He came on short notice and moved a big couch in his truck from the UES to Brooklyn, and helped us pick the couch up over a fence and over a shed and all these other obstacles.
Great prices too!!! Much cheaper than other moving companies I've worked with in the past. After speaking to him, we texted him the address and he told us he'd be there at a certain time - he arrived early, and was so friendly and helpful.
Yay for Rob the Mover! I'll definitely call him next time I need to move something.

also, yes im saying its a romantic place and all that, but i don't mean fancy. it has that williamsburg hipster vibe to it. no dressing up for me, kids.
everything we ordered, i'd order again, and that says a lot. we had the pizza - it has a really thin tortilla-like crust and its delicious. The bread and olive oil were amazing...and the spinach/ricotta ravioli....all good. and some other salad that i really forget what it was but it was good. combine that with a huge mug of coffee and im a happy camper. plus, the dishes were like 6 bucks each. how is that even legal? the waiter was really sweet too.
when i walked out of the restaurant i kind of couldn't believe it was even real. im going back like, tonight.

879 Taco
Category: Restaurants
Neighborhood: Upper East Side
I've eaten here twice now because it's really the only mexican place I know of in the immediate area besides rosa mexicano, and there's no way i'm paying 30 bucks for some seared ahi tuna enchilada.
anyway so the guac is pretty decent here but the "large" portion really is only enough for 2 people (and if you're really hungry it's not even enough for 2).
the thing that probably annoys me the most about this place is that the vegetarian options are full of like...garden vegetables. like cauliflower, carrots, peas...you get what i'm sayin? that's not mexican food, kids.
random tom petty-esque music selection makes the place seem confused.
best part? the fact that it's called 879-Taco.

Oslo Coffee Company

and now whenever i heard that train song "drops of jupiter," i think of oslo when he sings "the best soy latte that you've ever had." haha, the sad part is, im not even kidding.
but for real, this place is no joke. the sugar water makes me ecstatic. and they always have horoscopes. which is awesome.
and the guy totally remembered my usual order today, which means i'm becoming a regular, and also that they pay attention. sweet!
go there once and you'll want to be in an exclusive, committed relationship with oslo coffee.

I love you. Your vegetarian meatballs are ridiculous, especially with the sweet chili sauce. Your lentil stew with short grain brown rice is a wonderful addition to my life. I just found out that you have an outdoor patio, and I couldn't be happier. I even got takeout from you today and had lunch with a friend (who got the ratatouille, which he loved) down by the river at the picnic tables in the park. Everything about you makes me proud to work in DUMBO and have access to you whenever I please.
Sincerely,
Jenny

the specials here are awesome. the guac and hummus are both killer...even my non vegetarian pal zach ate here and says its some of the best guac ever. i've had great salads here, and the grilled vegetable sandwich is delish. there was some special that was vegetable stew that came with quinoa and greens, that i adored....
its a good place to get a meal that will fill you up but wont leave you stuffed. i can eat here and then go straight to yoga class and be fine.
not the best veg. food i've had, some dishes could use some more flavor, but it's a keeper.

i got the tofu in peanut sauce and the eggplant appetizers, and they were both awesome. My dinner date had the pad thai, which looked pretty damn good too...he also lives in the area and seems to frequent this spot.
i liked the atmosphere, it was open and stylish but not fancy or cheesy. definitely a good place to go when you're hanging around union square or shopping or whatever and can't decide where to eat. i'll be back.

there's really nothing too special about it. unless you count the fact that they serve pizza late night - but unless you're drunk, this pizza tastes like a microwaved frozen tombstone. my slightly-tipsy amiga thought the pizza was great, but my sober/opinionated tastebuds were not diggin it. blech.
the front looks like your normal everyday pub, and the back opens up into more of a lounge area. the drinks are way too expensive for a bar with not much character or ambiance. they do have a couple of cool drink choices though, like the blueberry mojito, but our waitress was kinda non-existant. i did like the fact that the back room was pretty big, so you could go there with a group and sit. but i'd only recommend this place if you're roaming around and need a place to grab a drink quickly and can't find something more suitable. it's a shoe-in for that, considering it was a friday night around 11pm and it was prettttty damn empty.
my recommendation, go a couple blocks over to bleecker and hit up some of those random bars, they at least have more character (and live music) than this joint.

I searched for a dentist that would do sedation (i had a broken tooth- and there was NO way I was going to be coherent for this procedure) - and Dr. Silver (aka The Jazz Dentist) came up. The testimonials on the site were great and I made an appointment.
Best dentist experience ever!! Dr. Silver was super nice and made me feel really comfortable. I don't remember a thing from the procedure, which is what I wanted! I had a sedative drug and nitrous, and went through a 3-hour procedure, and came out of it with minimal pain - just a little soreness for a couple days.
Highly recommended to anyone with dental phobia. The Jazz Dentist will make you actually excited for dentist appointments. I'm serious.
