I foiled Ligaya's tentacled alien abduction/mind-reading techniques by donning a foil headband.. haha get it.. foiled. Lovely Ms Connie was absolutely adorable as a flower, although sitting down/looking up in the planetarium didn't really work out. ;) Next time if you ever want to go to the planetarium, remember that costumes may hinder your viewing pleasure.
We started out at the Planetarium and watched a dizzying music video. It was cool, but I'd be back to watch something if it had something to do with the actual planets/stars. Otherwise, the other exhibits are educational as well. The two large telescopes were my favorite part. Seeing Jupiter and its moons up close was pretty amazing. I thought we'd be viewing a closer planet. The Ring Nebula was pretty cool, but kind of sad -- it's a dying star named for its shape.. that's what the sun may look like in a few billion years. zomg!
After exploring a bit, taking photos at the photobooth, and noshing on some sushi, I decided to plant myself near Otaez's booth and devour the shrimp ceviche. It was simply divine. Juicy big chunks of plump shrimp, large chunks of avocado. Mmm.. I would go to the East bay just to visit them. They also had tasty tasty pescado ceviche as well. I'd have to say the shrimp was the winner because it made me ignore about half the people I knew, and any potential new Yelpers I could meet. I'm sorry, I can't talk to you right now -- ceviche de camarones is calling me.
Gelateria Naia had a cute little kiosk downstairs, and they brought one of my favorite flavors!! St George's Whiskey. Of course, I kept quiet about how I work within close proximity to one of their stores. Why yes, I AM new to this wonderful gelato.. Can I try that one again?! I'm such a fatty I got gelato twice. At least, it was at the end of the night, so I didn't look like I was hogging all the gelato.
Thanks for an out of this world event so I could explore space AND stuff my face. My waist says, to infinity and beyond!!!!!
Would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar?
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather go to earth?
An earthling's a creature who is plain as can be
He's not as unique as you or me
His body comes in lots of different shapes
They say his relatives were chimps and apes
But if you take my advice for what it's worth
You could be happy there on earth

The reception was really nice, and all the food was very flavorful - definitely better than I expected. The ballroom where they held the dinner was really nice. It was a bit strange/rude that the waitstaff were clearing things off so fast, and even without asking if we were finished. They took away the toasting champagne after the toast, but who wastes champagne like that??! Someone else at my table missed the toast, and didn't even get to try hers. Otherwise, they were attentive and refolding napkins as soon as we stepped away from the table. Mayhaps a little too attentive? Ah wells, overall it was alright. I guess I had higher expectations for a place with rooms for $400-500 a night.. so 3 stars.. it's alright.

1. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with feet and mine were extra stinky after being stuffed into flats with no socks on a hot day
and
2. they did speed up my service
so hopefully they didn't expect me to pay for fixing my thumb..
Anyways, I will definitely be back.

When I arrived at 815 to meet up with them, their two trucks rolled in right on time at 830. I was worried for probably a second when we realized the park gates wouldn't be open for another few hours, but Shannon, our caterer, put my mind at ease. They would get things unloaded and set up, and everything would be ok. A dozen trips back and forth later, they had all their grills, food, and various items unloaded. They really cared about the customer and making everything go as smooth as possible. We even borrowed their dollies to unload our own chairs and tables.
We ordered the Lonestar meal for anyone 10 and over and the Little Joe's Sidekick for the kids 9 and under. For the amount of food, the price was decent, particularly the Lonestar. It consisted of 1/4 bbq chicken, bbq ribs, chili, green salad, potato salad, corn on the cob, *breathe*, garlic bread, and watermelon. The Little Joe's meal was a hotdog, chips, and cookies.
We didn't have any microphones to make announcements to our huge group (of about 300), so Shannon and (I forget his name) :( helped with making announcements, and even contest coordination.
They were lifesavers during the event, and great to work with when planning it. It was their first time at the park site, so Stephanie our event coordinator had them make a trip out there in advance to scope out the site. I wouldn't hesitate to have them cater for another event. Leave the barbequeing to Absolute - one (or three) less thing to worry about!

It's been 7 years since I've been to Playland-Not-at-the-Beach... located... not at the beach, in El Cerrito. The last time there, I was actually volunteering to help build their Halloween Haunted House, so I was really excited to hear that the event would be at Playland. :D The folks who volunteer at the Playland were incredibly nice and geniunely enthusiastic about sharing a great part of SF history. There were various games, pinball machines, dioramas, and of course skeeball. I had a blast during the skeeball competition with Trey C. and Jamie S., and catching up with various other EB Yelpers. :D
Doggie High provided the hot dogs and sausages to keep our tummies happy while we played games. Their menu ranges from breakfast foods, to hot dogs, and specialty sausages (Lemon Chicken, Chicken Apple, Bockwurst, Bratwurst, Hot Links, etc.) To quench my thirst after scarfing down my Bockwurst (delish btw!), I had some Pale Nectar Ale, and finished off with an It's It Ice Cream sandwich for dessert. Since it was a family event, they had a magic show, and face painting for the kiddies. Family event + Drinks = I had to stifle my potty mouth everytime I did poorly during games. Those jello shots were pretty stiff too. Of course, due to my lack of self control, I couldn't keep away from them. Mayhaps I should've stuck with the virgin ones with blueberries. :P Also followed in Crystal L. and Maya S.'s footsteps when I found the Fun Dip. Not to mention, I have a stash of Caramel Apple Lollipops now.. teehee.. This event made me feel like a kid again.. except the drinking part.
Overall, a great time. Also Tinna offered me her hot dog ticket, thinking she'd have enough time to pull it back and yell "PSYCH!", but in my special state, my quick fingers proved themselves, and I happily bounded away with her ticket and ordered another hot dog. Woops.. Apologies..
BIG HUGE THANKS to Ligaya and Connie. :D

Also a bird with a diseased foot/claw, flew in and walked around on their tables. *gag*
I guess Toast made a good choice for opting out of Lee's and getting Taco Bell.
