This place scares me. Not sure about the neighborhood but it doesn't appear to decent.

I had to use their restroom and I was told that I would have to follow the path of red foot-steps and go around the building (?!??!?!).

Then, a homeless lady comes in and sit in the next stall, started blasting off her "kids" in the pool, mumbled something, did not flush and walked out of the restroom.

I'm scarred for life!!

Five Guys Burgers & Fries

If you're into fatty, wholesome, greasy, soggy burgers - this place is for you.

But you're like me who enjoys a decent size burger and don't want to worry if it's going to clog up my arteries and be rushed to the hospital, steer clear from this!

It was ok to give it a try and see what the hype is all about but I seriously felt so guilty after I have consumed the 2 meat patties burger and all that unnecessary toppings, which they have actually factored in the cost from the $6.00 burger. You're delusional if you think they are "FREE" toppings and yay for "free" peanuts!

In fairness, it's not a bad place because they have good service and some people do like these kind of food. It's just not for me. I do care about my health and it's not worth for me to work off the fat. =)

Ippudo NY

I'm in shock that I did not put up a review of this place!

If my memory is serving me correctly, it was around Fall of 2009 that I went to NYC with one of my cousins. Before our trip, a few friends who have visited the city have talked a great deal about Ippudo. I really didn't believe the hype until I have tried it myself.

I was glad that we arrived at Ippudo just when they opened for dinner because the line has a long tail after 10 minutes.

The workers there are super energetic and very welcoming. They make the ramen noodles right infront of you and the broth is to die for. I've never tasted anything as phenomenal and addictive! I seriously think they put drug in the soup because I just can't explain why or how they are so freakishly delicious! You just have to try it yourself as words will not do it any justice. All of their side dishes are great as well.

This is a place that I MUST visit if I ever go to NYC again. No, seriously, it would be on top of my itinerary. I wouldn't be surprised if I make a trip to NYC just for it. LOL

Fantasia Coffee & Tea

Fantasia is one of my favorites for my fix of milk tea boba. I've been to all the Fantasia around the bay and they are all consistent with how they make my drinks so I don't have anything bad to say about their quality.

This particular chain is closer to my school so I would come here pretty often nowadays.

Service is not bad but it's not superior either. I mean, it's not complicated to take down order, shout it to whoever is making the drinks and collect money from you. Oh and punch a few stampers on your card. hehehe.

Shanghai Restaurant

what should you do if a restaurant provided you with horrible service?

vent it out on Yelp!

It was disappointing to have found out that HC dumplings is no longer there and Shanghai Restaurant has taken over. There are decent reviews when I checked on Yelp so we have decided to give this place a try with our party of 6 adults and 2 kids. This is when Yelp users have failed.

The service we received was a nightmare!

1. order was not taken correctly: supposed to have 4 orders of the xiu long bao (soup dumplings) but were only served with 3.

2. Food did not come out consistently - All the plates that we ordered (about 7 or 8 dishes) took forever for EACH of them to come out. We basically had 8 intermissions! even our appetizer (friend onion pancakes) came out last!

3. Servers attitude - it's obvious that they need a major improvement on their operation and it doesn't help when you have a server giving you attitude when you ask for your order. Obviously, they didn't take our order correctly so we asked them about it and here is one of the waiter's response, "We are busy so just wait for it to come out. Whatever you have ordered, it will come out eventually so you don't have to ask."

There was another server came and drop off an order of rice but instead of putting in the center of the table or lay it down gently, he literally TOSSED the rice bowl next to my mom!

STRIKE 3! YOU'RE OUT!

In the end, we gave them a really bad tips and they should be glad we gave something at all.

TIPS = TO INSURE PROPER SERVICES which we did not get at all!

I will NEVER go to this place again. Just bad service and the food wasn't great either.

Orenchi Ramen

The only time I would write a yelp review nowadays would be either the restaurant is insanely good or it's ridiculously horrible. Orenchi made it on my good side so kudos to them.

I had the Tonkotsu ramen and boy it was delicious-o!! Everything from service, their soft boiled eggs, noodles, and broth were done right.  This is very close in comparison to Ippudo ramen place in New York in my opinion.

