First, my deepest apologies to Alan Jay Lerner and Camelot ....
If ever I would leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer I never would go.
Your stage filled with stars,
Your lights shining far,
Oh, you wonderful bowl
that puts gold to shame!
.....
If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in spring-time?
Knowing how close the season is?
Oh, no! not in spring-time!
Summer, winter or fall!
No, never could I leave you at all!
Ok, you get the picture, I am willing to put my lack of talent on display all for the love of the Bowl. When I am asked the things I love about LA, my top three are Disneyland, the weather and the Bowl --- and they switch positions depending on my mood. One of the reasons I can't imagine leaving Los Angeles is the Bowl ... that tops Disneyland which surprise those that know me. My favorite summer activity is to come to the bowl -- just pack the backpack with cheese, crackers and wine and take me to the Bowl.
Some of those that I have are: Kristin Chenoweth, Charlotte Church, John Schneider, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, Riders in the Sky, Pink Martini, Carol Channing, Reba McEntire, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Willie Nelson, The Smothers Brothers, Patti LuPone, Alan Menken, Judy Kuhn, Jodi Benson, Mary Costa, Mickey Mouse, Dick van Dyke, Marni Nixon, John Williams, Julia Sweeney, Jeffrey Tambor, Bruce Jenner, Disneyland's Dapper Dans, Fess Parker and Richard Sherman (I know I am forgetting many ...). I have been to Sing-a-Longs (both Sound of Music and Wizard of Oz). The first time I "saw" Sunset Boulevard was at the Bowl .... it was a reading of the script with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra playing the score --- it was incredible.
I have sat in the box seats, but I like the benches better. There is a laid back feeling in the upper sections. You get to know those around you, I have had some of the best conversations with those next to me. Trust me, you can never go wrong with a night at the Bowl ... even if you don't think you would like who is playing, it will be a night to remember.

Very quickly I got a return call from Rabbi Weinberg. He talked to me about the program and made me feel very welcome to join the class and explore. The class isn't necessarily a conversion class. It can be, but it is also a for those that want to know more about Judaism (for Jew and non-Jews). There are 18 classes, 3 hours each. I really liked the curriculum ... there is a lot of material covered, but Rabbi Weinberg teaches it very well. History, theology, rituals, customs, etc. There are 3 different times that classes meet, once a week on Sundays, or twice a week on Mondays/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. There is a lot of flexibility to make up classes and to retake a session as needed.
Enough of the facts of the program. Here is my experience, as I took classes I felt like I was coming home. The class is intense but very rewarding. Rabbi Weinberg is a very good guide to have as one is either gaining knowledge or going down a new life path. I am very very very happy that I made that call to Rabbi about his program.
