed with prosciutto in a lemon sauce, and it was to die for.

In general the atmosphere a bit dingy, the staff a bit brusk, but worth it for the excellent food I had.