I'm glad bay area now have a ramen place that i will continuously go back to.

one side note: the slice of pork included with the ramen was too little. i wish they added another piece because I was so stingy to give some to my friend because I didn't have enough for myself. Haha

Cooking Papa Restaurant

Category: Chinese

4.0 star rating
5/16/2010
Cooking Papa was recommended by one of our coworkers so I didn't bother doing my research on yelp prior to taking my family there. Good thing is everything that was advertised to me were pretty dead on.

I had a misconception of this place and assumed it was a dim sum restaurant but one of the waiters set me straight when I started asking if they have custard buns, siu mai, ha gao. "Sorry, we don't have those dishes you would like to order here. This is not a dim sum place. It's a hong kong family style restaurant."

Point taken.

Food:
- Hainan Style Chicken with Rice [5 stars for the rice because it is so goddamn delicious but 3 stars for the chicken because there wasn't much meat in it]
- Steamed rice w/meat wrapped in Lotus Leaves. [3 stars because it's good but the rice is kind of soggy & oily]
- Steamed pork dumplings with soup. [3 stars because it is not juicy enough]
- Porridge: Pork & preserved eggs/Pig kidney & liver. [4 stars because it has a unique taste to it that I haven't tried in other restaurants before]
-Flour Crisp (I call it chinese donut). [5 stars because they are freshly made and definitely crispy. You cannot have porridge without this]
-Rice Noodle w/flour crisp. [5 stars judging by the crispiness of the flour crisp]
-Rice Noodle w/shrimp. [5 stars same as above dish because it is nothing fancy so you can only judge it by the freshness of the content]
-House Special Pan Fried Noodle [3-4 stars as I cannot make fair judgment. By the time we got to this dish, we were pretty darn full and yet still enjoyed it.]
-Black Sesame Sweet Soup [3 stars since the soup is not as thick and my dad can make it better]

Service: The hostess was very friendly - she did say thank you at every end of her sentence. The waiters/servers are what you should expect @ a typical Asian restaurant which is: know what you want to order, order it fast and let them get on with their business.

Good thing about going in a big group is that you get to share different dishes but the bad thing about it is that you'd have to wait much longer to get a table.

Having said, this place is a MUST try!

Maceio Brazilian Steak House - CLOSED

Seeing how this place is still new, they could use some improvement on servicing. We went on Friday night & it wasn't busy so I couldn't justify the fact that it took them more than 15 minutes to see the menu & same amount of time when we ordered the additional fruit punch.

Like I have mentioned, since this place is new, it would be nice if the servers introduce the type of food that they are serving instead of having the patrons play guessing games.

All the meat was drenched in salt. I had to kill for water after our meal.

Not worth the dollars we had paid for.

WET Nightclub - CLOSED

this place is wayyyy overrated. we had bottle service so we didnt have to stand in line. BUT! that doesn't mean it's a good thing. they over booked the tables so we didn't even get our tables. we stood, walked, waited around for more than half an hour to get our table. the girl in charge said we had to share our table with another party. hmmmpphh... she was nice and courteous but i didn't appreciate the fact that we paid full price for bottle service to share space with others. but eventually they took care of that and moved the other party to the other side. however later onto the night, the girl came back and asked us to share our table with ANOTHER party. By that time, all the guys in the group were too drunk to care so they decided to share.

so im giving them minus points for poor management. though i appreciate service crew. so 1 point for that and another point for good music & nice theme.

The Boiling Crab

so im a big crawfish fan and when i heard about boiling crab opening 5 minutes from my place, it's like my prayer has been answered! i literally wondered when they will open up and when they set the date, i marked it down on my blackberry. unfortunately, i didnt get to go on the first day of the grand opening but of course, i went their soon enough.

i love the interior. the atmosphere is totally different from the location. love the big screen tvs.

"the whole sha bang" sauce deserves its name. very saucy, spicy & yummy! the only thing is that the crawfish are very small but im not sure if they can control that. people definitely should go with the whole sha bang and nothing else.

service always been great. the staffs are friendly and courteous which is greatly appreciated.

so yes, go there! thumbs up!
