I went out for her nature photography class yesterday at Huckleberry Botanical Regional Preserve and it was great!

She was there early awaiting our arrival and was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire session. We spent some time learning about the basics of photography, learned about how to shoot in manual on our cameras, then spent a couple hours in guided and unguided shooting. She was professional and kept to an agenda while being really friendly and helpful the entire class.

Katrina found interesting things to photograph every couple feet down our trail which was really inspiring in terms of finding subject matter for our photography. We reviewed our photos throughout the entire class and left feeling like we'd gotten much more comfortable with our cameras, had a toolbox of ideas for how to shoot nature, and left with increased ability for finding things to photograph.

I came into the class having had some experience with shooting in a mostly manual way and feeling a solid grasp of composition and focus techniques, but I've mostly photographed people and portraits. Katrina's class made me much more comfortable shooting nature and I re-learned many of the things I'd forgotten due to the automated tendencies of cameras today.

I'd definitely recommend her class to anyone who is a beginner, a novice with a desire to get more comfortable shooting nature, or anyone looking to become more comfortable embracing the manual controls on your camera.

After trying a number of Indian restaurants in Berkeley I tried Mount Everest and now it's the only place I go.

All of the curries (mostly vegetarian) I've had have been great, especialy for the ~$8/dish prices! The samosas and pakoras have also been delicious every time as well.

Though the curries are better than others I've had in Berkeley, the reason I keep wanting to come back, though, is probably that the place is inviting and the people are so incredibly friendly that it just makes me happy to be there.

Go. You'll love it.

Pasta Bene

This place is a real gem. The food is fantastic and the people are wonderful here.

I've been a handful of times and every time it's been delicious. It's different every time I come but always in the best way. You know they're making everything from scratch and with just the right imperfections to make it  interesting. I always leave feeling great, satisfied and with leftovers for later even!

The prices are extremely affordable (especially the lunch prices!) and the appetizers are only a couple dollars each so you can get bruchetta or garlic bread (or both) every time and it's not like ordering a whole other dish.

I've only ordered vegetarian pasta dishes so far but I'm excited to try the pizzas, sandwiches and possibly even some of the amazing sounding meat and seafood choices hopefully very soon.

I love this place. The staff is great and friendly, they serve everything you could want at all hours of the day (coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, tacos, pancakes), everything's delicious and inexpensive.

I'm a regular here and it would be inappropriate to expect anything more from this great neighborhood cafe.

The man on staff, who I assume was the owner, was very knowledgeable about the foods they carried and gave some great tips about feeding schedules and portions.

I left with less expensive food that should be much better for my cat.

The coffee is absolutely incredible -- some of the best in the U-District. The atmosphere is great with great internet and two floors of seating for your beverage-drinking pleasure.

They will even draw a skull in the foam of your mexican mocha.

I couldn't live without this place.
