I've been here a few times, most of the time a little tipsy, but once I came here completely sober and developed a new outlook on this place.
I took my sister here for her birthday and couldn't even talk to her because the sound in this place resonates so loudly. The whole time was spent leaning over and literally yelling in her face.
As for the sushi, it was ok. I'm not into eating fried sushi rolls. I love my seafood fresh and done right, the way it should be here in the northwest.
Go here if you don't mind all the unnecessaries on your sushi. For example: cream cheese, weird sauces, fried rolls, etc.

Voula's Offshore Cafe
Category: Breakfast & Brunch
Neighborhood: University District
I love the salmon scrambled eggs, its a must have.
Their dishes also come with toast and a heaping portion of hash.
And best of all, you can see them make your food right in front of you while you watch. The guy that usually is in charge of the hash browns will always turn around, say hi, and ask you how you're doing. You never get that kind of treatment at beths. They aren't even comparable.
I highly recommend people go here if they want to be around a friendly and diverse crowd with great food.

Beth's Cafe

This place is gross, talk about myocardial infarction.
The food is so greasy you can probably see your own reflection on the omelet.
BUT I do admit, Beth's brings back feelings of pure nostalgia. Fun drunken nights with friends and good company.
The only reason why I would suggest going here over Voula's or Geraldine's Counter is so you can sit and color with your friends or attempt to see which one of your buddies can eat a 12 egg omelet without puking.

OMG!
Sometimes on the weekends my cravings are so bad, my boyfriend and I will stay up in bed and talk about unleashing our inner fat kid and getting one.
We always stop ourselves though, but that just shows you how addicting and delicious they are.
Cream cheese+good quality dog+generous toppings+ the company of belligerent people= a good time
However, this place has one of the best freaking tacos I've ever had.
They make everything to order and best of all, they have radishes and picked carrots ready for you to eat with your meal.
If I think about this place long enough I'll get the heeby jeebies because, lets face it-its filthy!
BUT! The tacos are so good, I'll risk the chance of being whistled at and sit my high maintenance little butt on the stools eat until I implode.
Cons:
-Dirty
-Frigid
-Crowded
Pros:
-Orgasmic food
Unfortunately, the cons are what lead to my 3 star rating, if this place were clean and comfortable I would give it 4 stars.
So food= 3 stars because it on the soggy side. They also have chicken/soup bowls/ and shrimp cocktails if anyone with you doesn't want fish and chips.
Experience=4 stars because you can't beat the view of Seattle
The perfect time to visit is when it starts getting sunny. I would suggest ordering the fish and chips to go, sit on the beach with friends, and enjoy the view.
You can't go wrong with this establishment. It is always consistently mediocre but draws in crowds that have been going there since they were kids.
If you have family in town during the summer, this should also be a destination to consider when showing them around.
The shepards pie is a must try. It has a layer of tender meat slathered in sauce with a layer of potatoes on top lefted to bake in the oven to form that wonderful crispy potatoey crust! YUUUUM
I've also tried the Irish breakfast but didn't find it to be all that interesting.
If you want to grab a late night dinner with friends, hurry because this place stops serving dinner either at 10 or 11.
Oh, and the decor is fabulous! If I were to think of an alcoholic Irish man's house this place comes into mind. It's hard to believe Fado's is a chain because the place has so much character!
Come here and see for yourself. I don't think anyone could walk away from this place disappointed.

I love this theater. It's clean, huge, and right across from the mall. It doesn't get any better on the eastside. However, the druken 20 somethings and business men at night may startle some and annoy others (me).
Where else can you find Bill Gates trying to catch a movie with his kids?
Love it.

Old Village Korean Restaurant
Category: Korean
I've been here for korean bbq more times then I can count. The service is great, parking is easy to find, and the quality of the food is right on.
The prices are fairly reasonable, but what do you expect with a place that allows you to eat great food while at the same time be entertained by cooking your own meal?!
Its almost like a community effort and it forces you to interact with the people at your table, rather then passively stuffing food down your throat.
Kaya down the street is good, however the young servers that work there don't seem to understand the concept of hospitality and good service. Old Village, on the other hand, has better service and a more welcoming environment.
After you're done with dinner, why not venture out for some dessert right across from old village and in the same complex? I don't know what its called but it is a Korean bakery that has all kinds of goodies in it.
This place is a must try if you're in the area!
Date

They are very accommodating with large groups and go out of their way to make you feel special if its your birthday, anniversary, etc. by putting personalized cards on the table.
The food was good but my friend had to send back his steak 3 times!
They eventually gave him a free meal for the inconvenience.
The duck starter was delish and so was the crab dip! yummy yummy in my tummy. Palisades also gives a large platter of breads and generous portions of butter with your meal, which is always a plus in my book.
Another item I enjoyed were the halibut cheeks. I also got a salad with my meal but i dont remember what it was, I suppose it was forgettable!
They have something here for everyone and the seafood is done the right way; not too complicated or fancy.
