Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Company

I have come here for the fish on multiple occasions. It is almost always either Catfish or Salmon as the market choice served on a roll, which can be a little dull after a visit or two. The sauce served is delicious with the fish, and I recomend grilling your fish lightly blackened if you don't want your catch contaminated with burnt leftovers from previous grilled items.
Contrary to other reviews, I think sides are one of the highlights of this restaurant. I highly recommend the corn bread and potato salad with your barbecue of choice.
While you wait you can snack on peanuts in the shell, which is part of the whole experience.
The barbecue sauce is a good vinegar based variety, served out of a ladle in the crock. Ultimately I've had better barbecue back in Saint Louis, but in DC this is fixing my jones.

I have visited this place in the winter, and not just for the Hot Chocolate bar. It is that good. The prices are fair. I only wish it was a little roomier on a crowded day.
Worth a visit out of your way, as a trip of it's own*.

The service here is polite and friendly. There are plenty of tables and a tent near the stage, where they play music on the weekends. This vineyard has one of the best views of any in Augusta, wine country in Missouri.
Word on the street is that this winery is for sale (so that the owners can concentrate on their restaurant).

Guapos Mexican Cuisine & Cantina
Category: Mexican
Neighborhood: Tenleytown
Although Guapo's will remain a Tenlytown/American University hang out for years to come, I can't understand the appeal beyond the drinks. Maybe all those margarita's are clouding other reviewer's better judgment.
Previous review:
Because so many of my friends enjoy this restaurant, I've been looking for a good reason. But something tells me I am limited by my pescetarian tastes.
If you order anything vegetarian, epsecially the burrito, prepare to get ripped off with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and other vegetables that do not belong in a Mexican dish.
Fortunately the drinks are nice, but don't bring your vegetarian friend (me).

Pros:
Tasty, light slices
Great salads
Affordable
No pretensions/casual atmosphere
Family Friendly
Cons:
Low beer selection
No Arcade Games
Bad lighting
Recomendations: Drop-in for lunch or happy hour for a couple slices an adult beverage.
Formerly known as The Music Cafe, where I got my first pitcher. It was notorious for serving underage patrons. A couple years later (2006?) it reopened as The Blue Fugue. Probably a safe bet that this place will reopen again.
Best Dive Bar in Columbia.
(thanks to Kristin F. for helping me correct the old name of this great bar)

If I had never been to cupcake place out of DC (and this looks to be the case for most other local reviews) I would probably think this is 5-star material.

Fantom Comics - CLOSED
Category: Comic Books
Neighborhood: Tenleytown
If I was a big fan of mainstream comics, graphic novels, and manga I would probably have given this 5 stars. But if you're looking for small press and alternative comics outside of these bread-and-butter comic mainstays, you're going to need to look for another store.

Pinto
Category: Thai
Neighborhood: West Village
Everything you've read on yelp about the food is true: it is delicious and affordable. For someone for whom Pad Thai qualifies as a comofrt food, their rendition is a little refined, without going overboard on the cilantro. You could come here for dinner for two with drinks and an appetizer and still pay under $50.
Probably my favorite part of dining here was the service. Waiters promptly sat me and my date at a table for two by the window, and were very patient. We had the feeling very much that we were not being rushed through the restaurant, as no one rushed to give us a check until we asked for one. Whereas so many restaurants are in a rush to run you in and out of the restaurant just to seat the next table, Pinto gave us all the time we needed to enjoy a dinner date.
Date

This place clearly hasn't changed in 30+ years, which is to say that this place is great! Service was prompt, with several friendly barbers waiting at their stools. There seemed to be a ton of retro chairs waiting for the lunchtime rush. My only regret is now asking for the shave as well!
