All in all, Hara Sushi is a good value. You don't pay and arm and a leg, but you don't get arm and a leg quality. Hara Sushi is generally just what the doctor ordered for my sushi fix.
I don't know exactly what this "half off" business is all about, I'm 95% positive it's all sham marketing and the business model is to make so-so quality sushi.
I've only eaten inside once, and the service was pretty good, and I remember being pleasantly surprised by how long it took to get each dish. Course, that could be because after having been to several sushi places over 10 years, I have modified my expectations before I go.
Hara is best for ordering take out. They've got most of the simple rolls you'd like, and you order, and try and get there about 20 minutes after you hang up the phone. What I also like is the small bowl of miso I get, as well as the free edamame that sometimes comes with the sushi.
There's one cash register, and checking out is always a hassle, as there is consistently chaos around the one cash machine, but that's about the only downgrade. There's parking 75% of the time in the back, and if not I park in the cleaner's lot, as I know I'll only be there for 15 minutes tops.
A good value, I recommend!

These guys are pretty good, they take credit, and have reasonable pizza specials. Slice of Pizza isn't getting any cheaper unfortunately, but it's pretty much new york style and if you get the pizza there, you can enjoy the crispness of the crust, which I absolutely love. The dough tastes, pretty good, and the proportion of dough to sauce to cheeze is pretty much up my alley. There's a nice flatscreen TV to watch if you're into that, and seating for up to I'd say 25. When I can't go to Lamonicas, it's worth it to me to drive, park, pick up, and come home for the right pizza experience, and Santa Monica Pizza Kitchen pretty much delivers.
This pizza is unimpressive. Not enough sauce, not very flavorful dough. I take a star off for not having to go red pepper.
The old couple who work there are sort of nice, but not really. The redeeming factor is that it's probably the only late night pizza eat near brentwood that's not on the 3rd street promenade, and not on main street Santa Monica.
They also have donuts, and some other italian beverages which are so-so.
I'd recommend elsewhere for pizza.

This place couldn't suck any harder if it was a hoover vacuum. For one, there's an unreasonable wait to get in when it's 9:30 on Saturday. Yeah, I know it's Saturday, but why I am outside when the place is 1/3rd full.
Getting drinks was actually kind of reasonable. The waiting staff were generally polite, cute, and the drinks fairly priced for a Saturday night in Los Angeles.
It's kind of dark inside, and it gets real crowded, real quick. Now, I love karaoke, I consider myself even kind of good at it. I also have an idea what to expect, as I've been to 6 different karaoke joints since I've been in LA, and one in Orange County. The karaoke guy is total trash. I put my name down on the list at 10:30, and d-bag # 1 running karaoke still had not called me up on stage by 1:00. Look, I know it can take a while to get to your song, but there were not that many people on the list when I signed up. He also plays songs between karaoke singers. LONG songs. If I wanted to go to the club I'd go to Holly's West just down the street. I want Karaoke, period, get on with it.
And here's where I'll never return to Gaslite. For one, the guy running karaoke, (he's the tool who's like like 5'10 and looks like Steve Gutenberg) felt it necessary to talk to trash to my friend before she sang her song. THEN, and this is the kicker
He has the nerve to cut my friend off midsong, so he can sing with his buddies. What the hell is up with that?!? HE CUT HIM OFF MID SONG! THAT NEVER HAPPENS!
Please note, that this all took place after we waited over 2 hours for our chance to sing.
This place is terrible, plain and simple, if you want to actually have FUN, go to Sonny's on a Saturday night. It's like 6 blocks east, the karaoke guy plays minimal songs between karaoke singers, and some of the regulars are actually quite good. Especially Mini-loaf.
DON'T GO TO THE GASLITE!!!

I thought the food was good. I got there at about 12:15 on Sunday, and the place was mostly empty. When I left at about 1:45, it was pretty full, and I can see why.
The ambiance is nice, the restaurant huge, and it has a gigantic bar area.
I ordered the shrimp salad, which was good(appropriately cooked shrimp, the kalamata olives were D-lish) with an Arnold Palmer to wash it down. The tomato bisque was good, but a little acidic/intense, not salty, but repeatable. Other members of my party had fish and chips, and the lamb sandwich with the Au-Jous. Both were quite tasty and the service pretty solid. Polite, persistent, but not annoyingly so.
We shared the decadent crumb cake with mascarpone for desert. The cake was rich and had a fabulous caramel sauce, and the dates inside were fruity. The light and fluffy mascarpone, was a great compliment to the rich cake.
The restaurant does not get 5 stars because I had to call a few times to get directions to the parking structure.
Worth repeating!

This place is meh. The food is good, the prices are a little unreasonable, you don't get enough California rolls with your dishes, and there even isn't enough rice.
How do you not provide enough rice?

These guys suck, they think you should value the free chips you get with your burrito much more than they are actually worth. What pissed me off the most was that I called at 8:50 to order something so it would be ready when I got there, and they would not take my order. Screw these guys, go to La Salsa instead, it's just a short walk!

Lamonica's New York Pizza

This is my favorite spot in LA for pizza. Reasonable prices, delicious dough, right combination of cheese, sauce, and crust., very charming mural, cheap rolls. A total deal. I only eat there, I refuse to sully my Lamonica's experience by ordering delivery. The crust has just the appropriate amount of crisp to it.
They are cash only, but worth it. I love Lamonica's!

So, the food itself was good. I had a Argentine steak with peppers, melted cheese, and fresh bread. Good as shit, highly recommend it. I was in on a Saturday.
I ordered the a side of vegetables, which are normally an extra $1.50. On the weekends, they are an extra $4 or so. I forgot this when the bill came, and the server, this died blond queen b-tch couldn't wait to remind me how wrong I was.
Another strike came from the unreasonable delays. It took way to long to get our food, and even a refill of water took about 10 minutes.
Strike three was when the bill came and my dates meal was on there twice. When I pointed this out, they rudely, told me that they more or less all ready knew that dumb-ss. So, if you knew that, why did you give me the wrong bill?
Lastly, the guy who cleared my plate was not at all helpful when I asked to see my server, and didn't understand a word of english.
It could have just been the day I went, or something else going on behind the scenes, but I as not pleased with the service. The food was fabulous, no complaints there, I would infact recommend it. For me to go back, I would need a huge craving or significant discount. I don't need to be treated the way I was when I spend my money.

What makes Enzo's totally awesome is that they are open late. HANDS DOWN the best late night pizza I've had in LA, and that includes two places in Santa Monica, and a place on the outskirts of Brentwood.
It's a good place for groups to as you can put several tables together and get wine, or maybe even bring it in, I don't remember.
The turnaround time for the food is reasonable, and I recall likeing their chicken parm as well. I recommend Enzo's for your fast but tasty italian fix.
