Great local coffee shop in the Nob Hill and Russian Hill area.

My favorite features:

They have Dynamo Donuts.
They have Dynamo Donuts.
They make a pretty good Americano -- I am partial to Blue Bottle (holy shit that sounds pretentious) but this place is just as good.
The people working behind the counter are super helpful and friendly.
The music is almost always good.

Delarosa

So...it's in the Marina, which if you like the Marina is probably not that big of a deal. But since I think the Marina is mostly filled with incredibly annoying people, it's rare for me to go there.

However, Delarosa is good. The interior on a Sunday afternoon was bright with the windows open. It was crowded, but we didn't have to wait for a table.

The pizza was incredibly good (for thin crust...I'm a deep dish person myself).  The sodas they offer are awesome. And the bar tenders looked to be making some excellent drinks, though I didn't try any. The Mojitos looked particularly good.

Pro-tip: If you want to feel like you really belong in the area make sure to wear some aviators, plaid shorts, a brightly colored polo shirt with a popped collar, and some flip-flops. Maybe even show off the tattoo from your fraternity...bro.

Blue Bottle coffee is delicious. If it's a hot day, order the Macau Iced Coffee--it's the greatest iced espresso drink in the world. Guaranteed.

Although I prefer to go to the SFMOMA Blue Bottle, this one is close by if not everyone has a museum pass.

Blingin'.

Really fast lunch if you're looking for a decent sandwich.

There are certainly better sandwich places around (e.g. Sentinel, Golden West, etc.) but Sammy's is a solid choice if you're not looking for something gourmet.

Of course, if you're thinking that a bottle of Hennessy is the perfect way to enjoy your sandwich, you're in luck. This place is apparently a liquor store, too.

Fast, good food, inexpensive. The major selling point for me is how close it is to my apartment.

I've had the waffle (which comes with strawberries and bananas, nice) and it's good. The french toast looked better, though.

Also a big fan of their ham and fontina sandwich with sage - great flavor.

I've heard good things about the sangria. They have happy hour every day.

Nice neighborhood spot for a quick snack or drink.

I can't say much that hasn't already been said. I am not a connoisseur of Indian food, but on a scale of 1 to awesome, Udupi is holy-shit-this-place-is-awesome.

If you're a vegetarian or gluten free, you're going to love it here.

If you love eating meat (like me) you're also going to love it here and your vegetarian friends are going to be so happy with you.

It's cash only but doesn't require that much cash for a ton of food.

The Golden West

In some previous reviews I discussed my quest to find the best sandwich known to man. I did not mention a little caveat: I am not willing to walk very far to find the sandwich. So my options are limited. It's more of a "lazy quest."

Golden West ranks up there with Deli Board in my book--the short rib sandwich was spectacular.

If you're in the area, you need to check this place out. The food is great. It's really fast. The line was really short (at least today).

I'd also highly recommend the mint lemonade.

And they get extra points for their sign saying Au, as in the periodic table abbreviation for Gold.

I've been here a few times, it's a good spot. I am not typically a huge fan of North Beach bars, but this one stands out.

There is a lot of space and I haven't had trouble finding a place to sit when I've been here.

They make a good cocktail and have some decent beers on tap.

The only negative was relatively slow service and fairly snooty bartenders (it was towards the end of the night, so I assume they'd been putting up with obnoxious people for hours at this point...so we'll let it slide).

Review #100. Here we go...

This La Boulange is pretty good. I got the French Toast, which is *incredibly* eggy. Like, on the bottom, there was egg. But it was good. And it came with fresh fruit, which made me feel kind of healthy.

I prefer the open-face sandwiches for lunch, but it's all pretty good.

A solid option for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. It's fast. It's easy. It's good. There is some outdoor seating if it's a nice day, but no where to sit inside.

Can get really crowded depending on which conference is in town for the week.

Li Po Cocktail Lounge

Neighborhood: Chinatown

This place was hilarious. The decor is very Chinatown, but the big bartender with a huge beard is clearly not. Hence, hilarious.

Important things to remember:

The Pacman machine has a start button, don't just keep giving it quarters thinking it will eventually let you play a game.

The bouncer has hilarious and disgusting stories if you get bored of your friends.

The gin and tonic was mostly gin.
