I want to love this place, I really do, but I'm afraid that I'd have to lose my taste buds, or become a vegan to appreciate this place. It's a really cute place, with a great name & so close to home- but they've got cupcakes & cookies that are screaming for a stick of butter, some eggs, or milk.
Dry, dry, dry. 3 strikes & you're out.

Shredded beef style in a soft tortilla laden with juice & a mystery concoction that seemed like guacamole & mayo & while that sounds atrocious and may not be accurate- it's truly delicious. Served with fresh chips of radish & wedges of lime & sprinkled with a gentle amount of some foreign (to me) cheese, and oh taco, you are my new true friend! I think I need to up my game & try their cilantro buttered corn cob that I see people running around with.
in response to some of the other reviews:
- not from California, from New York & this is fine with me. We all know people from other States have different standards for tacos, just like I have a superior nose for pizza & bagels.
- I would appreciate Gang of Four blasting out of a crack in the wall, so I definitely want to hear it from the taco truck. What do you want them to play? Mexican Fiesta music? Hello! They're not Mexican! This is a TACO TRUCK on a corner in Brooklyn! Jeez!

Pio Pio
Category: Latin American
Neighborhood: Jackson Heights
The way to do Pio Pio is with a larger group so that you can split a chicken, or two & share some sides. The waiters are genuine enough to help you order a sufficient amount without pressing you into ordering too much. Atmosphere is pretty loud & extremely busy, so it's perfect for a big group. The CEVICHE, seafood marinated in citrus juices...Whoa!!! I missed out on that during my last trips, but I'm telling you, do not miss it! We also had some plantains that come with yet another delicious sauce to drizzle over them transforming plantains into some great, magical combo. I was just there last night & I'm already dying to go back. HUGE line, but in the end it was worth the wait. Pitcher of sangria goes a long way & is still as perfect as I remembered.
This one remains a big favorite. I'm curious as to HOW there are bad reviews for this place... I'm thinking that some people don't understand that the green sauce MUST be drizzled on the chicken. That's what makes it special, people. GREEN SAUCE! We asked for more!

This Peruvian restaurant is seriously worth traveling to from time to time.
Who knew chicken could be so good?
Best reserved for late weekend afternoons.
The chickens spin on the spit all day & then there is an AMAZING green sauce to drive it over the top. I know it doesn't sound appealing, and I have no idea how that sauce is made, or even how to describe how delicious it is- but it gets voted as the best chicken of my life, easily. I get the Matador Special, which comes with salchipapas, but I'm not fond of those. I just want that chicken. And do NOT skip on the Sangria.! It's another delicious Pio Pio specialty. I bribed the waiter into telling me some of the ingredients & then I modeled my own Sangria recipe after theirs.

After eating here 3 times + ordering a takeout, it's high time to give credit to "The Little Thai Place That Could." It's a return to the super 90s, NYC thai food here, where they're big fans of spicy peanut sauce galore- yet not a satay skewer to be found on the menu. I've had phenomenal service from happy lady boys & delicious, flavorful food just filled with layered ingredients. Tasty & wholesome. Excellent & generously portioned pan fried veggie dumplings, special spring rolls, peanut sauce curries, spicy basil dishes, pad thai and salads. I have yet to be disappointed and am hoping that they continue down the road of good food. To make it all even better, entrees are humbly priced out between $7-$8 and the food from the open kitchen comes out really fast. Who could beat that?
This place hasn't caught on yet, perhaps due to the incomplete decor. I have no idea when it popped up, but they haven't finished it off. My advice to this gem? Please, please, please rip off the aesthetic style (but not the food) of "Kelley & Pings" in Soho. You're half way there. Now the look needs to match the food.

I'm sticking with this magical combo & not going to stray, but if the jalapeno cream cheese is that good, maybe their other mixes are equally divine? If you're still scared of their bagels, pick some up down the block & then pick up a container of the cream cheese here!

Brooklyn Ale House
Category: Pubs
Neighborhood: Williamsburg - North Side
They've got Heather (who was my favorite bartender at the original Siberia located down IN the subway) & Christa who seems to own most of my record collection (ah, the punk soundtrack of my youth). They also uphold the fine tradition of NYC buybacks & if a bar doesn't have that policy, I don't drink there. Best bar in Williamsburg, hands down. This place will never change & I'm ever so grateful.

Mugs Ale House
Categories: Pubs, American (Traditional)
Neighborhood: Williamsburg - North Side
I'm a burger gal here & not experimenting much, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Buffalo, ostrich & beef burgers are always ordered to perfection & come with fries. Their buffalo wings have rapidly declined over the years, so I don't even order them anymore. Mugs, you listening? Please get with the program & deliver a good wing. Good wings are ridiculously hard to get in the neighborhood, so why don't you step up & own it? It's not hard to do!
Roomy wooden seating area in the back of the bar & the waitresses are really nice. Taking a star off because they really need some good Frank's Red Hot Sauce coated wings.....

What a heartbreaking disappointment. Perfect name, cutesie as all get out, but it just wasn't good. This neighborhood is severely lacking a place where I can get my baked goods fix.
